MXGP Family Remembers Superfan Adrian Mahoney

This week the MXGP Family learned of the loss of motocross superfan and former British rider Adrian Mahoney. Mahoney suffered a severe injury of the spine in a crash during a local amateur race in 1988 and was paralyzed from the neck down as a result of the incident. Initially confined to a wheelchair subsequent medical complications required him lay flat in bed at all times.

A massive collector of memorabilia with rider’s jerseys and much more he filled his room. A fan of his native British GP and many racers Honda’s Tim Gajser was a favorite. On June 17th, 2016 Adrian attended the MXGP of Great Britain in Matterley Basin Gajser proudly ran the sticker 'Mahoney 73’ throughout the weekend among many other riders who proudly displayed his sticker on their front plates in both the MXGP and MX2 classes.

An inspiration to many, Mahoney’s memory and dedication to the sport we all love will not be forgotten. Rest and Ride in Peace Adrian from all of us at MXGP.
