Van de Moosdijk Scores First EMX250 Win in Ottobiano

OTTOBIANO (Lombardia, Italy) 17 June 2018 - The Fiat Professional MXGP of Lombardia hosted fantastic racing but the Ottobiano round of the EMX250 championship provided perhaps the most intriguing races with its ultra competitive field. Taking the Overall victory via two strong races was ASTES4-TESAR Yamaha’s Roan Van De Moosdijk.

Spread across two days of racing the class was filled with talent. Saturday’s early timed sessions and Last Chance Race provided us with a 40 man gate for the championship points paying races. With several Italians in the mix the fans onsite were just as interested and vocal for the pair of EMX races. Saturday’s Race 1 gave us the first taste of who could handle the sand and heat of Ottobiano but today’s Race 2 was ultimately the deciding factor.

Race 1 was perfect for Team DIGA-Procross’ Dylan Walsh who took the Holeshot and led every single lap without hesitation. Behind Walsh was Honda Redmoto Assomotor’s Mathys Boisrame with his championship leader red plate. BUD Racing Monster Energy’s Brian Moreau was next and van de Moosdijk held 4th. With only 3 laps complete Moreau crashed while chasing Boisrame which gave third to van de Moosdijk.

Later Boisrame charged forward to close the lead down to the back wheel of Walsh but a strong response from Walsh gave him the race win with Boisrame 2nd, and van de Moosdijk 3rd taking third. Creymert Racing’s Kevin Horgmo took 4th after passing his way up from 7th and Yamaha SM Action - M.C. Migliori’s Maxime Renaux was 5th.

Today’s Race 2 was led off the start by Carglass Honda’s Steven Clarke with KTM Silver Action’s Gianluca Facchetti in 3rd. Team Suzuki Germany’s Jett Lawrence started the race in 4th and quickly turned it into a break through ride. Lawrence took 2nd on lap 2 after Facchetti crashed himself out of the race. Also moving forward a position was Moreau into 3rd and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Mikkel Haarup in 4th.

2 laps later Lawrence passed Clarke and left the Brit behind over the next 13 laps. Moreau was passed for third by Haarup 3 laps after Lawrence took the lead, but later crashed out the race also allowing Moreau to reassume 3rd. Van de Moosdijk was on a massive charge through the field from 15th on lap 1 to pass Moreau 4 laps prior to the finish.

Jett Lawrence took his first ever race win with Clarke 2nd, Van de Moosdijk 3rd, Moreau 4th, and previous championship leader, REVO Huqvarna UK’s Mel Pocock in 5th. In the Overall classification it was Roan van de Moosdijk’s consistent 3-3 that took the win over Walsh and Lawrence. Boisrame took 4th and grew his points lead over Pocock by another 6 points.

Boisrame and Hofer Take Lavtian EMX Wins

KEGUMS (Latvia) 13 May 2018 - The 2018 MXGP of Latvia is well underway from Kegums and joining in the action of the World Championship was the two FIM Europe classes of EMX250 and EMX125 presented by FMF Racing.

While the MXGP and MX2 classes are running their points paying races this afternoon the EMX riders started their championship racing Saturday and finished it up early today. Topping the overall standings was Honda Redmoto Assomotors Mathys Boisrame and KTM Junior Racings Rene Hofer!

A reversed track layout provided exciting racing both Saturday and Sunday in both classes but in EMX250 Race 1 on Saturday Estonia’s Karel Kutsar took the lead early and held it for the first 12 laps before Honda Redmoto Assomotors Mathys Boisrame took the premier position away.

Boisrame who started in 3rd also passed KTM Silver Action’s Gianluca Facchetti for second on lap 3 before overtaking Kutsar. BUD Racing Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Brian Moreau was running in 4th the first 2 laps but was passed by REVO Husqvarna UK’s Martin Barr and then Barr’s teammate Mel Pocock the 2 laps after that.

Team DIGA-Procross rider Dylan Walsh started in 7th but then battled with GL12 Racing’s James Dunn on his 2 Stroke KTM. Walsh originally took the spot as Dunn dropped 2 positions but the Brit and his 2 stroke mounted a charge to pass Walsh who finished 9th later on.

Dunn then came under pressure from Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory’s Mikkel Haarup but edged out the Dane to take 6th with Haarup 7th as Boisrame won over Kutsar and Facchetti.

Race 2 was a completely different race for Haarup who took the lead on the first lap and never looked back. Running in second the entire race was Pocock but behind him early was Ceres 71’s Paolo Lugana. However after only 2 laps Lugana starting dropping positions eventually finishing 24th.

Race 1’s winner, Boisrame started in 6th and battled with Martin Barr from the first laps. ASTES4-TESAR Yamaha’s Roan Van de Moosdijk was 4th on the first 2 laps but took over third from Lugana and held the position to the finish.

Facchetti who started the race 10th moved his way forward and on the last lap made a pass on Team Suzuki Germany’s Jett Lawrence for 5th. Also making a pass on the last lap was Barr on Boisrame for fourth in turn giving Barr the red plate over his teammate Pocock.

Dankers started to apply pressure to Benistant for the remainder of the race but couldn’t get by the young French rider. JD Gunnex KTM Racing’s Petr Polak came from 8th to 4th just beating out Yamaha Europe EMX125’s Jorgen-Matthias Talviku. Across the finish line it was Benistant who won over Dankers, Hofer, Polak, and Talviku.

Race 2 started out with Simon Laengenfelder leading and Polak chasing the Husqvarna rider. Meanwhile Race 1 winner, Benistant was off to a horrible start in 17th position and only managed to come back to 7th.

Rene Hofer started 5th but starting to make passes early before getting held up behind Polak for second. On lap 7 Hofer made his way past the Czech rider and only two laps later took over the lead from Laengenfelder.

At the finish Hofer took the race win and overall victory while Polak managed 2nd in the race after passing Laengenfelder which when combined with his 4th in race 1 earned him 2nd overall. Finishing out the 125 podium was Benistant with his 1-7 finishes. The championship points leader coming into Russia, REVO Husqvarna UK’s Mel Pocock, had a collision with BUD Racing Kawasaki’s Pierre Goupillon sending both riders down, Pocock was later disqualified from Race 1 due to unsportsmanlike behavior after the incident.

ASTES4-TESAR Yamaha’s Nicholas Lapucci started in 9th position but by lap 6 the Italian made his way into 3rd. The #53, Team Diga Procross’ Dylan Walsh, followed Lapucci through the field and battled with REVO Husqvarna UK’s Martin Barr on the final laps to take 4th over Barr’s 5th.

With 2 laps remaining Lapucci made a pass on Walsh for second and on the final lap of 17 Yamaha SM Action’s Maxime Renaux took another position from Walsh to finish 3rd. In the overall standings Nicolas Lapucci took his career first EMX250 win with Clarke 2nd and Walsh 3rd. Kras later dropped another position before the finish to Erik Willems from Belgium. Fellow Belgian Greg Smets who came to Russia second in the standings was unable to start race 1, and scored zero points.
