Bobryshev back in MXGP

When news came through that Russian rider Evgeny Bobryshev would return to the MXGP class for 2018, I think the whole motocross world was excited. The always friendly and determined giant is one of the most popular riders in the world, and his signing with the all new BOS team finalized a tough winter for Bobryshev.
“I will do all the GPs,” Bobryshev said. “That is what I was looking for. It wasn’t a good winter. A difficult period and everything has been late. My pre-season started late, but I have done a lot of work with Neil (Prince), so that is good, and now the deal with BOS will make it easier for me to do GPs. I try and catch up the time and try and get as quick as possible to my routine and start working with the BOS team. I am happy I am still in MXGP, where I belong.”
Bobryshev’s good friend and former CAS Honda team manager Neil Prince was just the guy to help him out. Prince organized a Suzuki deal for Bobryshev and it will be a Suzuki that the Russian will race for BOS.
“For sure it’s different (changing brands), but I am really happy with how the Suzuki is. I am happy to work with Neil Prince, he is a good guy and clever with the bike. It’s easy to work on testing and have it sorted out quickly. It is another brand, and you can’t compare factory to private, but we do the best with it and we have maximum from it and we will be the best we can. At the very first it was difficult, you know eight years with Honda and to switch to another brand, but after a few days, to get used to the bike, and after that it was good. I had a standard bike, with pipe and electrics. For me the main thing is the base, you know the chassis and that was feeling good. We still work on the bike with Neil to get it right.”
Neil Prince is also excited to be working with Bobryshev again. The two know each other for more than a decade and no doubt the relationship will be healthy for both.
“We talked, and he told me he was having trouble getting a ride,” Prince said. “At first, he would just do the British motocross championship for me, but now he has the BOS deal it will be exciting doing all the Grand Prix’s. Everyone knows the speed he has, and I am sure we will get the bike sorted for him, so he can get back to where he was in 2017.”
Now Bobryshev will start his serious preparation for yet another GP season. First a trip to Spain to test and some pre-season races to get his fitness and confidence back.
