Ernée Set to Celebrate 50th Anniversary with the Monster Energy MXGP of France!

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 17 Jnauary 2022 -  After five long years of waiting, Ernée is preparing to vibrate again as the club is set to host the FIM Motocross World Championships for the thirteenth in its history, without forgetting the two legendary Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations which broke records in 2005 and 2015.

A long and beautiful story

The first organization of the Moto Club dates from June 3, 1973, it was in 1972 and more precisely on July 24 that a group of enthusiasts led by Albert Rousseau, Raymond Demy and Jean Claude Clavreul, created the club which soon found a site in the old quarries of Bois de l'Aseline. At first the track is built and continued to evolve regularly to become a GP track that we know today. During these 50 years of existence, under the leadership in particular of Raymond Demy who served as president from 1973 to 2008, thousands of volunteers have worked for the destiny of the association. Volunteering, a true hallmark of the club, is still an essential element of its existence today. From the first pickaxe in 1972, through the first GP in 1990, the site is constantly evolving with the desire to reach and remain at the highest level. The club can count on the commitment of communities, the French Motorcycling Federation and many partners who provide their support in moments of glory as in more complicated periods that the association has gone through over time.

Thirteen Grand Prix’s

Thirty-two years after having organized a round of the 125cc Motocross World Championship which saw the American Donnie Schmit win, and five years after celebrating the victories of the Latvian Pauls Jonass and the Belgian Clément Desalle, Ernée is therefore preparing to regain the major event and the intensity of a World Championship on June 4th and 5th. Last year, the organization of the French Elite championship event allowed all the staff and volunteers to find their bearings to better prepare for this Grand Prix, the thirteenth in its history and the first since 2017. Donny Schmit, Greg Albertijn, Joël Smets, Stefan Everts, Mickael Pichon, Antonio Cairoli, Jeffrey Herlings, Livia Lancelot and Marvin Musquin have all at one time or another triumphed at a Grand Prix in Ernée, on route to one of their multiple World titles.

In 2022, Romain Febvre will be ready to put on his best performance for his home crowd after coming close to the crown in 2021, alongside MX2 World Champion Maxime Renaux who will make his debut in MXGP! Meanwhile in MX2, Tom Vialle will be fighting for his second world title after falling short last season and Thibault Benistant will be looking to leave a mark in what will be his second official season in MX2!

Make sure you’re there to see the French heroes on home soil!
