MXGP & MX2 riders have the ultimate Thai experience

SUPHAN BURI (Thailand), 05 March 2016 - Suphan Buri for the first time ever in the history of the FIM Motocross World Championship will host the MXGP of Thailand. As a token of appreciation of the event and to create some hype, the province of Suphan Buri put together an enormous and impressive welcoming ceremony for the riders and media.

Suphan Buri is a rural province widely recognized for its agriculture such as rice growing which is what inspired the province to host their welcoming at the Living and Soul of Thailand Farmers Learning Centre.

Many of the biggest MXGP and MX2 championship contenders, such as Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Romain Febvre, Team HRC’s Evgeny Bobryshev, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Clement Desalle and Petar Petrov, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Nagl, Thomas Covington and Max Anstie, RedBull KTM Factory racing's Pauls Jonass, Wilvo Standing Construct Yamaha Official MX2 Team Aleksandr Tonkov and Alvin Ostlund, Kemea Yamaha Official MX Team’s Benoit Paturel, Brent Van doninck and Valentin Guillod, Wilvo Virus Performance KTM’s Shaun Simpson, Honda Gariboldi’s Jorge Zaragoza, TM Factory Racing Team's Samuele Bernardini and Tip Top MP32 Racing Team’s Milko Potisek, turned up to the attraction interested in experiencing the special Thai culture.

Upon arrival the riders were gifted a traditional Thai farmers shirt which they all put on for the event. They then went on to sign a bunch of Thai MXGP memorabilia such as a helmet and apparel that was presented by a group of beautiful Thai hostesses. The riders then went on a tour through the learning center, which was a traditional group of wooden buildings set up as a market where they were able to indulge in all of the traditional Thai sweets and cuisine such as Coconut Rice Cakes, Egg floss and Pad Thai.

After the culinary experience, the boys gathered before a portrait of His Majesty the King Bhumiphol Adulyadej where they were welcomed by the Governor of Suphan Buri Province Mr. Supeepat Chongpanish and gifted with a Pha Kao Maa, which is a traditional Thai Farming accessory. They then donned on some thigh-high wellington boots and went out into the paddy fields and shown how to plant and cultivate their own rice.

Wrapping up the amazing event, a massive orchestra in traditional Thai attire put on a breath taking performance as the riders took a seat at a table to watch the final presentation. On an alluring stage, the presentation was opened with an elegant Thai dance before the people responsible for making the MXGP of Thailand possible took to the microphone to say a few words. The Provincial Administrative Organization representative Mr. Boonchu Jansuwan and the Governor of Suphan Buri Province Mr. Supeepat Chongpanish expressed their excitement and thanks to everyone for travelling to Suphan Buri for this great event while Youthstream’s CEO Mr. Daniele Rizzi shared his thanks and enthusiasm on behalf of MXGP.

The marvelous welcoming, which was an outstanding experience for all involved was closed with an amazing firework and confetti display and followed by a buffet dinner. Demonstrations of Sword Fighting, Muay Thai and Rum Tong wound out the evening where all media, both international and national were pumped with the exclusive opportunity to get some unique images of MXGP’s talented athletes embracing the Thai culture.

MXGP2 announces bike and rider customization & test track Game Mode

SUPHAN BURI (Thailand), 4 March 2016 – Youthstream and Milestone are glad to introduce the test track game mode and the bike and rider customization for MXGP2 – The Official Motocross Videogame which is scheduled for launch on March 31st 2016 on Xbox One®, the all-in-one games and entertainment system, PlayStation®4, and Windows PC®/STEAM™.

Feel like a real star of motocross, customize your rider, create an exclusive set up for your bike and take to the track! With the rider and bike customization racing is even more electrifying.
In MXGP2 you have the possibility to create your own rider, choosing from several options.

In particular, the editable elements include:

  • Helmet
  • Goggles
  • Neckbrace
  • Racewear
  • Boots

But that’s not all! Change your name, number and the font on your racewear and choose your nationality. Once you create your character, you go to the set up of the bike. The player goes into a real garage where they can change some parts like graphics, tires, suspension, accessories, exhausts and much more.

But how to understand you've got a high-performance vehicle for beating any rival? The two new circuits of the track test mode are designed for this very reason. You can train and understand that you have built a powerful bike and that it is able to compete in all the races giving the maximum.

With two new layouts, the track tests can be covered in two game modes:

  • Free riding: the rider enters in an open area and performs a number of laps as he wants for all the time useful to set up tests and he is free to switch from one circuit having freedom of movement;
  • Time Session: as soon as the player approaches in one of the layouts in the area open, the clock marks the time, indicating to the pilot if the changes were effective for his riding style.

Each of the two layouts is designed for a specific training: the layout 1, in fact, can be used by those who want to increase their skills in the Official Championship, while the layout 2 is for the Stadium Series.

The customization of the rider and the bike plus the introduction of the track test mode allow the players to get into the competition designing a customized motorcycle, and having fun creating his own rider by bringing into the game all of his rider and mechanical skills at the same time.

Monster Girl of the week: Dominique

Have you ever wondered “is there more to a Monster Girl than just a pretty face and a hot body?” If you have, problem solved! We, MXGP, have come up with an idea in collaboration with Monster Energy where we will select a Monster Girl from each round of MXGP and ask her a few random questions. The ‘interviewed’ Monster Girl and her answers will be featured on our website on every Wednesday following each MXGP round.

At MXGP of Qatar we caught up with Shelby and this is what we asked her:

  • Have you ever been to the Middle East or Asia?
    • No this is my first time and I already love it here. I was so excited when I was told I was going.
  • How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
    • I am not too bad, as long as I don’t have a late night! Around an hour? I don’t think that is too bad for someone with this much hair!
  • Tommy Searle or Clement Desalle?
    • I would say Tommy as he is from the UK and supporting our own. But I have seen Desalle and I love to watch him ride. So I say both!
  • What’s your favourite thing about being a Monster Girl?
    • The sport and the fans, you get so up close to the sports you attend. You would never be able to be on the startline! The fans are also awesome, and we get to see the same guys at different events.  I also love the girls, we are like a travelling family. We have so much fun.
  • Describe your perfect day…
    • Wake up, have an amazing breakfast, go to the gym. Go to a Monster event (Qatar MX will do!!!) and then a party or drinks with friends.

Roberts Justs to fill in for the injured Calvin Vlaanderen at the Thai Grand Prix

Roberts Justs of the HSF Logistics Motorsport team will fill in for the injured Calvin Vlaanderen in the second round of the world championship MX2 in Thailand this weekend. Vlaanderen injured his ankle in the free practice session in Qatar and wasn’t able to race in the rest of the weekend.

Calvin flew back to the Netherlands earlier this week to make X-rays of his injured ankle. Nothing is broken but the doctors and his physio-therapist advised him to sit out the race in Thailand.

‘’His ankle needs some time to heal properly. Luckily nothing is broken but because the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Axel and the Dutch Grand Prix in Valkenswaard are coming up it’s better to take some rest to be ready for these races’’: explains teammanager Martin van Genderen.

Roberts Justs is only doing the European MX2 Grand Prix this year but his happy about the chance he is getting to race the Thai Grand Prix. Roberts has had a good preparation in Spain. He has trained there with former two times world champion John van den Berk and has done three pre season races. Roberts managed to win two races and finished second in the other race.

‘’I am really happy about this opportunity to race the Thai Grand Prix. We have worked hard in the winter period and this is giving me a great feeling before the race in Thailand. It’s a shame that Calvin is injured and I would like to wish him a speedy recovery’’: tells an enthusiastic Roberts Justs.

Besides Roberts Justs also the Dutchman Brian Bogers will be behind the gate in Thailand. Bogers is currently in ninth position in the championship and will do everything he can to finish inside of the top ten in Thailand.

The travelling men

Travelling on the world scene is one that brings not only great racing for the riders, but also the enjoyment of different cultures. For Tommy Searle, Tim Gajser and Alexandr Tonkov it’s a different adventure.

Searle hasn’t been the luckiest guy in the MXGP class the last two years. Crashing out of both GP’s and picking up injuries. He goes into Thailand more careful, but also excited for the adventure.

“I enjoy the overseas races and I find it relaxing,” Searle said. “You have the hype, but everyone is with minimal people and I feel good at these races. Thailand I am going to an island with Tony and Jill and that will be nice. You could go home for those races, but I don’t see the need, you go home and ride for four days, but when you are sat on the start line and the heat is so bad it doesn’t matter if you rode four days or not if you are not a little used to the heat. You just need to get through the race in Thailand.”

Qatar GP winner Gajser didn’t have the best of luck in Thailand last year, and like Searle will hope for a better result in 2016.

“Now we have a few days of rest with just some swimming and relaxing in Thailand. I’m looking forward to this new track. I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s new for everyone. Last year I couldn’t race in the second race, even though I felt fine and wanted to, so this year I’ll make sure I drink even more water!”

For Russian rider Tonkov, going to Thailand means fighting the high temperatures. Coming from the cold of Siberia isn’t the best preparation, but Tonkov prefers to go home between the opening two GP races.

“Qatar it’s a nice race,” Tonkov said. “It isn’t a long flight, it’s a nice city, and you see how it grows. I also like the night race. I don’t like Thailand as much, it’s too hot and I am from Siberia, so the heat isn’t good for me. That is why I also prefer not to fly direct to Thailand and go home. I am sad we don’t go to Malaysia and I love going to the new places and travel, always nice to see the different cultures. When will I go to these places without racing motocross. Here we can say thanks to MXGP for organizing this.”

What this weekend will bring these three riders, we don’t know, but let’s hope all three come through injury free and with a bunch of GP points.
