GUILLEM FARRES – HOME GRAND PRIX

One rider who is sure to get a lot of attention this weekend in Cozar, Spain for the MXGP of Castilla La Mancha is exciting talent, Guillem Farres. The 20-year-old Spanish racer will race for the Triumph Factory team this coming weekend and after a strong performance in round one in Cordoba, Argentina, he is excited to show his fellow countrymen what he is capable of.

“The weekend didn’t start so good in the qualifying race but in Sunday’s races I rode quite well,” Farres said. “We had a lot of rain in the morning but in the end the track turned out quite good. In race one I was sixth, so I was happy with that, but I had a bad start in race two and that made it a tough race. Before the next race I’ll be working on my starts and as it’s my home GP, I’m really looking forward to it.”

In Argentina Farres delivered a solid ride in race one, starting in the top five ensured he stayed out of trouble through the early laps, and he then maintained a strong pace to the finish. Running fifth for much of the moto, he dropped back to sixth when McLellan passed him in the closing stages.

The Spaniard couldn’t quite replicate his race one start in moto two and ran 12th for the whole race before moving into 11th with a couple of laps remaining. Farres placed seventh overall for a solid debut ride with the team and he now looks forward to his home GP in two weeks’ time where he’ll arrive placed 10th in the early season standings.

Since joining Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing in October, Farres has settled into his new surroundings very quickly and soon began fine-tuning his machine with the team in southern Spain. Despite possessing racing experience in both Europe and the USA, 2025 marks Farres’ first full season of racing in MX2.

“My pre-season testing and training has been really good and I’m excited to get the new season underway. Since I joined the team, everyone has made me feel really welcome and we’ve all put in a lot of hard work over the winter. Once I got comfortable on the bike, which didn’t take too long, I haven’t really changed much at all. We then rode at a lot of different tracks in the sand, mud, and hard pack, and I feel great on the bike. This year is my first in MX2 and I know it will be a tough one with a lot of races and we’ll go to many places that I’ve never been to before. So that’s exciting for me and I know that if I can ride to my potential then the results will come. For the opening round it’s quite good that we’re going to a new track as no one will have an advantage there, and my goal is to put good points on the board.”

And now, its onto Cozar for Farres, racing on a track that will suit his riding style, and with a little confidence from round one and more time on his Triumph machine, you can expect Farres to put in a solid weekend at home. No doubt, the support from what is expected to be a large crowd will make the job at hand, much easier.
