The Fourth edition of the Ride Green Cup this year in Australia

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 13 August 2018 - Dooen Recreation Reserve in Horsham, Australia will be the perfect venue to host the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship in 2018 and the fourth edition of the Ride Green Cup, which is focused in raising awareness and incentivising the environmental education of the young participants, their teams, family circle and the fans in their communities and countries. The Ride Green Cup is part of a series of sustainable projects promoted by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) between its various world and regional Championships.

This year the Ride Green Cup will be presented with the full support of Horsham Motorcycle Club, Motorcycling Australia, the championship promoter Youthstream and coordinated by the FIM.

The organisers of the contest have this year incorporated new activities that promote a positive environmental behaviour both in and out of competition.

This year the competition for the Ride Green Cup is based on the current World Environment Day theme of fighting pollution from non-appropriate use of the plastic in the world, reflected in the slogan:

“BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION – If you cannot reuse it, refuse it”

The team who wins must comply with a series of requirements concerning their environmental behaviour inside and outside the track and also to promote this behaviour among their sports circle and fans and will be invited to the podium to receive the award.

The jury will be composed by personalities and experts of the sustainable field.

David Luongo, Yousthstream Vice President: Motocross has always been linked to the nature, so it is very important to respect it and to have conscience that our different actions can have a big impact on it. In our behavior, our way of acting we are contributing to preserve it. Thank to FIM Ride Green Cup project, Youthstream is also very proud to be part of this education program where the kids will be taught in an enjoyable way on how to respect the nature and minimizing their impact while practicing their favorite motorsport. »

Kattia Juarez, International Sutainabilty Director: “For the FIM, young riders represent a responsibility not only in sporting matters, security and fair play, but it also they represent for us the responsibility to show them the path to a sustainable sport. We are proud to launch the fourth edition of the Ride Green Cup, which every year becomes more popular among the participants and organisers. The ride green cup has a very important purpose: Education, awareness, respect and responsibility. The main actors are the younger riders who become the best representatives and examples through an environmental education designed for our younger riders. In a fun and competitive way we are raising awareness and establishing actions that lead to the sport being more sustainable. Our desire is that our sport becomes a vehicle for these values and good practices are applied at home and as a consequence the riders are an example for their community.”

Seewer Moves to Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP

Yamaha Motor Europe N.V is pleased to announce that Jeremy Seewer has been drafted into to the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team where he will campaign a YZ450FM alongside the former MXGP World Champion Romain Febvre inside the 2019 FIM MXGP World Championship.

The former two-time MX2 vice World Champion has made a successful transition into the premier class, MXGP, where he has formed a special relationship with the Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP Team and has improved his performance onboard his YZ450F at each and every Grand Prix thus far.

With fifteen rounds from twenty of the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship complete, Seewer - who is currently eighth place in the Championship Classification and is the best placed rookie - will finish the season onboard a YZ450F with full support from the Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP Team where he might wrap the year up as captain of Team Switzerland at the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations in Red Bud, USA, on October 6th and 7th.

Jeremy Seewer, 2019 Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Rider: "It's really cool to have this opportunity, it feels amazing that after one year since moving to Yamaha I have already made it into the Factory Team, especially after what happened to me before I moved to Yamaha, so when I had no deal, Yamaha were the ones that took me and gave me a chance. I got to join the Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP Team and I am very grateful for that, and now one year later I am able to move to the Factory Team and that is awesome. At the same time, I am a little bit sad to leave the Wilvo Yamaha boys already, it's a great team with good people around me. They're like family to me, but still we need to move on and I am really looking forward to working with the Factory Team and on the Factory YZ450FM."

Erik Eggens, Yamaha Motor Europe MX Racing Manager: "Jeremy Seewer is an exciting rider to have onboard the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team. He joined Yamaha this year, after many years on another brand, and he had to move up into the premier class, MXGP, with a completely new bike and new team. That is not an easy transition for any rider, but Jeremy has done an amazing job and we feel that he is deserving of a place on the Factory Team in 2019. His season has been great so far, especially in terms of his progress and how he is racing. We feel that inside the Factory Team Jeremy will receive the support he needs to make that next step up onto the podium and this is something we are really looking forward to it."

Massimo Raspanti, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team Manager: "It is good news to have confirmation from Yamaha Motor Europe to have Jeremy Seewer join the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team. He has been getting stronger at every round this year and he is still improving. I think he is a good rider with a bright future and for us it's nice to have a young rider join the team, and one that already has experience on the YZ450F as it makes the development in the winter a bit easier than what it would if you have to start from scratch. We are really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together."

Tonus Renews Contract with Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP

Yamaha Motor Europe N.V are pleased to confirm that Arnaud Tonus will enter his third year with the Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP Team where he will contest the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship on board a YZ450F.

Having missed the entire 2018 MXGP season due to a shoulder injury he sustained at the start of the year, Tonus is excited to shift his focus to 2019 where he hopes to redeem himself with a top-five result in the 2019 FIM MXGP World Championship. The 27 year-old injured both shoulders in two different incidents in the off-season, and underwent a double shoulder reconstruction earlier this year. He has not been able to ride for more than six months, but was recently given the green light from his surgeon to start training again, and has already been out on the bike.

The Swiss rider said that he feels good onboard his YZ450F and is excited to return back to his best as he rebuilds his strength and confidence. Remaining with the Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP Team will see the super talent remain under the same structure that saw him achieve a podium finish at the MXGP of Trentino in 2017, a Qualifying Race win in Russia and a MXGP race win at his home Grand Prix in Switzerland.

Whether or not Tonus will return to racing this season is yet to be decided. More information will follow, when available, on all of the official Yamaha Racing social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, and Instragram.

Arnaud Tonus, Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP Rider: "It's amazing for me because I have formed such a great relationship with Louis and the team at Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP, and even better is that the YZ450F, the material and all of the equipment we use there is top level. I am really happy with the way the team works and the atmosphere there, I really feel like these guys are my family, so I am really excited to stay with them for another year, and to completely go for it."

Erik Eggens, Yamaha Motor Europe MX Racing Manager: "We are happy to continue with Arnaud for another season. This season has been difficult for him, but we feel that he still has a lot to offer and to prove, so we would like to give him another opportunity. He was very strong before the start of the season where we believe he was one of the fastest riders in the field. He needs stability to excel and we believe he has that with Louis and the team at Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP, so I hope that they can achieve their goals next season, and celebrate the success both Arnaud and the team deserve. With this news, we will give Arnaud the time he needs to rebuild his strength and return to 100% before he lines up to race. We are fully behind Arnaud in this time, and whether he lines up this year, or we don't so see him until next year, he will have our full support and we look forward to seeing him on the gate."

Louis Vosters, Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP Team Owner: "I am really happy that Arnaud has signed with us and Yamaha for 2019. Arnaud is a very talented rider, a technical one with many great skills. He has the mentality of a top sportsman and is a good character as well, so that is really positive and is something really nice for the Wilvo Yamaha team to have onboard."
