JININ (Czech Republic) 4th July 2026 – The future motocross stars of tomorrow are already here today, as the 2026 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship has started in spectacular fashion at the brilliant and historic circuit of Jinín in the Czech Republic.

Friday saw all 260 riders from 38 countries nations entered into the event presented and introduced to everyone in attendance. It was obvious they were all so proud to be representing their country, and the team presentations had a real carnival atmosphere with an abundance of colour and sound. Hosts Radka Mazáková and Vilma Forsgren first introduced Richard Gironi (CEO of the Czech Autoklub), Martin Venhoda (representative of the MS Kluky motocross club), Rodrigo Castro (FIM delegate), Marko Saareke (FIM Race Director), Patricia Maskarova (Infront MX Junior General Manager) and Nikos Psimmenos (FIM Sustainability Delegate) to the podium stage to talk about the success of previous FIM Junior World Championships, the excitement and anticipation of the 2026 event, and how the event continues to grow year after year.

Then it was the turn of all the riders to come up on the podium stage and embrace the moment in front of their families, friends and rivals, soaking up the atmosphere, and they all took full advantage, with many draped in their country's flag and all of them making as much noise as they could! When the host nation of the Czech Republic was introduced as the final team, their national anthem was accompanied by a live saxophonist performance from Michal Komárek, followed by a huge cheer and round of applause from everyone watching the presentation.

No question, the team presentation set the tone for Saturday and the on-track action, with qualifying underway for Sunday's main championship races. The world's fastest and most talented youth motocross riders got to work trying to qualify for the two world championship races on Sunday, starting with JMX65cc Group A.

The JMX125cc class, which consisted of 100 riders, was frantic, with all the young stars giving 100% to make the main races on Sunday. The margins between the riders, and for errors, were small. When the chequered flag fell at the end of the Group A qualifying, it was Denmark's Bertram Thorius (Fantic) who won the group, by just over half a second ahead of Travis Leok (Hus) representing Estonia. Switzerland's Emil Ziemer (KTM) finished third. Qualifying Group B saw Austria's Ricardo Bauer (KTM) come out on top. Switzerland's Ryan Oppliger (KTM) took second ahead of Liam Bruneau (KTM) for Team France in third. With the two groups combined, Bauer will go to the start gate as the fastest qualifier for Sunday's opening race.

The intensity went up another level when the JMX85cc class came out on track for their timed qualifying sessions. Pole setter in Group A was Tim Lopes for Team France on his Bud Racing Husqvarna, just 0.05 of a second ahead of Great Britain's Harry Dale. Third position belonged to Gregor Lootus (KTM) from Estonia. JMX85cc Group B saw Germany's Luca Nierychlo (KTM) top the group ahead of the Latvian duo of Patriks and Martins Cirulis (both Husqvarna). Team France's Lopes will line up for the first JMX85cc championship race as the fastest qualifier.

That group was topped by young Spaniard Gines Alacid (KTM), with Latvia's Valters Jurcenko (Hus) finishing second and Great Britain's Jack Waters (KTM) in third. In JMX65cc Group B, Dutch sensation Bas Verspaandonk (Gas Gas) not only topped the group but also set the quickest time to take the start gate for Sunday's opening championship race in pole position. France's Lucas Bos (KTM) finished second in the group, with Tommy Wood, representing Team GB, in third.

Last Chance Qualifiers

After two qualifying groups per class, the top 36 riders qualified directly for the two championship races on Sunday. That made the Last Chance Qualifying races for all groups highly intense and pressured, with parents and team managers looking more nervous than the riders themselves! The JMX65cc Last Chance Qualifying race was a good one for Martin-Markus Ansi. The young Estonian took the race win and transferred into Sunday's main championship races. In the JMX85cc LCQ, young Briton John Slade took a start-to-finish win to join all four of his fellow Team GB 85cc riders in Sunday's races. The JMX125 LCQ went by in a flash, with the top four battling hard all the way to the flag. In the end, the race was won by Spain's Alejandro Torres (Yamaha) by just 0.3 of a second ahead of Sweden's Jack Ljungnér.

After a picture-perfect day for motocross, with ideal track conditions and a brilliant atmosphere, the stage is set for the world's 40 fastest youth motocross riders in each class to battle it out to decide who will become the 2026 Junior World Champion, and which nation will come out on top as the best, crowned the Junior World Motocross winning nation. The stage is set. The motocross world awaits!

Junior Motocross World Championship

JINÍN (Czech Republic), 3 July 2026 – The 2026 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship kicks off Saturday, 4th July, in Jinín, Czech Republic. A total of 260 riders from 38 countries will take to the gate across the three classes.

The entry breaks down as 96 riders in the 125cc class, 84 in the 85cc class, and 80 in the 65cc class, with the world's next generation of motocross talent set to battle it out over the weekend.

Junior Motocross World Championship

JOHANNESBURG (South Africa) 3rd July 2026 – This weekend gives a full range of Motocross action across two events, being broadcast simultaneously from both Johannesburg in South Africa, and Jinin in the Czech Republic!

The 2026 MXGP FIM Motocross World Championships return to South Africa for the first time in 18 years this weekend, as the vast city of Johannesburg hosts the MXGP of South Africa at the Terra Topia MX Track, giving the MXGP and MX2 elite a serious challenge with elevation to deal with as well as a new country!

The Coenen twins, Lucas and Sacha, still lead the way in both Championships, but Jeffrey Herlings and Guillem Farres are chasing hard after them, and local boy Camden McLellan will be pushing hard for a home win!

South Africa is in the same time zone as Central Europe, and the races will be run slightly earlier than usual due to it being winter in the southern hemisphere, but all the usual TV broadcasters will be showing the event both live and delayed.

For the host nation, the channel SportyTV will be broadcasting LIVE on its linear channel and OTT in South Africa.  SportyTV is a 24-hour channel dedicated to sport and is available in South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya, as well as through its own SportyTV App, available on android and iOS.  SportyTV is Africa’s home for live sports, exclusive content, and unforgettable moments.

This exciting agreement will see STACYC provide entertainment and try-outs for the junior riders and their families during the event weekend.

The FIM Junior Motocross World Championship is the most prestigious global event for young riders and their racing careers. With 65cc, 85cc and 125cc categories, it’s where the next generation of talent cut their teeth against their international peers. The likes of Jett Lawrence, Jorge Prado, and Jeffrey Herlings have all taken victories in the Junior Motocross World Championship on their way to their professional careers.

STACYC, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year, will be fully integrated into the 2026 Junior event. Specifically designed, confidence inspiring bikes, which aim to get little rippers developing skills from an early age, form an innovative line-up of models to support the next generation of riders. The FIM Junior Motocross World Championship is the perfect platform for STACYC to showcase its products and support young riders during this incredible event.

On Friday afternoon of the race weekend (July 3rd) STACYC will organize an exciting activity for those at the event who are willing to show their skills riding STACYC’s electric balance bike. In addition, over the weekend STACYC will be offering try-outs in their specially devised set-up and encourage families to talk to their staff and get involved with their exciting offering.
