MXGP ACADEMY 2024 DEBUTS AT MXGP OF SPAIN

The inaugural MXGP Academy took place at Intu Xanadu Arroyomolinos during the MXGP of Spain, gathering young motocross enthusiasts eager to sharpen their skills and gain insights into the world of professional racing. This weekend, the MXGP Academy exclusively welcomed female riders as it coincided with the first FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship round of the season.
Under the guidance of seasoned mentors like Jan Postema, Martin van Genderen, reigning FIM WMX Champion Nancy Van De Ven, and FIM Women Commission Director Janika Judeika, alongside local trainers, participants dived into intensive training sessions throughout Friday and Saturday.
The program began with a comprehensive briefing for riders and parents, emphasising safety protocols and essential race etiquette. Parents, in a dedicated workshop, explored effective communication strategies, enhancing their support for their aspiring racers. Practical sessions followed, allowing riders to apply newfound knowledge and refined their skills under expert supervision.
Saturday morning offered a unique glimpse into the MXGP paddock, where participants tour elite team structures and gain exclusive insights into race-day preparations. From Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing to Red Bull infrastructures, and with a visit to Lotte Van Drunen's tent at De Baet Yamaha Supported Team, attendees engaged with the spirit of professional racing culture. A stop at the Dunlop truck highlighted the importance of tyre preparation in motocross, enriching their understanding of these critical race elements.
With six more coaching rounds open to both boys and girls scheduled across Portugal, Germany, Latvia, Czech Republic, Turkiye, and a final TBA location round, the MXGP Academy promises continued opportunities for aspiring racers to thrive in their pursuit of their motocross dreams.
