GET PRESENTS A PREVIEW OF THE NEW 2024 SX1 PRO 2T AND 4T ECUs

During the 2023 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Ernee, France, GET, a brand owned by Athena took the opportunity to present their new products along with stars from Team Australia, Jett and Hunter Lawrence.

The preview was bout the new SX1 PRO 2T and SX1 PRO 4T electronic control units, which will be on the market next November. GET is the leading producer of ECUs for motorcycles and off-road vehicles. These advanced devices are compatible with all electronic injection Motocross and Enduro models from the main Austrian and Japanese manufacturers.

Each SX1 PRO ECU will be part of a kit that also contains the SX1 Connect WiFi module, which allows mapping parameters to be set from smartphones. The kit will also include the SX1 Controller, an innovative handlebar control that allows riders to activate and manage a series of advanced functions, such as map selection, electronic shifting, traction control and launch control. The device is also equipped with LEDs that allow all this information to be easily viewable, ensuring intuitive and immediate control of the motorbike's performance.

SX1 PRO ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS

The SX1 PRO control units are the result of GET's deep commitment to OEM supplies for some of the most prestigious manufacturers on the market. Each electronic component, the production phases and the rigorous quality controls have consequently been raised to the highest standards.

The introduction of the SX1 platform marks a significant step in GET's aftermarket product offering through the adoption of a CAN-bus-based UDS (Unified Diagnostics Services) communication protocol and the implementation of a stringent Automotive validation plan. This approach brings the benefits of concrete improvements in reliability, speed, and efficiency. Two racing maps are pre-loaded in the internal memory of each control unit. They can be selected using the multifunction SX1 Controller, included in the kit. These maps are carefully studied and optimized for each specific application, to maximize performance in all weather conditions and on all types of terrain. The availability of the mappings that can be set is practically unlimited, thanks to the possibility of creating customized profiles with the WiGET app and uploading them to the ECU using the SX1 Connect module, also included in the kit. SX1 PRO ECUs feature a new evolution of GET's patented traction control technology, called GPA, which can be adjusted to 10 different levels depending on the rider's needs. Each SX1 PRO, both in the 2T and 4T versions, is designed for plug&play installation, easily replacing the original unit of the motorcycle.

These control units have been designed to meet the needs of riders of all levels, from professionals to enthusiasts. They are also the ideal choice for racing engine tuners, because they make it possible to customize and adapt each parameter through the professional Maya software, available separately. All SX1 PRO control units are produced completely in the GET laboratories in Italy, from the Research and Development processes through the assembly stage.

MULTIFUNCTION CONTROL – SX1 CONTROLLER

SX1 Controller opens a new chapter in the interaction between rider and motorcycle in off-road scenarios. This innovative handlebar control intuitively and immediately unifies all the functions necessary for a revolutionary riding experience. The 7 integrated LEDs provide complete visual control over the set mapping level, GPA traction control, and electronic gearshift activation. By using the GET Quickshifter sensor, available as an accessory, it's possible to integrate this functionality even on applications that originally do not support it. Furthermore, the SX1 Controller displays a view of the engaged gears (on KTM, Gas Gas, Husqvarna and Kawasaki applications), the activation of Launch Control, and reports of critical alarms such as engine overheating. Features and display modes can be customized via WiFi using the SX1 Connect module, included in every SX1 PRO kit.

WIFI MODULE - SX1 CONNECT

SX1 Connect is the lightest, fastest, and most compact Wifi module that GET has ever produced. It connects via smartphone or tablet through the free WiGET app and allows riders to make adjustments to the main engine parameters, such as injection and ignition, even on specific points on the map. SX1 Connect also offers the "Monitor" function to display operating and diagnostic data in real time and provide information about the hours of use of the control unit. It's also possible to calibrate the 0-TPS value, configure the functions of the LC-GPA accessory, and restore factory parameters, if necessary. Future updates to the app will make it possible to further customize the functions and information that can be displayed: for example, it will be possible to adjust the brightness intensity and select the colors of the SX1 Controller's LEDs for an even more personalized riding experience.

All GET products are the result of the experience acquired in the most prestigious international championships, such as MXGP and AMA. The SX1 line has also been developed in collaboration with Team Honda HRC USA, coming off a memorable season with the support of GET, both for the 250 and 450 classes.

The GET SX1 PRO 2T and 4T ECUs kits are available at suggested retail price of 879,99 € / 979.95 $ (VAT included).

YAMAHA RESTRUCTURE OPERATIONS IN FIM MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2024 SEASON

In a strategic move to build a strong foundation for the future, Yamaha Motor Europe announces the restructuring of its operations in the FIM Motocross World Championship for the 2024 season and beyond.

Starting in 2024, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team will be based in Genk, Belgium and will be managed by the highly experienced Hans Corvers. With an impressive track record of success, including 68 race wins, 99 podium finishes, 35 Grand Prix victories, and the MX2 world title with Maxime Renaux in 2021, Corvers will enter his 28th year with Yamaha at the helm of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team.

Both the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 teams will field three riders. Leading Yamaha's premier class efforts will be long-time Yamaha rider Maxime Renaux. Renaux will be joined on the gate by Jago Geerts, who steps up from MX2 to write the next chapter in his career, and Calvin Vlaanderen, the best performing satellite rider in MXGP who has earned a well-deserved opportunity to race with factory support.

In the MX2 category, the Hutten Metaal Yamaha Official EMX250 Team will step up to the World Championship in 2024 as the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team. Since its debut as an official Yamaha team in 2020, the Wim Hutten managed outfit has celebrated significant success, including 18 race wins, 24 podium finishes, and EMX250 titles with Thibault Benistant in 2020, Rick Elzinga in 2022, and Andrea Bonacorsi in 2023.

Yamaha and the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team have retained Thibault Benistant and Rick Elzinga for 2024 and will add to their line up this year's EMX250 Champion, Bonacorsi, as he takes the next step up the Yamaha Racing pyramid.

This restructuring is designed to strengthen Yamaha Motor Europe’s presence in the FIM Motocross World Championship by providing a fresh platform to fully maximize the potential of Yamaha's MXGP and MX2 riders.

Yamaha Motor Europe would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to Louis Vosters for his dedication to the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team over the past four years. His passion and commitment have been truly inspiring, and we wish him all the best with his future endeavors.

Paolo Pavesio
Marketing & Motorsport Director, Yamaha Motor Europe
“I would like to start by expressing my sincere gratitude to Louis Vosters and his team. We have worked together for eight successful seasons, during which I have always appreciated his dedication to our sport. I am also happy that Louis’ future challenge will keep him not too far from Yamaha. Looking to the future, we felt this was the right time to make the next step with our Motocross World Championship structure. In line with our step-up philosophy, we have taken this opportunity to promote two teams that have already brought Yamaha great success. On top of four riders’ titles, the YZ250F machines managed by the Kemea and Hutten Metaal teams have won seven of the eight Manufacturers’ titles between 2020 and 2024, which is an incredible feat. By stepping up a class, both teams will be reunited with riders in whose success they played a major part, and with whom they can now continue the journey. I am confident that, under the direction of Hans Corvers and Wim Hutten, the two teams are more than equal to the new challenge that awaits them in MXGP and MX2 respectively.”

Alexandre Kowalski
Off-Road Racing Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe
“Obviously, our focus now is on finishing an incredible 2023 season on a high, but we’re also preparing for the future. Again, we have followed our long-term strategy of the step-up program, which rewards success with promotion to the next level of the Yamaha racing pyramid. Following an impressive stint in MX2, where he’s been a regular championship contender aboard the YZ250FM, Jago Geerts will move up to the MXGP class with the same team in 2024, where he’ll be reunited with former teammate, Maxime Renaux. Joining them in the premier class will be Calvin Vlaanderen, who earned his place as a Yamaha Factory rider with impressive performances racing for the Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha MXGP Supported Team over the past four seasons. In MX2, former EMX250 champions, Thibault Benistant and Rick Elzinga, will again lead our assault on the championship title. For 2024 they will be joined by Andrea Bonacorsi, who steps up to MX2 as the reigning EMX250 champion. We are pleased to have put together such a strong rider line-up for the 2024 season, especially as all six factory riders come from within our own ranks, and we are confident that, once again, we will be at the forefront of both classes next year.”

The 2023 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations is a must-see event with the world's top motocross riders which guarantee an exhilarating weekend.

In the past three editions of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, the home nations have all claimed victory with Team Netherlands achieving a historical domination in Assen in 2019, securing their first-ever win in the event. In 2021, Team Italy with legend Antonio Cairoli emerged victorious in Mantova after a closely contested battle, clinching the victory by the narrowest of margins. Finally, in 2022, Team USA ended an 11-year drought in the competition in impressive fashion, winning on their home turf at RedBud amongst a sensational atmosphere.

This weekend, Team USA is the defending Champion and historically the best nation of the competition with 23 Titles. Their line-up will be Aaron Plessinger, R.J Hampshire and Christian Craig, and will want to win the first Chamberlain Trophy by Team USA in Europe since 2011.

Small Photos: 1. Team USA wins in 2022 2. Team France wins in 2015

Team France will be the home team and one of the favourites with Romain Febvre, Maxime Renaux and Tom Vialle. The three of them have been Motocross World Champion and look to be the ones to watch, especially with the large French following and supporting them at home. Febvre is on the best form of his career at the moment and loves this track as he was a flamboyant Open Individual Champion at the 2015 MXoN in Ernee. Vialle has spent his year in America, gaining a lot of experience. Renaux missed the last even of the MXGP Championship in Great Britain but it's now in full force and the team will work hard to make sure that the french star is back at his best for the MXoN.

Team Australia – One of the big favourites with the Lawrence brothers who have been incredibly successful this season in America. Jett Lawrence boasts a perfect record of 22 race wins out of 22 this season in the US and was the Open individual champion last year at the MXoN in RedBud. His brother Hunter won Pro Motocross in 250cc this season in what was a dream year for the siblings. The third rider is Dean Ferris who won the Australian MX1 Championship for the fourth time this season. Team Australia finshed third last season in RedBud but they never won the MXoN yet, they have all the quality to make it happen this year.

Team Belgium is the youngest team of the year with an average age of 19.3 years old. The strong Belgian trio will be led by Jago Geerts, Liam Everts and Lucas Coenen. Three riders that could well be the ones to lift the trophy given the great season the all experienced, which would give Belgium another MXoN title, 10 years after the last Chamberlain Trophy won in Teutschenthal in 2013.

The Spanish team will boast the newly crowned MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado into his ranks along with Grand Prix winner Ruben Fernandez and recently announced MX2 rider Oriol Oliver. They will be contender for the podium with a young yet experienced team. For Team Germany, the comeback of Ken Roczen to the MXoN after five years will be an immense boost for the team, with the lightening-quick Simon Laengenfelder who had a superb season in MX2 finishing 3rd in the Championship and Tom Koch who is completing the team in what will be an experienced line-up.

Photos: 1. Jett Lawrence dominates in RedBud 2022 2. Romain Febvre perfect score in Ernée, France 2015

There are other teams that will definitely fight for the top spots such as Team Netherlands that is lining up the same riders as last year with Glenn Coldenhoff, Kay de Wolf and Calvin Vlaanderen. They will all come back with a point to prove following their 7th place in RedBud last year. Team Italy, who finished 4th last year in RedBud will be another strong challenger with Alberto Forato who finished 7th in the MXGP Championship, the newly crowned MX2 World Champion Andrea Adamo and EMX250 European Champion Andrea Bonacorsi.

Besides the obvious favourites for the might trophy, there are other team that could play the troublemakers and produce some exploits such as Team Latvia composed of the Reisulis Brothers, Janis and Karlis and led by Pauls Jonass who has signed his return to the top in MXGP last month. Not to forget Team Switzerland who is going to play on their massive experience to clinch a resutl with the five-time Vice Motocross World Champion Jeremy Seewer, Arnaud Tonus and Valentin Guillod.

Photos: 1. Team Australia third on the podium in RedBud 2022 2. MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado in RedBud 2022

The 76th edition of the event will see the huge participation of 38 teams, including the special team representing FIM Latin America, and other teams coming from different continents such as Rep of South Africa, Chile, Guam, Puerto Rico, Morocco and Brazil. Expect an event that promises to be larger and more spectacular than ever before, with an exceptionally competitive roster that is adding an element of unpredictability to the final podium!

The MXGP Trophy was introduced in 2020, marking the inception of a new tradition within the FIM Motocross World Championship. This prestigious trophy stands as a tribute to the past, present, and future champions of the premier MXGP class.

Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado now engraves his name onto the revered MXGP Champions Trophy for the very first time. His remarkable year unfolded with the acquisition of the Red Plate from the very first race, to never surrender it. Prado's extraordinary season also included 14 Race victories, 11 RAM Qualifying Race wins, 2 Grand Prix triumphs, 16 podium finishes, and an astounding 219 laps led, showcasing unwavering consistency.

Back in 2020, Team HRC's Tim Gajser became the inaugural recipient of this coveted cup as he clinched his fourth world title. In 2021, the trophy changed hands, finding a new home with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Jeffrey Herlings, who secured his fifth Motocross World Title. About the trophy: The MXGP trophy is made up of two main materials, aluminium and carbon fibre base is formed by 6 pieces of anodized aluminium in three different shades: red at the bottom, and black and grey in the middle alongside the MXGP logo. In the grey parts we can find some filigrees inspired by motocross such as the starting gates of the tracks, the teeth on the bike sprockets, and more distinctive elements. The top of the trophy is formed by 16 twisted carbon fibre blades shaped into a cup to resemble the championship logo. The 20 stainless steel plaques wrapping the trophy are engraved with all the world champions’ names from 1957 until now in the main class.

The size and weight of the trophy symbolise the rugged nature of the competition, while its sharp, asymmetrical angles aim to encapsulate the precision and expertise of the riders, as well as the exhilaration and velocity of the races.

This exceptional trophy was crafted by the renowned Garcia Rojals Studio, based in Barcelona. The studio boasts an illustrious global reputation for its exceptional work in designing prestigious racing trophies, which includes the Moto GP World Championship Trophy and the World SBK Trophy.

The Motocross World Championship has witnessed an astounding surge in intensity and competition. The sheer speed demanded to excel in the Championship, particularly on some of the world's most challenging tracks, is nothing short of extraordinary. As a result, achieving the distinction of setting the Acerbis Best Lap during a Grand Prix is a remarkable accomplishment worthy of recognition and reward.

How does the competition work?
The Acerbis Best Lap Competition rewards at the end of each event, the fastest rider in MXGP and MX2 with a point. The rider with the most points in each class at the conclusion of the Championship receives a prize from ACERBIS at the MXGP Awards.

Throughout the years, with the standards in motocross increasing, the sophistication of equipment, and the skill levels of athletes, we have witnessed a corresponding increase in the significance of making a strong start. In every Grand Prix , the importance of strong starts is pivotal in securing an early lead to maximise the chances of success.

How does the competition work?
Every Grand Prix race, during both MXGP and MX2 races, the rider who crosses the white line painted on the ground at the exit of the first corner secures the Fox Holeshot and receives one point. This year, Jorge Prado of Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing claimed the Fox Holeshot Award crown in MXGP, marking his third consecutive victory in this category. Other topics also emerged, such as an always positive approach towards the outside world and the ability to react to the inevitable failures that the path of a rider entails, learning to manage emotional tension in a constructive way. Knowledge of languages is of fundamental importance to communicate with the entire team, who often speak a language other than their native language.

The highly anticipated guest was the British MXGP MRT Racing Beta Team rider Ben Watson, who told the participants about his first steps in motorsport, enthralling the audience of young riders.

The workshop closed with the speech from Matthew Wear, ACU General Secretary: “It was a great occasion and opportunity for you all to be able to participate in this event, I thank the FIM and Infront Moto Racing who hosted these very young British talents in such a provoking and spectacular setting.” This was followed by the presentation of the certificates to the participants by the FIM and the ACU to all riders, who were then able to attend the last round of the 2023 MXGP World Championship.

The next stage of the Ride to FIM Awards will be held on 25th November at Birmingham, UK at Motorcycle Live, an exhibition dedicated to two wheels, with the ‘FIM World Champions Day’, where some of the most decorated British World Champions will be in attendance. Among these will be two riders who together have won ten World titles, namely Carl Fogarty and Jonathan Rea.
