AUSTIN SENIOR DOMINATES AT HOME TO REGAIN JUNIOR E-MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD AT MATTERLEY BASIN

MATTERLEY BASIN (Great Britain) 22nd June 2025 –  Austin Senior thrilled the home crowd with a dominant performance at round three of the 2025 Junior e-Motocross Series, held alongside the MXGP of Great Britain at Matterley Basin. After a hard-fought race one win and a commanding ride in race two, the young Brit reclaimed the top step of the podium and took over the red plate as the new championship leader heading into the final two rounds.

The action got underway on Saturday morning at Matterley Basin with a timed practice session, setting the stage for the first of two seven-minute-plus-one-lap races. A full gate of 40 eager young riders from 10 different countries lined up on the iconic MXGP track, kicking off the Junior e-Motocross weekend in style. Austin Senior, round one winner, set the pace early by clocking the fastest lap aboard his KTM SX-E 5.

Race one delivered plenty of exciting battles, with Austin Senior and Austria’s Raphael Edlinger locked in a fierce fight for the lead for much of the race. In the end, it was home hero Senior who held his nerve to take the win by just over a second, much to the delight of the British crowd. Round two winner Cesar Lagut claimed the final podium spot aboard his GASGAS MC-E 5, closely followed by Spain’s Arik Lazaro, who crossed the line just one second behind.

The battle between Senior and Edlinger continued in Sunday’s race two, with the pair leading the pack into the opening lap. Senior immediately set about extending his lead, but a mistake on lap two saw him lose his advantage. The young Brit regrouped and pushed his KTM SX-E 5 to the limit, crossing the line with a huge 30-second lead. Claiming an epic overall home race win, Austin also took control of the red plate ahead of the final two rounds of the series.

Edlinger claimed another runner-up finish to earn second overall. Britain’s Oliver Webb clocked a third-place result in race two also ensured that he finished on the overall podium in front of the home crowd. The 2025 Junior e-Motocross Series resumes at the MXGP of Czech Republic on July 26-27 for rounds four and five.

Austin Senior: "Winning at home means everything. The crowd was amazing and it really helped me keep going. Winning overall and getting the red plate here – it doesn’t get much better than that so thank you to my family for all their support.”
