LUGO (Spain) 11 May 2025 – After getting through a relatively dry Saturday at the Circuito Municipal Jorge Prado, the rains came today with earnest
COLDENHOFF AND 2025

As the oldest rider in the MXGP paddock, veteran Dutchman, Glenn Coldenhoff continues to show his amazing endurance and longevity. At 34-years of age, the Dutchman is right in the fight for the 2025 MXGP championship and he just seems to get better and better with age.
Finishing second in the second round of the series in Spain and then sixth last weekend in France, Coldenhoff holds down fifth place in the MXGP points going into Sardinia in two weeks’ time, a circuit that he has finished on the podium on two occasions and one he could very easily win.
If there is one thing that has turned his career around in 2025, it is the work that the Fantic factory team put in in the off-season. With a bike that handles better than in 2024 and a resurgence of motivation, Coldenhoff is looking forward to a successful season.
“The thing is,” Coldenhoff said. “I enjoy riding again, with this bike. The bike is doing what I want it to do and that makes riding a lot more fun. It also makes the training days more fun, because you know you can perform on the bike. I enjoy the hard work and everyone around me, has been working and listening what I need and what I like, and it seems they managed to do what I needed. I am super happy. Fantic made big improvements. I think it will be a nice season for Fantic this year. They worked so hard, and we are working close together, and everyone is really motivated and that gives me a lot of energy and today we see it works out.”
Team owner and manager, Louis Vosters doesn’t want that the team gets ahead of itself and are concentrating on just one race at a time. Despite the podium success of Fantic in Spain, a week later in France it was a tough day.
“We take it race by race,” Vosters said. “You know, if you think too much about results, it isn’t good. For the second race in Spain, I told him, Glenn, you are one of the toughest guys out there, so give it everything you have and let’s see where you end up. We take it race by race, but in the overall results, if he can be top three, we are happy, but we are not thinking about the title. Maybe we can look at a Grand Prix win, later in the season, you never know. At his age, 34 years of age, which is special, but physically he is still young and so motivated. To watch him work, he is so serious and motivated. But also, my other two riders, they also work so hard, and we have a great feeling in this team with our three riders.”
So, as the team takes a weekend off, and then heads to Sardinia, you just know that the deep sand of Riola will be something that will suit Coldenhoff. With his bike performing to his level, a podium seems a very good chance, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he even added Grand Prix victory number seven to his already impressive list of success.
