AUSTIN SENIOR VICTORIOUS IN FRANCE AT OPENING ROUND OF 2025 JUNIOR E-MOTOCROSS SERIES

ERNÉE (France) 25 May 2025 - The 2025 Junior e-Motocross Series launched in dramatic fashion in Ernée, France, where intense competition and electric excitement marked the season opener. Among the standout performers was Britain’s Austin Senior, who claimed the overall victory with a runner-up finish in race one and a commanding win in race two aboard his KTM SX-E 5.

The weekend kicked off on Saturday morning with a timed practice session in Ernée, setting the stage for the first of two seven-minute-plus-one-lap races. A full start gate of 40 eager young riders from 10 different countries lined up on the iconic MXGP track, delivering an exciting opening to the Junior e-Motocross action. It was French rider Cesar Lagut who put his GASGAS MC-E 5 at the top of the timesheets in timed practice, much to the delight of the home fans.

In the opening race of the 2025 series, Latvia’s Ricards Mihailovs took control from the first lap and never looked back, crossing the line on his Husqvarna EE 5 with a commanding 10-second advantage. Britain’s Austin Senior held steady in second throughout, consistently chasing down Mihailovs in a strong performance that followed his runner-up result in timed practice. Kolbe Sole, another British hopeful, was running fifth until a stellar final lap saw him climb into third. Meanwhile, Cesar Lagut, fuelled by support from the home crowd, fought his way up to fourth.

Sunday’s race two belonged to Austin Senior, who delivered a dominant ride from start to finish on his KTM SX-E 5, winning by a 17-second margin. With 2-1 results, Senior secured the overall win at round one and holds the championship lead going forward, though he is tied on points with Ricards Mihailovs. Mihailovs and Britain’s George Forrest battled it out for second, with the Latvian ultimately holding on to take the position. Home rider Cesar Lagut impressed again with another fourth-place finish, building momentum he'll look to carry into next weekend’s round two in Germany. Rounding out the top five was British rider Oliver Webb.

The Junior e-Motocross series attracted a strong crowd, with the fan-favourite track perfectly complementing the energy of the young riders and showcasing the impressive performance of their electric machines. Following an action-packed opening round, the 2025 series resumes in just one week’s time at the Liqui Moly MXGP of Germany in Teutschenthal, taking place May 31–June 1.

Austin Senior: “I’m so excited to have won the first round of the season! It was so fun to race the same track as the MXGP riders I look up to, and to win race two and the overall is amazing. Thank you to my family for all their help and of course my sponsors, I can’t wait for next weekend already!”
