SEEWER AND DUCATI

Ducati factory rider Jeremy Seewer isn’t a racer who is comfortable with just being there for the money. With 13 Grand Prix wins to his name and a number of top three finishes at the end of a season, the rider from Switzerland’s signed with the Ducati company, because he believes in the team.

Seewer has been known to be critical of some of his previous bikes and teams, but one thing is sure, he seems more than happy riding with the Italian brand, as he gets to know the team mechanics and engineers.

“So most importantly,” Seewer said. “With the people involved, the mechanics and engineers around the team based in Italy, I start to enjoy riding again and that's what you need to be successful. Even those first few days, I enjoyed it a lot, and I think the bike already is on a good level for sure, we need to put some work in, that's normal, but I think, it shouldn't take too long.”

What makes Seewer happier than anything else is the way his new Ducati handles in corners, something he has struggled with in 2024 on the Kawasaki machine. With a little more testing, the feeling of the multiple GP winner is that he can set some high goals in 2025.

“It corners incredible. Honestly like it's so funny, like this year, I struggled so hard with cornering, it would not turn as I wanted, and this bike now, it’s like it goes around the corner by itself. Like incredible, so good, you know, so that's insane and then half of the other parts are just suspension and frame. I need to learn something completely new, from KYB to Showa and I've never been on Showa, so yeah, that's the point and its not really negative, it's just that it takes time. Setting up a completely new bike is already a big thing and then making it with new suspension, new people, yeah, that's tough.”

As for goals in 2025, Seewer doesn’t want to get those goals just yet, but he does want to make sure he can race up front and not be stuck mid-pack and struggling. He also knows that the longer he gets to work with the team, on making the bike better, the higher his goals will be.

“I think the goal is, I don't know, it's so hard to say after two days on the bike. We need a few more months or weeks, but like the goal would be to win a race next year, to win a race would be insane for a brand just coming into GP. Especially the level where MXGP is at now, you know like, these guys are fast, and you know they know what they're doing and they're level in the first few guys is super fast. Right now, I am more trying to turn it around. I work as hard as I can this winter to get as far as I can without putting any pressure.”

So, as Seewer spends many days working on making the Ducati more to his liking, we all know that he will arrive at the early pre-season races looking to find his groove and get to a point, where he feels he can fight with the likes of Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Gajser, just as he has done in the past.
