RIP Gennadij Moiseev

It is with deep regret that Youthstream bids farewell to the three time World Champion Gennadij Moiseev. The Russian Motorcycle Federation and the FIM have announced that on Sunday, July 23rd, Gennadij Moiseev passed away at the age of 69 due to a long fought illness.

Moiseev was known as an impeccable athlete and true inspiration to Soviet motorsports. The Soviet rider won the Motocross World Championship in 1974, 1977, and 1978. Moiseev was also part of the winning 1978 Russian Motocross of Nations team, a team which he later came to manage.

In the year 2000 he was elected the President of the Russian Motorcycle Federation (MFR), a role which he served diligently.

Youthstream, FIM Europe, the Russian Motorcycle Federation, and the worldwide motorsports community mourn his lost and give their condolences to the Moiseev family.
