KAWASAKI WITH F&H RACING IN 2019

Kawasaki and F&H Racing will contest the FIM Motocross World Championship MX2 in 2019 with Britain’s Adam Sterry and German Henry Jacobi, Roan van de Moosdijk and Marshal Weltin will race EMX250.

With F&H Racing receiving increased support from Kawasaki Europe next year both Sterry, who celebrated his twenty-second birthday two weeks ago, and Jacobi, who turns twenty-two next month, will be eager to chase MX2 honours next year, their final season in the class, whilst American Weltin and exciting young Dutch talent van de Moosdijk will chase gold in the European EMX250 Championship.

2019 will mark Sterry's second season with F&H Racing and the Welshman will draw on both his natural talent and his close working relationship with Kawasaki Europe and the team to advance to the very forefront of the world scene. Already a top six runner during the early rounds of this year's series, he has defied a niggling ankle injury during the second half of the season to return consistent top ten results after sitting out several mid-season races. A short period of recuperation after the final GP in Italy at the end of the month will precede a solid winter of preparation to be perfectly prepared for the start of the 2019 season at the end of February.

Jacobi, already assured of a top ten world ranking as he heads into the final two rounds of the series, will join Kawasaki determined to advance yet further up the rankings with the state-of-the-art KX250F. Coming off an inconsistent season aboard another brand, the ex-world junior champion will be determined to build on his undoubted gating skills more regularly aboard the green rocket ship to also mount a challenge for medal placings. Taking a clear points lead into the final round of the German ADAC Masters series next weekend, he will join F&H Racing after representing his country in the season-ending Motocross of Nations contest next month.

Weltin, the amiable American who joined F&H Racing mid-season and immediately posted a string of top ten GP scorelines, returns next year to the European EMX250 Championship, a series where he has unfinished business after ranking sixth in 2017. The European series, in which young talent can learn their trade against experienced rivals, has proven to be a first-class preparation for the world stage and the impetus of a title has produced top class racing.

Van de Moosdijk is undoubtedly one of the outstanding teenage talents in the sport and will join F&H Racing and Kawasaki next month after completing his commitments to his current team. The seventeen-year-old has enjoyed support from Italy throughout an impressive youth career and maintained those contacts for his entry to 250cc racing this year in the European championships in which he has already recorded six moto podiums; naturally he jumped at the opportunity to join Kawasaki and the high-profile F&H team as he chases European gold next season and will get his first taste of GP action at a number of rounds.

Adam Sterry: “Next year I will stay with the F&H team, and for the first time in my pro career I will have the same mechanic as the previous year! We worked well together, we worked well with the team and I’ve learnt a lot myself this season; I just hope to stay injury-free of course. I want to finish this season strong and then have a really good off-season to prepare for 2019. I live in Holland now so I’m close to the team and that’s easier for us to work together. I will have a lot of sand training, a lot of wet days in Lommel this winter; that’s one of the keys for a successful season."

Henri Jacobi: “It’s quite a big step for me to join the F&H team because it’s the first time ever in my career that I am a professional rider. Next year will be my last season in the MX2 class as I will turn 22 soon, and I want to have a strong season. I’ll be giving my best and I think that I will now have the best people around me to achieve really good results. I surprised myself this season when I got my first GP podium so early in the series and now I want more! I will work on my condition next winter, work closely with the team and I’m sure I will make another step.”

Marshall Weltin: “I’m really happy to be part of the team next season again. Since I joined the F&H team and came back on a Kawasaki we had some good results and I want to thanks the Fase family; I’m so grateful for everything they did for me. I feel at home in this team and I know that after a good winter I will be really strong next season in the European Championship."

Roan van de Moosdijk: “I’m looking forward to next season, and it’s a great opportunity for me to join Kawasaki and the F&H team. I will have a great new bike and it will be much easier to join a team based in Holland where everyone speaks the same language after spending several seasons in a foreign squad. The goal is of course to try to win the European title; since the middle of this season I got some great results with a couple of podiums so I hope to do the same next year, and I'm also looking forward to racing some GPs to prepare for 2020. I was brought up racing in sand since I was a kid but I showed with a podium result in Bulgaria that hard-pack is not a problem for me."

Nathalie Fase (Team Manager): “We’re getting bigger and bigger and also more professional each year and the increased support of Kawasaki Europe is another step; it will help us to reach the next level. We got our first MX2 podium result this year; it came sooner than we could expect and of course we want more. It’s our dream to deliver Kawasaki many more MX2 podiums. Our riders did a good job, we’re all improving and I’m really happy with the four riders who will race for F&H Kawasaki next season; we decided to step it up in the MX2 class next year but also to have a strong programme in the EMX250 with the goal to fight for the title. I want to thanks Kawasaki Europe for their support, and also our main sponsors such as F&H Crone, Merwestaal and Noordenne Staal.

MXGP of Belgium Secures MXGP spot through 2022

ASSEN (The Netherlands) 15 September 2018 - Following today’s qualifying racing and press conference in Assen a special presentation took place from Youthstream and the local organizers of the MXGP of Belgium in Lommel assuring its place on the MXGP calendar for the next four years.

The MXGP of Belgium at Lommel is famously known as one of the most challenging races in the world and it was with great pleasure that Youthstream Vice President David Luongo announced together with FIM/CMS Director Tony Skillington and Organizers of the MXGP of Belgium Johan Boonen and Jo De Munck the future of the event.

Both David Luongo and Tony Skillington noted the long term partnership highlighting the continued efforts put in by the Belgian organization to improve the event and provide an amazing venue with top facilities in the heart of Belgium. One of the best known venues on the calendar is the weekly training ground for many nearby teams and has seen some of the best racing that truly rewards the most skilled and fit riders.

Johan Boonen and Jo De Munck also noted that the new agreement marks a special moment assuring that the work of the late Eric Geboers, long time organizer and motocross legend, will carry on for many years.

The signing of the new 4-year agreement is the first without the presence of Geboers but was in part due to his years of dedication and efforts. The signing took place in front of onsite media and industry members who then took the opportunity for a family photo with the representatives.

Three Young bLU cRU Talents to Win Yamaha Support in 2019

The third running of the YZ125 bLU cRU Cup is now drawing to a successful close. Following the amazing reaction and enthusiasm for the all-new YZ65 and updated YZ85, Yamaha Motor Europe is excited to announce that the bLU cRU Cup program has expanded. In 2019 the bLU cRU Cup SuperFinale will expand to be made up of three classes, YZ65, YZ85 and YZ125 where one rider in each class will win a 'ride' with a Supported Yamaha team for the following year.

For young and ambitious off-road riders, the bLU cRU Cup provides the perfect entry into Yamaha's racing pyramid. Riders that race a YZ65, YZ85 or YZ125 in one of the seventeen approved National Championships across Europe can apply pre-season to be part of the program.

The program is made up of two phases. Once accepted, Phase 1 will see the rider provided with a bLU cRU package that includes Yamaha Racing Paddock Blue clothing and a bLU cRU sticker set for their YZ65, YZ85 or YZ125 machines, which they are required to use in one of the officially approved National Championships. Each rider will receive added support from their chosen Yamaha distributor that aims to assist them in the development of their riding skills and career.

The second phase will commence as each championship draws to a close. 40 YZ65 riders, 40 YZ85 riders & 40 YZ125 riders will be selected to attend the Yamaha bLU cRU Cup SuperFinale at the 2019 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in Assen, The Netherlands. The riders that finish inside the top three, plus two wildcards in each class will be invited to attend the exclusive bLU cRU Masterclass.

The Masterclass has been created to inspire, educate and develop the next generation of motocross riders, providing an exclusive insight into building a championship career. It will be run by a highly acclaimed bLU cRU ambassadors, Jeremy Seewer, Kiara Fontanesi, Arnaud Tonus, Michael Van Der Mark, Alex Lowes, and Niccolò Canepa, and will take place over three days. The Yamaha jury will select and reward three lucky riders who have demonstrated their talent, motivation and desire to be something great, with Official Support in one of the three 2019 European Championship seasons in a Supported Yamaha Racing team.

The bLU cRU Cup is the foundation of Yamaha's racing pyramid, where local distributors support regional and national teams in motorcycle championships. Road racing and motocross communities grow and thrive, as young fans become active participants and ambassadors, enjoying a lifetime of Yamaha product support and promotion. Since the launch of the YZ65, and with the updated bLU cRU program, it has never been easier for a rider to join the 'victorYZone'.

David Luongo, Youthstream Vice President: "The strategy behind the bLU cRU Cup is completely in line with the idea we, Youthstream, have to enhance the future of motocross. We also used this idea to grow the sport using the 'pyramid' technique where the European Championship EMX125, EMX250 and the progressing up to MX2 with MXGP being the tip. We are now working to make the floor zone of the pyramid, the EMX65 and EMX85 classes. It is very important to have the support of the manufacturers in this project, and we are very happy to support Yamaha's involvement in the growth and development of the youth. It is very positive for the sport and the championship, and it is very important to build up the talent of the future in the correct way with the correct guidance. For this I would like to thank Yamaha Motor Europe for their support and commitment to the growth of young riders and the championship."

Tony Skillington, FIM/CMS Director: "First and foremost I would like to thank Yamaha Motor Europe for taking this initiative. I think it is a fantastic opportunity for the kids to start racing motocross in a very professional and structured manner and I think it is very important to have these initiatives in place because it is important for the next generation of talent to be introduced to racing and taught in a professional way, so for this, we are happy to support Yamaha in this fantastic project."

Paolo Pavesio, Yamaha Motor Europe N.V Marketing Division Manager: We started the bLU cRU program three-years ago focusing on YZ125 riders around Europe, and since then more than 300 young riders have participated in the program. The support of Youthstream and FIM Europe has been key since the beginning, and this new three-year agreement proves that we share the same long-term vision and goals of both growing the sport, and helping develop young racers. Following the launch of the new YZ85 and YZ65 machines we now want to make it possible for kids to first and foremost enjoy riding, secondly, to learn, and for the riders that have a special talent and are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, we would like to offer them our support in helping them grow with the aim of becoming professional racers. This is the motivation behind the path that Yamaha is building, starting from the 65cc division, through to 85cc and then eventually into the EMX125 Championship onboard 125cc motorcycles. I would like to thank Youthstream and FIM Europe for their support in this fantastic project, and we cannot wait to see the bLU cRU riders sharing the same track with the MXoN legends during the SuperFinale in the years to come."

Herlings and Prado Score Qualifying Wins in Assen

ASSEN (The Netherlands) 15 September 2018 - The 19th round of 20 in the 2018 FIM Motocross World Championship has begun at the Dutch circuit of Assen. The MXGP of the Netherlands hosted Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Dutch superstar Jeffrey Herlings and Spanish young gun Jorge Prado as they took the Assen sand by storm for Qualifying wins today.

Along with the MXGP and MX2 World Championships in Assen this weekend is the penultimate round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship. Race 1 of the women’s weekend took place this morning and was full of action but rising to the occasion with a consistent day was MXFONTA Racing Yamaha’s Kiara Fontanesi. Fontanesi has taken the points lead with Altherm JCR Yamaha’s Courtney Duncan out with injury. Taking second today was Germany’s Stephanie Laier while Nancy Van de Ven took third.

The European Championship of EMX125 presented by FMF Racing and EMX250 also join in the action this weekend with both having their first races today. In EMX125 presented by FMF Racing F4E Racing KTM’s Kjell Verbruggen took the race win but all eyes were on the two title contenders of MJC Yamaha’s Thibault Benistant and Team Maddi Racing Husqvarna’s Mattia Guadagnini. Benistant came into the race with the chance to capture the title but the tricky sand of Assen made it one of the most testing races of his season so far. After a poor start and a crash Benistant fought through all to score 20th position for a single championship point. The single point however was the most important and gave him the 26 point gap needed to clinch his first ever European championship title in dramatic fashion.

With the Bulgarian round crowning Honda RedMoto Assomotor’s Mathys Boisrame 2018 EMX250 Champion a few weeks ago this weekend’s season finale is an all out sprint from all to score an overall win. Taking full advantage of the final weekend of the year so far is Team Suzuki Germany’s Jett Lawrence after he passed LRT KTM’s Tom Vialle for the race win while Creymert Racing’s Kevin Horgmo took third.

This weekend in the Netherlands could very well see Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings be crowned the 2018 FIM Motocross World Champion and today put him one step closer to his dream. Herlings rocketed out of the gate to take today’s Qualifying race lead away from title rival and Red Bull KTM Teammate Antonio Cairoli who then followed in 2nd.

With the lead and clear track ahead Herlings pulled away and keep his distance from any potential threats. Cairoli was chased by Team HRC’s Tim Gajser and Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Clement Desalle. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Glenn Coldenhoff put on a strong ride for his home crowd as he passed Desalle who then lost another spot to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Anstie.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Jeremy Van Horebeek was in 7th but then fell on the second lap and fought his way to a 14th place result. Gajser was next to lose positions as Coldenhoff continued forward into third and Anstie took another spot from the Slovenian.

Honda RedMoto Assomotor’s Petar Petrov was battling with Wilvo Yamaha Official MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer before losing control and ejecting off his bike over the finish. Petrov got up and rode away while Seewer’s Wilvo Yamaha teammate Shaun Simpson battled with Desalle. After close racing between the pair Simpson clipped the back of Desalle and fell before finishing 9th, 2 spots ahead of Seewer.

At the finsh Herlings took the win nearly 18 seconds ahead of Cairoli with Coldenhoff making it a Red Bull KTM 1,2,3 finish as Max Anstie took 4th while Gajser took fifth. Gajser’s HRC teammate Brian Bogers returned to action after missing the entire season with injury to take 19th.

Jeffrey Herlings: “Today was good, fastest in free practice, fastest in time practice, and taking the qualifying win. The energy you feel when you pass the fans here is pretty amazing so it is a lot of fun to race and I'm looking forward to racing here tomorrow. I am actually pretty calm and relaxed... I hope to have the same thing tomorrow and everything is working well with the bike and the team. I can't wait to hopefully have the championship under my belt, it is my long term dream and we have been working so hard, it would really be a dream if we can pull it off."

Brian Bogers: “I wanted to ride here and I have been riding for 3 weeks now which isn't much but I'm feeling ok on the bike. The free practice and time practice were stressful but the qualifying was already much better, every time I'm on the track I'm feeling better."

In the MX2 Qualifying Race Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado had a near identical race to that of Herlings with the lead off the start through to the finish. In second was not the expected Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine of Pauls Jonass but Hitachi KTM UK’s Conrad Mewse.

A first turn crash claimed the 2 Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing riders of Thomas Covington and Thomas Kjer Olsen along with Kemea Yamaha Official MX2’s Anthony Rodriguez. In a sportsman like move Rodriguez assisted the Husqvarna riders as they were caught together. All 3 remounted and rejoined the race while a separate start crash took down Honda 114 Motorsports’ Hunter Lawrence.

While Lawrence got up his Honda 114 Motorsports teammate Bas Vaessen was up in third with Team HRC’s Calvin Vlaanderen giving chase in 4th. Yamaha SM Action MC Migliori’s Alvin Ostlund was also riding impressive in 5th.

Jonass was 6th but took Ostlund’s 5th away on the first laps while Kemea Yamaha Official MX2’s Ben Watson lost traction and spun out. Vlaanderen then muscled his way by Vaessen as Covington fell again and was unable to finish the race.

Jonass started to try to pass Vaessen several times but small mistakes hindered his progress. Taking advantage of the mistakes from Jonass and charging into the top 5 was STC Racing Husqvarna’s Henry Jacobi. Jacobi not only got by Jonass but flew past Vaessen as well.

Jonass then got by Vaessen and battled with Jacobi for a second time but the German prevailed. Vlaanderen then fed off the energy of the dutch crowd rooting him on as he passed Mewse for second.

At the finish it was the 9th qualifying race win of 2018 for Prado ahead of Vlaanderen and Mewse while Jacobi and Jonass round out the top 5. Olsen and Lawrence fought their way back from the back of the pack after their first turn crashes to finish 7th and 8th behind Ostlund.

Jorge Prado: “I feel really good on this track already for the last few years. Today went pretty good, I felt good all day long and once the gate dropped in Qualifying a got a good start which made it all a lot easier, it was a good race, I'm happy with the win, and looking forward to tomorrow."

MX2 Qualifying Race Top Ten: 1. Jorge Prado (ESP, KTM), 24:46.693; 2. Calvin Vlaanderen (NED, Honda), +0:07.813; 3. Conrad Mewse (GBR, KTM), +0:12.442; 4. Henry Jacobi (GER, Husqvarna), +0:32.068; 5. Honda presents new 2019 CRF line-up at the MXGP of the Netherlands

Today at the Assen TT circuit, Honda proudly presented to the gathered press, the new 2019 CRF line-up which includes two new models and three updated machines. Although details have been available online, this was a chance to see all the bikes in the flesh and witness first-hand how Honda is cementing their commitment to the dirt-riding enthusiast.

Taking place at the hospitality area of the team Honda Redmoto Assomotor, the press were walked through all the details of the new machinery by HRC World Motocross Adviser Roger Harvey and Honda Europe Off-Road Manager Gordon Crockard, with various Honda riders also on hand to give their opinions on the machinery they’ll be riding in the next year’s world championship.

There was also a special presentation to EMX250 Champion Mathys Boisrame, who wrapped up his title at the previous round in Bulgaria a few weeks ago. Mathys’ championship winning CRF250R was then revealed, showing off the traditional gold plate that is used by series champions.

After that the bikes were left on display so that everyone could take photos, ask questions and generally get a feel for this next generation of Honda off-road machinery.

Model Details:

CRF450L **NEW MODEL**
Using the CRF450R moto-crosser as a base, Honda’s new dual-purpose motorcycle has a tough, lightweight chassis built to find all the available grip, powered by an engine that delivers strong, usable power right from the bottom. While offering maximum enjoyment for the off-road hobby rider, the CRF450L is also fully street legal and street-ready, with sidestand, increased fuel tank volume and all-LED lighting. Durable, high quality parts and long service intervals – with a first major service at 32,000km – aim for a worry-free riding and ownership experience.

CRF450R
The CRF450R receives a major performance boost: 1.8kW more power and 2Nm more torque, plus stronger power delivery throughout the rev range thanks to a revised cylinder head, intake and exhaust. It also gets 3-level HRC Launch Control and durability upgrades. The chassis features revised suspension settings, redesigned front brake caliper, detailed weight-saving updates (shaving 0.9kg) and Renthal Fat Bar handlebar which sits on a new top yoke adjustable for four positions.

CRF450RX
Like the CRF450R moto-cross machine, the cross country CRF450RX receives a major boost of top-end power and torque for its engine, and 3-level HRC Launch Control. While still featuring 18-inch rear wheel and 8.5-litre fuel tank, the chassis now offers a revised rigidity balance, new suspension settings, plus Renthal Fat Bar handlebar with 4-way adjustability and new black rims.

CRF250R
One year after a full model change, the CRF250R gets a range of new performance, utility and aesthetic updates. Bottom and mid-range torque output gets a major boost thanks to 2mm smaller throttle body, and revised cam, intake and exhaust profiles. Like the 450s, the CRF250R also receives 3-level HRC Launch Control to add to the choice of 3 riding modes. A new twin-piston front brake caliper, adjustable Renthal Fatbars and black rims round out the updates.

CRF250RX **NEW MODEL**
The new CRF250RX arrives to add yet another dimension to Honda’s off-road range. Mirroring the CRF450RX, the new machine takes the CRF250R as a base, with revisions such as 18-inch wheel, 8.5-litre tank and softer suspension that adapt it for its role as the ideal closed course cross-country machine. It inherits the moto-crosser’s upgrade for 2019, with rock-solid bottom-end torque, 3-level HRC Launch Control, new front brake caliper, Renthal Fatbars and black rims.

With these five machines, Honda underlines its commitment to continuously evolve and reinforce its CRF line-up to offer an off-road-focussed machine for every type of dirt-riding enthusiast.

MXGP of the Netherlands hosts Mechanic's Training

The 2018 MXGP of the Netherlands at Assen and MXGP Academy have joined forces to help educating young aspiring mechanics from the Drents College. 2 young mechanics have been selected to work with the World Championship teams of Gebben Van Venrooy Kawasaki Racing and Kemea Yamaha Official MX2 Team. The weekend gives the students a chance to see what goes into working with the world’s best machines at the highest level of competition.

MXGP Academy trainer Jan Postema: "We see that motorsport and motocross in particular, get an increasingly professional approach. Mechanics are indispensable, but we still see that the mechanics who work at different teams, often through a "hobby" influx have entered into this sport. We believe that good preparation and training are musts for this profession.”

Mark Bouwman from Drents College: “To expose students to the circumstances, but also to be able to taste the atmosphere of the sport, this is a great way to get a first impression.”
