BONACORSI AND REISULIS CROWNED IN EMX250 AND EMX125 PRESENTED BY FMF RACING WHILE ROSSI AND REISULIS SHINE IN GREAT BRITAIN

MATTERLEY BASIN (Great Britain) 25 September 2023 – The ultimate round of the EMX250 and EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing displayed a lot of great racing across the board at the riders’ favourite track of Matterley Basin for the round of Great Britain.

In EMX250, it was Team VRT KTM Factory Juniors’ Marc-Antoine Rossi who closed the season from the best of manners with his second overall win of the season in front of his teammate Ferruccio Zanchi and Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Karlis Reisulis who cliched his first podium of the season in third place.

This last round witnessed the final decider in EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing that saw MJC Yamaha Official EMX125’s Janis Reisulis taking the European Title on the first race with a dominant win. The Latvian made it even better on his last outing in the category with a perfect win to clinch the last round of the season that he has ruled. Completing the podium of the round of Great Britain were Simone Mancini in second place for the first time this season and the ever-consistent Fantic Racing MX’s Maximilian Werner in third place.

Both classes experienced the final Championship podiums on the Sunday that saw in EMX250, Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Andrea Bonacorsi who was competing in MX2 over the weekend, getting officially crowned and received his gold medal while Husqvarna BT Racing Team’s Kay Karssemakers got the silver medal in front of Fantic Racing MX’s Cas Valk who received the bronze medal.

In EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing, Janis Reisulis jumped on the highest step of the podium to receive the Gold Medal while 737 Performers GASGAS’s Mathis Valin got his silver medal after securing it in the last round and Maximilian Werner accepted his bronze medal after a strong season.

In EMX250, Cas Valk got the best start as he came out of the second corner at the front ahead of Marc-Antoine Rossi and Fantic Racing MX’s Alexis Fueri. Unfortunately for Fueri, his good start went to waste when he crashed out of the 3rd place in the opening lap and retired rom the race. In the meantime, Valk was looking comfortable while Rossi had a close call but stayed in two wheels. After that Rossi regroup and started to look at one with his livery. This was acted when Rossi caught up with Valk on lap 4 of 12 and made a successful pass. Rossi quickly pulled away and flew to victory with a lot of confidence. Valk kept confirming his form with a solid 2nd place.

Behind them, Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Karlis Reisulis made a really good start to place himself in 4th and then 3rd after Fueri’s issue. From then on, Reisulis showed a good speed although he got caught with a couple of laps to go by Husqvarna BT Racing Team’s Maxime Grau and KTM Beddini Racing Team’s Valerio Lata. The Latvian showed that he can defend his position and finished 3rd in the end. Grau had also to contain a late charging Lata which he did efficiently with Grau finishing 4th and Lata 5th.

Following an average start in 11th place, the talented VRT KTM Factory Juniors’ Ferruccio Zanchi paced forward on lap 2 to overtake 2 riders and capitalised on Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Quentin Prugnieres bike issue as the Frenchman retired from the race while he was 7th. Zanchi in 8th put pressure on Husqvarna BT Racing Team’s Kay Karssemakers who didn’t have his usual flow. Zanchi made the difference on lap 8 when he passed the Dutch rider to finish 6th while Karssemakers finished 7th. Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Benjamin Garib showed very good promises as he rode for the first half of the race in 5th but made a mistake and moved down to 8th and finished there.

In Race 2, Grau made a great start as he quickly took the lead in front of Reisulis, however the Latvian showed great speed as he overtook him on lap 3 of 12 and pulled away. In the meantime, Zanchi started to pick up his pace and flow and quickly put Grau under pressure. Zanchi passed him on lap 4 and kept pushing to close on Reisulis. A lap later Grau got threatened by Rossi who was on a mission to win the round. Rossi didn’t take long to overtake his French countryman to go 3rd on lap 5. Zanchi‘s pace was incredible as he charged forward to launch an attack on Reisulis to take the lead. Not long after that it was the turn of Rossi to let his speed talk to go the long way round Reisulis and move to 2nd.  Reisulis got overtaken again a lap later by Lata.

No one could challenge Zanchi for the lead as he brought it home to get on the second step of the podium while Rossi comfortably finished in 2nd position to secure his second overall win of the season and end this year on the best of ways before jumping up in MX2. Lata on his side made an excellent race two but came just short of the podium with the 4th overall but another solid weekend for the Italian. Reisulis in the end managed to finish 4th to climb on his first podium of the season which is encouraging for next season.

Following a great start Grau could not contain the riders charging behind and had to settle for the 5th place, to go4-5 for 5th overall in front of Prugnieres who rode positively to gain several positions throughout the race overtaking the second in the championship, Karssemakers, on lap 9 to move up to 6th in the end. Karssemakers could not find the speed we saw throughout the season and settles for 7th after an average start for his standard finding himself in 8th on the opening lap. Prugnieres got another good 6th overall while Karssemakers finished 7th overall to keep his excellent silver medal in the championship.

Similarly to Karssemakers, Valk was not on his best form in Matterley Basin as he could not pass many riders in race two and had to settle for 9th to finish 6th overall and missed the podium for the first time in three rounds.

Andrea Bonacorsi: “It’s a season that we’ve worked for as we struggled last season a lot but we came back this season and we made it. It’s really good, I’m really happy and I want to thank all the team because without them I couln’t have achieve what I did this year. I’m very proud to be part of the Yamaha family and I want to thank everybody”

Marc-Antoine Rossi: “It’s a perfect weekend for me! Coming back like that after my injury is so great! Thanks to my all team for this great year, and especially this end of season, it has been really good!”

In Race 1, the best start was for Janis Reisulis who quickly got the lead and pulled away, showing great speed while his first rival in the championship 737 Performers GASGAS’s Mathis Valin was falling early in the race. Reisulis needed to finish at least 8th the get officially crowned but the Latvian didn’t wait for no one and flew at the lead to go and secure comfortably his European Title with a dominant race win. The whole MJC Team and his family was there to greet him after the chequered flag to celebrate this title in style. Reisulis showed again that he was the best out there.

Behind him, the two Fantic Racing MX riders, Elias Escandell and Maximilian Werner got a great start in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Escandell showed great speed as he found himself riding with no one around him to get an excellent and season’s best finish in 2nd position. Werner kept his usual flow and consistency to control his race and finish 3rd in the end.

Behind them, Julius Mikula pulled out a good performance after finding himself 7th on the turn of lap 1 of 12. Mikula overtook Noel Zanocz on lap 2 and rode behind the solid Simone Mancini for a while. Mancini who was 5th managed to pass Sturm STC Racing Team’s Mads Fredsoe on lap 8 to go 4th but had to deal with the fast-pacing Mikula again behind him on lap 10. Mikula got great lines and managed to pass Mancini with two laps to go to finish 4th while the Italian settled for a good 5th place.

In Race 2, Simone Mancini took a great start to jump out of the gate at the lead in front of the two riders at the top of the Championship, Reisulis and Valin. In the meantime, the two teammates, Werner and Escandell clashed on the first corner which jeopardised Escandell’s hope of a podium as he picked himself up in 20thposition. Werner was quick to get back on it to go back in 7th. Escandell would make an outstanding comeback to finish 11th and still get an excellent 4th overall.

At the front the fast-starting Mancini quickly got caught by Valin and Reisulis on the opening lap to move down to 3rd. Valin took the lead but the newly EMX125 European Champion was simply too quick this weekend and took the lead a lap later and pulled away very quickly. Reisulis went to ride the perfect race and won, 40 seconds clear of Valin who finished comfortably 2nd. Reisulis had the perfect end of the season to win his 4thround in a row and further dominate the category to jump in EMX250 with a sense of duty accomplished.

Mancini managed to hang on in 3rd place while keeping Vitezslav Marek at bay. Marek was pushing hard to pass Mancini but jumped too long at one point and went off track. Mancini solidly stayed 3rd until the end to clinch his first podium of the season. After having to retire in race 1, Marek showed that he has all the qualities to fight at the top with a really good 4th place in the end. Behind him was Maximilian Ernecker who kept riding consistently to finish 5th and go 8-5 for 6th overall.

It was another solid performance for Werner who gain a position from the opening lap to finish the race in 6thand clinch another podium. With a 3rd overall, the German rider who is still looking for a team next season proved that he has been one of the most consistent riders of the season to finish with a final 3rd place in the Championship.

Janis Reisulis: “What an absolute banger of a weekend it was! I also had the perfect race in the second race. I would call this season where I learned the most, some up and downs but I learned from them. This is the perfect way to the season especially with this round. I really want to thank everyone around me, the team, the whole Yamaha squad and my family as the put so much worked into it.”

GOLD MEDALS FOR PRADO AND ADAMO, PERFECT GAJSER IN MATTERLEY BASIN WHILE GEERTS WINS ON HIS LAST MX2 GRAND PRIX

MATTERLEY BASIN (Great Britain) 24 September 2023 – The nineteenth and ultimate round of the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship wrapped the season in style at Matterley Basin.

On a windy day at Matterley Basin which made riding even harder, the riders displayed some huge performances on the last outing with Team HRC's Tim Gajser coming out victorious with a perfect win going 1-1 and showing that he is back on top. Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Jeremy Seewer finished the season with a back-to-back podium getting the second place overall in front of his future teammate Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre.

In MX2, the battle raged on between for the Grand Prix win and the second place in the Championship and it was Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Jago Geerts who came out on top for his last MX2 Grand Prix, clinching the silver medal along the way on the last race of the season. Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Simon Laengenfelder finished on the second step of the podium after a race win and got the bronze medal of the Championship while MX2 World Champion Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Andrea Adamo celebrated his title with another podium in third place.

The beautiful track of Matterley Basin witnessed some amazing moments and incredible battles throughout the weekend to close the exciting 2023 season in style. The MXGP and MX2 final podiums did add to the celebrations with Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado receiving his Gold Medal officially and his trophy while Romain Febvre and Jeremy Seewer received their silver and bronze medal.  In MX2, the podium reshuffled for the Championship podium with Andrea Adamo receiving the Gold Medal, Jago Geerts the silver medal and Simon Laengenfelder getting his hand on the Bronze Medal. The day ended with the MXGP Awards where all the Champions of the season got celebrated and received their prizes along with the winners of the FOX Holshot, Acerbis Best Lap and Athena best rider competitions.

In Race 1, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Glenn Coldenhoff managed to snatch the FOX Holeshot just in front of Jorge Prado. Coldenhoff fought with the Gold Plate over the first corner but took the lead. Prado kept going but made a costly mistake on lap 6 as he fell and moved down to 4th after getting passed by Tim Gajser and Jeremy Seewer.

The front three riders pulled away with Coldenhoff at the lead who looked very composed but Gajser started to increase his pace and try several times to pace an excellent Coldenhoff. However, Gajser managed to find the opening on lap 12 of 14 and flew to victory. Coldenhoff was pushed to the limit by his teammate Seewer but Seewer was the quickest on the last lap and the pass stick to go 2nd. Coldenhoff had to settle for 3rd in the end.

Prado did very well to come back to touching distance of first Seewer and then Coldenhoff but could not pass them and finish 4th. Romain Febvre didn’t get the best start and found himself in 6th behind Team HRC’s Rubén Fernández. While chasing after the Spaniard, Febvre got an issue whit his goggles tears which made him lose some time. After regrouping, the French rider picked up the pace and managed to benefit from Fernandez’s fall to move up to 5th. He even managed to close in on Prado but settled for 5th in the end. Fernandez quickly got back up after tipping over and passed Standing Construct Honda MXGP’s Pauls Jonass on lap 6 to go and finish 6th. Jonass made a mistake in the last couple of laps and moved down to 9thwhere he finished.

Team Gebben Van Venroy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen rode well and was 8th but fell down on lap 8 and lost a position to a surprising Harry Kullas. Vlaanderen quickly took the 8th place back and settle there until the end. Kullas could maintain his pace but finished at a good 12th in the end.

Best season’s finish for KTM Kosak Team’s Tom Koch who displayed a strong ride as he gained a couple of positions during the race to finish 8th while the consistent De Baets Yamaha MX-Team’s Benoit Paturel showed again his talent to finish 10th.

In Race 2, Coldenhoff again got an amazing start and took the FOX Holeshot to take the lead in front of Gajser but this time didn’t lead as long as in the first race and conceded the lead to an impressive Gajser. The Slovenian pulled away and looked very composed and confident on his bike. No one could touch him this weekend as he went 1-1 for a perfect win which is the best way to finish his season and encouraging for next year.

Unfortunately, Coldenhoff could not concretised his amazing starts and laps led as he got overtaken by few riders to finish 5th and missed the podium by not much with a 4th overall. Febvre was o of the riders to push through the whole race after finding himself in 5th place on the opening lap. He overtook Fernandez and Coldenhoff to go 3rd o lap 5 of 14 and kept racing harassing his future teammate Seewer until he passed him on lap 9 to finish 2nd, forcing his way to the 3rd place overall.

Solid the whole weekend Seewer thought he would secure the 3rd spot in race 2 when a late charge Fernandez caught him by surprise on the last lap to finish 3rd while Seewer finished 4th but still went 2nd overall. Fernandez with a 6-3 finished 5th overall.

Vlaanderen keeps being very solid and a confident top 10 rider as he gained few positions to finish 6th to go 7-6 for 6th overall. Vlaanderen showed oe last time that he is one of the most consistent riders of the season. Behind him was Jonass who is riding superbly since his return to get another top 10 finish going 9-7 for 7thoverall. V Ship to Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz’s Valentin Guillod got a good start going 6th on the opening lap but then lost few positions to settle for 8th and 11-8 for 9th overall. One of the best performers in Great Britain was Koch who finished again in the top 10 and riding the whole way through in 9th without getting overtaken. Koch got his best finish of the season with the 8th overall which is ideal before his Monster Energy FIM MXoN in Ernée with Team Germany.

Home hero MRT Racing Team Beta’s Ben Watson got support from the home fans and went 13-11 for 13th overall before heading to the nation with Team GB. Few riders didn’t compete today including Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux, Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Mattia Guadagnini and SM Action Racing Team Yuasa Battery MXGP’s Alberto Forato which should comeback for the MXoN and compete with Team Franc for Renaux and Team Italy for Guadagnini and Forato.

Jorge Prado: “It was a great season, a pity about that last round as I thought I had a good speed. I was just expecting to do a bit better but hey, it was great year. I cannot ask for anything better. This was the main goal and we got it done. I’m super happy and I want to say a big thanks to Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team and everyone behind me because this Gold Plate looks great!”

Romain Febvre: “It was a pretty good season, It was the year I won the most GPs in a season so it means something and I also had the speed. The first quarter of the season was not great but the rest really good and im up here on the podium today again. Another second place in the Championship so I’m very happy and let’s keep working for next year”

Jeremy Seewer: “I feel good and bad about this season. Obviously I had a crash in Switzerland ad hit my head and I struggled to come back and it took a while to come back where I wanted to be but I turned it around which is the most difficult and I come back to fiinsh third I the Championship with few GP wins which is incredible. Of course I will be entirely satisfy when this medal will be a gold one but anyway I think I can be proud of what I achieved.”

Tim Gajser: “I couldn’t wish for a better end of the season, you know. Achieving 1-1 in Matterley Basin that I always enjoy. I was really enjoying it today. The track was quite tough but I managed to take two solid starts so I think it was really good to lead some laps too so I’m really happy. I want to say thank you to all my team who worked so hard especially when I came back from injury and I’m so happy that we could finish the season strongly and I am super motivated for next year”.

Simon Laengenfelder took the best start once again to get his 11th FOX Holeshot this season and the lead in front of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Thibault Benistant and Jago Geerts. In 3rd, Geerts quickly got under pressure from Andrea Adamo on lap 3 while Laengenfelder pulled away from Benistant and set a fastest lap.

Benistant managed to get a solid race even when his teammate Geerts started to increase his pace behind hm and pushed hard to not lose many points for the silver medal in MX2. Laengenfelder was riding his own race when on lap 8 of 12, he got caught by Benistant and Geerts who were pushing each other. Laengenfelder held on at the lead to win his 8th race win of the season.

Geerts threw everything at Benistant until the very last corner when the pass seemed very possible. In the end Benistant showed a lot of determination to stay 2nd while Geerts had to settle for 3rd, losing 5 points on Laengenfelder in the Championship and jeopardising the silver medal of the championship

The MX2 World Champion Adamo has showed a lot of consistency during the race like he did the whole season as he rode the whole race in 4th. Behind, things seemed to settle in the top 10 as not many riders managed to overtake each other keeping the status quo with Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Roan Van de Moosdijk, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay de Wolf, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Liam Everts finishing in 5th, 6th and 7th place respectively.

In Race 2, Everts rose above everyone from the gates drop to clinch the FOX Holeshot however he couldn’t keep the lead as long as he wished with an impressive de Wolf launching a successful move to take the lead on lap 2 of 14. De Wolf showed impressive pace in front of Adamo who passed his teammate Everts on lap 3. Both riders were composed and de Wolf eyed a great podium for the last GP of the campaign but Geerts had other plans.

Following an average start for his standards, the Belgian found himself 5th behind his rival for the 2nd place in the Championship, Laengenfelder. At that point, Geerts was out of the podium and third in the final standings but he was determined to show his best level as he first overtook Laengenfelder on lap 3, then Everts on lap 4 to move up to 3rd. It was still not enough as Laengenfelder also passed Everts on lap 7 to secure his 2nd place in the Championship. That is when Geerts paced forward even more to join the front two riders. His pace was outstanding as he dived inside Adamo to go 2nd on lap 12. At that points Geerts was back on the podium and took back the silver medal but he wasn’t ready to stop until no riders was in front of him. On lap 13, after being heroic for most of the race, de Wolf could not defend on Geerts, lost the lead and the podium with it. The Dutch rider tried to fight back but it was too late and Geerts flew to victory win the Grand Prix of Great Britain and the 2nd place in the Championship on his last MX2 race.

De Wolf agonisingly finished 4th overall while Adamo went 4-3 for 3rd overall. The MX2 World Champion finished his immense season on a good note before heading to the Nations. With his 4th place, Laengenfelder secured the 2nd place on the podium but lost the final championship battle with Geerts. Laengenfelder still got the Bronze Medal like last season. Everts had to settle for 5th to go 7-5 for 6th overall.

Benistant rode solidly the whole race in 7th position and even passed Van De Moosdijk towards the end to finish 6th for 5th overall while Van De Moosdijk settled for 7 ad the 7th place overall.

Andrea Adamo: “I still need to have a bit more time to realise that I am World Champion as we didn’t have a lot of time between the races. It was a long season and the whole year was challenging as all races are tough. I always have been the consistent rider and I will bring that with me for next year. I am also very excited to go to the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations as we have a good team although my teammates didn’t have the best weekend here I hope we can have a strong one”

Jago Geerts: “I’m happy that I finished the season and my MX2 career on a GP victory here and overall I’m proud of all my season as I came back twice to finish in the end at the second place. It was good that I came out on top today and I am looking forward to ride in 450cc already at the Nations and then next season”

Simon Laengenfelder: “I felt very good this weekend and I felt fast, unfortunately Jago was the fastest in race two but I really can be proud of myself to come back after getting injured and miss three Grand Prix. It’s never easy to come back but I did well and I’m happy to be third again like last year”

MXGP WORLD CHAMPION PRADO WINS HIS 11TH RAM QUALIFYING RACE WHILE LAENGENFELDER DOMINATES IN MX2

MATTERLEY BASIN (Great Britain) 23 September 2023 – The beautiful track of Matterley Basin hosted the last RAM Qualifying Races of the season on Saturday for the MXGP of Great Britain.

One of the riders’ favourite tracks gave them a lot to work for as it challenges everyone across the board with its high speed and changes of rhythm that proved to offer some exciting battles.

In MXGP, the newly MXGP World Champion Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado celebrated his title with his 11th pole position of the season in front of the ever-consistent Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre. Rounding the top three was Team HRC's Tim Gajser.

In MX2, the outstanding Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Simon Laengenfelder shined again with his 5th RAM Qualifying Race win of the season on what seems to be a successful track for him as he won his first MX2 Grand Prix of his career last season. The new MX2 World Champion Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Andrea Adamo showed up with a 2nd place in front of Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Jago Geerts.

In EMX250, Team VRT KTM Factory Juniors’ Marc-Antoine Rossi managed to come out victorious in the first race while in EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing, the title was decided with an immense performance from MJC Yamaha Official EMX125’s Janis Reisulis who controlled the race early to win it comfortably and with it secured his first EMX125 European Title before jumping to EMX250. Reisulis who won five rounds this season, showed a lot of talent and power this season.

The day was closed by a cool Paddock Show that saw the MXGP and MX2 World Champions, Jorge Prado and Andrea Adamo being introduced to the public along with the MX2 RAM Qualifying Race winner Simon Laengenfelder. The other guests present were the EMX250 European Champion Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Andrea Bonacorsi and EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing European Champion Janis Reisulis. The home heroes MRT Racing Team Beta’s Ben Watson who will represent Team Great Britain at the 2023 Monster Energy FIM MXoN and Shaun Simpson who got welcomed cheering fans.

In MXGP, it was the best starter of the year Jorge Prado who got the better of the pack and came out of the first couple of laps at the front ahead of Romain Febvre and Tim Gajser. The front three riders quickly pulled away from the other riders and created a consequent gap with the best of the rest Team HRC’s Rubén Fernández. Things seemed to be set at the top for the entire race although Febvre started to pick up his pace to get closer to the leader Prado. The late charger specialist Febvre gave some cold sweat to Prado who had to stay focused until the very last turn to maintain the lead. The Gold Plate showed that he can keep his composure in all circumstances and won the race in the end less than a second in front of Febvre. Gajser could see them battling in front of him but settled for another good 3rd place.

Fernandez on his side rode a consistent and solitary race in 4th for the whole race without being worried by anyone. Behind him, Ship to Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz’s Valentin Guillod showed an incredible determination and pace as he found himself in 7th place on the start to quickly take on his countryman Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Jeremy Seewer and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux over the course of a couple of turns to move up 5th on the opening lap. The Swiss maintained his position until the ed of the race. Renaux on the other side, went down when Guillod passed him and picked himself up well behind to finish in 18th place. Seewer hanged on in 6th but on lap 2 of 10, made a mistake and picked himself up in 15th place. The Swiss battled the whole race to move forward and finished frustratingly just outside the points in 11th place. It was a solid day for Team Gebben Van Venroy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen who started in 7th but capitalised on Seewer’s mistake to move up to 6th. The Dutch rider managed to keep the 6th place until the end while his countryman Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Glenn Coldenhoff didn’t take the best start as he got into 9th but powered through on lap 2 to pass De Baets Yamaha MX-Team’s Benoit Paturel to move up to 7th and finished there. Paturel clinched another top 10 and raced consistently in 8th place.

The riders rounding the top 10 were once again Standing Construct Honda MXGP’s Pauls Jonass who shows that he can gets good results riding the whole way through 9th while MRT Racing Team Beta’s Alessandro Lupino got score a point with the 10th place which is really encouraging for the Sunday races. His teammate and home rider Ben Watson struggled to get a good start and found himself battling to get the 13th place.

Jorge Prado: “It was a good race as I started first and obviously got the win. I’m very happy for today. It was really nice and the track is very good this year, I was enjoying it a lot!”

In MX2, the battle raged throughout the whole board and it was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen who took the best start in front of Simon Laengenfelder and his brother Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen. On the opening lap, L.Coenen overtook Laengnefelder for 2nd and we saw that we were going to see a battle between the two brothers for the lead but Laengenfelder decided otherwise when he made outstanding moves to overtake them both and take the lead on the turn of lap 1. Laengenfelder was on a league of his own and flew to victory with a very good margin.

L.Coenen was battling with his brother when he went down on lap 2 of 10. The race for him was done as he picked himself up in 14th and finished in 13th place. S.Coenen on his side raced in 2nd place until lap 5 when couldn’t contain the pace of the Gold Plate Andrea Adamo. Adamo showed a lot of composure to finish 2nd. Things got bad to worse for S.Coenen as Jago Geerts pushed behind for several laps. S.Coenen showed incredible bravery as he held his ground for a while but had to concede on lap 8. Geerts and Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Roan Van de Moosdijk found the way to pass him one after the other and S.Coenen had to settle for 5th in the end.

Geerts went on to finish 3rd and lost 2 points to his closest rival, Laengenfelder for the 2nd place on the final Championship podium. With 2 points separating them before Sunday races, the battle will be immense for both riders. Van De Moosdijk managed to shadow Geerts to finish 4th in the end.

The ride of the day was for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay de Wolf who following a bad start going 12th in the opening lap, the Dutch rider displayed all his skills to overtake riders after riders. De Wolf pushed hard and put pressure on the newly EMX250 European Champion Andrea Bonacorsi who made the jump in MX2 to acclimate himself before next season. The Italian made a great race showing that he has the level to compete at the highest level as he defended amazingly on de Wolf and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Thibault Benistant over the last three laps. In the end the determined de Wolf still managed to pass the Italian to finish at a great 6th place given his start while Bonacorsi finish 7th as he kept Benistant at bay to leave him behind in 8th.

After crashing on the last race in Maggiora, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Liam Everts maybe felt still a bit bruised as he couldn’t get the best start and went 11th on lap 1. That didn’t stop the Belgian to get back at it and find his rhythm fight his way into the points. In the end he managed to salvage a 9th place and 2 points to stay in contention for the 2nd place in the Championship.

Another amazing performance was from the American Big Van World MTX Kawasaki’s Jack Chambers who fought hard after getting to 13th on the opening lap. Chambers gained 2 positions on lap 2 and kept a good pace to then capitalised on Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Rick Elzinga’s crash on lap 7 to move up to 10th. From then on Chambers kept his rank with confidence to finish 10th and get a good point while Elzinga had to settle for 11th in the end.

Simon Laengenfelder: “It wasn’t so easy as the track was quite sketchy with ay hard spots. But I could pass the two Coenens for the first place and then I could make a nice gap and control it to the end. I’m really happy to take the 10 points for tomorrow!
