Petrov to miss the next two GP's

After his top five result in the German round of the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship Petar Petrov has broken his collarbone while practising in the Netherlands and will miss the next two GPs.

The young Bulgarian, latest recruit of the Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team, has shown great potential since he joined the team earlier this season, finishing only once outside top eleven of the series. Working hard with the team to find the best settings for him, and expecting some podium results after the German round, Petar crashed during a testing session and unfortunately broke his collarbone. He immediately underwent surgery by Doctor Claes, and is now back home but will miss the next GPs to come back even stronger in Czech Republic.

Jean Jacques Luisetti, team owner: “Petar confirmed all our expectations with his results, and in Germany he was really strong in the opening race. He is training hard, and during a testing session he unfortunately crashed and got injured. He could have raced in Sweden in a few days, but we want him to recover totally and be strong for the end of the series, so we’ve decided that he will miss the next two GPs and can take time to come back again 100% fit. We would like to thanks all our partners and sponsors, who understand the situation and strongly support us and our decisions.”

MXGP of The Netherlands presentation leading up to the Dutch MotoGP

Youthstream’s CEO, Mr. Daniele Rizzi and President of the FIM Europe, Dr. Wolfgang Srb joined the organizer of MXGP of The Netherlands, Mr. Lee Van Dam, in a presentation of MXGP of The Netherlands, which will take place at the world-renowned circuit of Assen on the weekend of August 30th.

The presentation happened earlier today onsite in Assen where the Dutch round of MotoGP will take place this weekend. Mr. Van Dam and Mr. Rizzi took to the stage to introduce and inform the local and international media, which included some of the biggest names in Dutch television and print, RTV, Eurosport, RTL, Dutch Telegraaf, and Van Het Noorden, about the MXGP of The Netherlands.

Both MXGP and MX2 world champions Antonio Cairoli and Jordi Tixier were present and took the opportunity to express their excitement. Tony Cairoli said, “I really like the idea of having races at the circuits of MotoGP, we can all benefit from the permanent facilities and it will be good to see more races at venues like this in the future.” One of the most successful Dutch motocross teams Team HSF Logistics Motorsport KTM also made an appearance and said a few words, as did Holland’s latest young prodigy Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Davy Pootjes.

All the riders were clearly excited to witness some MotoGP action in Assen, whereas MotoGP rider Scott Redding was happy to be at the presentation of MXGP of The Netherlands where it became obvious he enjoys riding dirtbikes in his free-time.

The Aussies – Keep Dreaming

It’s been a good month for the two Australian riders in the MXGP class, Todd Waters and Dean Ferris. It’s no secret both these guys have potential, and that is pretty much why both have ridden for factory teams and continues to race for the Husqvarna factory efforts.

At the start of the season Todd Waters was still a rookie in the MXGP class, having missed 75% of the 2014 season due to a terrible injury while practicing. The Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna factory rider understandable started the season slow with just 14 points from the opening round in Qatar, but quickly found his groove with solid performances in the next three rounds.

It has been the last month though that he has finally found some rhythm and picked up his first ever podium finish in Italy a couple of weeks ago.

“It is a dream come true,” Waters said. “Everything I wanted is being reached and being able to race Grand Prix motocross is something I did dream about for many years. To be on the podium in Italy was difficult to understand, but it felt great.”

Placed ninth in the MXGP point’s standings and just two points back from Jeremy Van Horebeek in eighth place there is no doubt Waters is headed for good things in the future. Full support from Husqvarna brand it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see him back in 2016 under the blue and white tent.

While Waters picked up his first podium finish former GP winner Dean Ferris has struggled with fitness and sickness. His 15th place in the series points isn’t where he belongs, and finally finding his form it shouldn’t be too long before he too climbs closer to the top ten in the world. The road to his 4-4 results in France a month ago and his 7-5 in Germany last weekend hasn’t been an easy one.

“It has been tough, we have had a lot of health issues,” Ferris said. “I caught a gastro infection in Italy and I was throwing up on the Friday night, I was really sick, I couldn’t eat all day Saturday and also Saturday night I couldn’t eat. As you know I have had a few problems this year. The last few months I haven’t been able to practice because of a bad case of shin splints, fortunately that problem is now over and I am back to my normal training and practice.”

Ferris is keen to remain in Europe and chase his dreams, and he knows it’ is going to take good results to keep his place in the toughest series in the world.

“Everyone knows the MXGP class is the most difficult series in the world. Of course I want to stay here and continue the dream. I need to work hard and keep my head down. I like a lot of the circuits coming up, so if I can keep putting the results together then hopefully I will find something for 2016.”

Let us hope in the coming month that both Waters and Ferris can improve their results and continue to build on the long history Australian riders already have with the Grand Prix series.

Young winners

The youngsters continues to take over the scene in the MXGP and MX2 championships. 23 year old Romain Febvre and 18 year old Tim Gajser make sure the older lions like Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings keep looking over their shoulders and in fact for Cairoli he has to look ahead, because that is just where Febvre is in the championship points.

It has been a long time since the Grand Prix series has seen so much young talent arrive on the scene and there is no doubt that more is to come with the MX2 class loaded with teenagers looking at moving up to the MXGP class.

Gajser who scored his third GP victory of the 2015 season last weekend in Germany is starting to get used to the feeling of standing on top of the GP podium. Instead of putting pressure on himself he is just enjoying his racing and working hard.

“I put too much pressure on myself at the start of the season,” Gajser said. “I think I had expected too much. After the first three rounds I said to myself to not put too pressure on myself. I needed to go to the races have fun and enjoy riding, and that was it, and for sure that was a big positive for me. I have made many mistakes this year, but the last three rounds, France, Italy and Germany it was really good. I am getting back in my shape and riding like I can. It is clear we have many good riders in the MX2 class, not just Jeffrey. Look how many GP winners we have and guy who can make the podium.”

And while the young Honda rider is improving with every round of the MX2 championship the MXGP rookie Romain Febvre does the same. His 1-1-1 from Italy, France and Germany has seen him move to the very top of the MXGP point’s standings, and people are actually talking about him being the 2015 World MXGP champion!

Febvre knows the season isn’t nearly over and it’s going to take a mammoth effort to beat the likes of Antonio Cairoli and Max Nagl, but on current form he has nothing to worry about.

“Having the red plate is really nice but this is the tenth GP,” Febvre said. “There are still sixteen moto’s to go and there is something like four hundred points still available, so we need to keep consistent.”

While he won in Germany last weekend, it wasn’t easy work as he fought hard with a handful of solid MXGP competitors.

“In Germany Dean (Ferris) was difficult to pass, and in the second moto we had a nice battle with Gautier (Paulin) but I knew I needed second to win the GP so I made sure of that until the end.”

There can be no doubt that when the riders head to Sweden in two week’s time that both Gasjer and Febvre will have targets on their back. In the MX2 class Jeffrey Herlings will be desperate to get the momentum back, and in MXGP both Antonio Cairoli and Max Nagl will be a little fitter than they were in Germany. Both suffering injuries, but determined to fight until the very end.

Whatever happens in the coming few months, you have to respect these two young men for the performances in the first half of the season.

Youthstream welcomes Yamaha Motor Europe to the team

FUNCHAL (Portugal), 24 June 2015 – Youthstream is ecstatic to announce the newly formed relationship with Yamaha Motor Europe where Yamaha will be an official sponsor of MXGP rounds in France, Italy, Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands.

With the signing of the agreement Yamaha, at the events mentioned above, will be able to park all of their factory trucks together in the paddock. They will also have an event truck where a variety of Yamaha dirtbikes will be on display for the public to view up close, or where events such as their 60th anniversary, which took place in Maggiora at MXGP of Italy, will be organized. They will also host signing sessions with their Yamaha supported riders at this location.

At MXGP of The Netherlands, which will take place at the all new track and location in Assen on the weekend of August 30th, Yamaha will have a junior riding experience where all the young kids can ride PW50’s on a small circuit.

In addition to all these great things, Yamaha will have a Yamaha branded Skybox in a prime viewing location where Yamaha’s own VIP’s and customers can enjoy the racing.

Monster Girl of the week; Dominique

Have you ever wondered “is there more to a Monster Girl than just a pretty face and a hot body?” If you have, problem solved! We, MXGP, have come up with an idea in collaboration with Monster Energy where we will select a Monster Girl from each round of MXGP and ask her a few random questions. The ‘interviewed’ Monster Girl and her answers will be featured on our website on every Wednesday following each MXGP round.

At MXGP of Germany we caught up with Dominique and this is what we asked her:

Do you eat breakfast?

If so, what? Always! Toast, eggs, cereal, tea, everything!

Do you have any musical talent, like can you play an instrument or sing?

I can rap, or like to think I can. The only singing I do is in the car on the way to the airport!

What was your favorite subject in school?

Geography, as you can see all the amazing places in the world to visit. I also love sport, tennis, football etc

Other than being a Monster Girl, if you could be successful on another career path, what would it be?

At the moment I love being a Monster Girl, so can’t think of anything better! I love to travel so something that involves that would be great.

To get to know more about your favorite Monster Girl, check out our Monster Girl feature on www.MXGP.com or click HERE, and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube, your go-to places for instant and up to the minute news and gossip.
