MXGP has all eyes on intu-Xanadú Arroyomolinos for the MXGP of Spain

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 3 May 2023 - The FIM Motocross World Championship is coming to Spain for the sixth Grand Prix of the 2023 season. The circuit of intu-Xanadú Arroyomolinos will be hosting the MXGP of Spain on the 6th and 7th May.

Near the capital Madrid, the circuit have seen many exciting races over the past four years. Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux, won consecutively in MX2 in 2021 and MXGP in 2022. The other riders who managed to win in MXGP on this circuit were home hero Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado in 2020 and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings in 2021 which might give them an edge over their rivals for what could be a very important Grand Prix for the Championship. There will be few changes made to the central sectors of the circuit of intu-Xanadù Arroyomolinos which will make it even more competitive.

The MXGP of Spain will also host the 4th round of the EMX250 and 3rd round of WMX with Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Andrea Bonacorsi still solid leader in EMX250 and young talent Lotte Van Drunen leading the Women’s Motocross Championship. Winner of the first WMX round in Sardinia, the Spanish rider RFME GasGas WMX Team’s Daniela Guillen is tied for second in the Championship and will be riding at home in front of her fans. It will also be the first round of the European Junior e-Motocross Series which will see young riders competing on the same circuit of the MXGP Champions.

The MXGP of Spain marked the 9th stop of the season in 2022 and it was Maxime Renaux who won his first Grand Prix in the MXGP class and showed his speed and control in Spain as he won the GP with a perfect 1-1.

In 2023, Jorge Prado arrives at his home Grand Prix as leader of the Championship and having made the podium in every GPs so far in the season. The consistency shown by Prado has been incredible given the number of challengers who have the potential to get podiums on every outing. Having won in Spain in 2020, Prado looks determined to win on home soil once again, and this time to consolidate his Red Plate. As a race winner in Portugal, the Spanish rider keeps his 50% race win for the 2023 campaign.

Just behind in the Championship standings is Jeffrey Herlings who comes in Spain on the back of his 101th GP win in Portugal. The ‘bullet’ is getting faster round after round. He set the fastest time in the last two Grand Prix which shows his positive dynamic at the moment. He is also the only rider of the pack with 2 GP wins. With his starts improving, he is becoming even more of a threat and is 17 points adrift off Prado. On top of all that, Herlings could break Stefan Everts’ ultimate record if he wins and get him to 102 GP wins.

Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre who moved up to third in the Championship is showing that we can count on him this season and he has been battling at the top over nearly all races. The Kawasaki rider got a second podium of the season in Portugal making it two in the last three GPs which shows the dynamic he is on. Febvre looks comfortable with riding and showed the competitor in him as he frequently battles with Prado and Herlings. He still misses that GP win this season but he is making sure to do everything to get there.

The 2-time Grand Prix winner in Spain, Maxime Renaux is fourth in the standing and lost his second place to Herlings and Febvre after Portugal. Renaux did not have the results expected as he went 13-11 for 11th overall in Portugal and had to retire in the RAM Qualifying Race on the Saturday. This was a round to forget but the Frenchman could use one of his favourite circuits this weekend to bounce back and put pressure on Prado and Herlings.

Another rider who will be riding on home soil is Team HRC’s Ruben Fernandez who got a very good 4th overall in Portugal and stays consistent this season. He also won the RAM Qualifying Race in Agueda last week in incredible fashion as he passed Herlings along the way. He collected 10 important points for the Championship and demonstrated that he can keep winning race after his win in Argentina. Being at home this weekend and getting the support from the amazing public in Spain will definitely help him.

Team Gebben Van Venroy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen, 6th in the Championship is impressing since the beginning of the season as he rides consistently within the top 10 and competing with the top riders week in week out and confirming his potential. Behind him in the standings is Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Glenn Coldenhoff who got a good result last weekend with a 4-7 for 6th overall is one rider that has improved over the last couple of GPs to stay more constant.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Jeremy Seewer got used to show incredible speed but he also alternated with few lows because of crashes. He showed more positive racing in Portugal with an encouraging 5-4 and 5th overall for a performance more in-line with his talent. Now 8th in the Championship the MXGP of Spain could be a great opportunity for the Swiss to collect precious points.

The two Italian riders Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Mattia Guadagnini and SM Action Racing Team Yuasa Battery MXGP’s Alberto Forato are 9th and 10th in the Championship. Guadagnini looked like he picked up his rhythm as he has been more regular and quicker recently. With a 6-8 and 8th overall, the GASGAS rider is on his way up and it will be interesting to see if he can go even higher in Spain. Forato has kept his level as he oscillates around the 10th place in pretty much all GPs so far and is really reliable. He is gaining a lot of experience that can help him to reach new levels

Ship to Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz’s Valentin Guillod and JM Honda Racing’s Brent Van doninck who are 11th and 13th are two riders to watch as they have made amazing moves in Portugal and over the last GPs in general while riding many times within the top 10. They have been consistent and this is key to build on that to catch good points along the way.

In MX2 last year, Tom Vialle came out victorious in Spain in front of Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Simon Laengenfelder second and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Jago Geerts third.

Jago Geerts is a man full of confidence as he completed a dominant hat-trick last weekend with a perfect 1-1-1, counting his RAM Qualifying Race win and win his 3rd GP of the season. He increased his lead in the Championship and is now 36 points ahead. He has been a solid Red Plate holder since the first GP in Argentina and responded very well in front of adversity so far. The MXGP of Spain could be a good opportunity to assert even more his domination in MX2, on a track he has not won yet.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Andrea Adamo is 2nd in the Championship and missed the podium for few points in Portugal, 4th overall, with again a strong performance. Adamo is really consistent and quick this season. He was the only rider other than Geerts to lead some laps last weekend showing that he has everything to compete for the Championship win. The MXGP of Spain will be another change for him to get closer to the leader.

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay de Wolf and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Thibault Benistant who are 3rd and 4th in the Championship have experienced very different races in Portugal. While de Wolf clinched his third podium of the season and kept on his impressive form with a solid 2-2 for 2nd overall, Benistant was far from his standards in Portugal as he settled for 12-8 for a 10th overall. He lost precious points for the Championship and is now 59 points behind Geerts.

Simon Laengenfelder is right behind Benistant in the Series and comes in Spain on the back of a good performance and a 5th overall. However, the German rider is yet to go up on a podium this season even if he was close few times. This is a done thing for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Roan Van de Moosdijk who got his first podium in Portugal, behind his teammates de Wolf for 3rd. The 6th in the championship is on the ascent with strong performances recently. A race win in Switzerland and the podium in Portugal were the rewards he was waiting for. It will be interesting to see if he can now keep his dynamic going.

Other riders like Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Liam Everts and Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen, 7th and 9th respectively are two riders who had not an easy GP in Portugal with some crash but recovered very well and showed they never give up. L.Coenen got 6th overall as he displayed a good determination and speed to get good points. Everts will want to bounce back after his 11th place.

F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s Kevin Horgmo is still solid as he got a 9th overall to get to 9th in the Championship while Jan Pancar 10th in the Championship keeps his top 10s record with another 8th overall after a good 6-10 in Portugal. It will be a special GP for his Spanish teammate, F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s David Braceras who made his debut MX2 racing last year in Spain while he was competing for the EMX250 Championship. This time he comes to home GP, being a full MX2 rider and will want to take that occasion to score good points with the support of the Spanish crowd. He is 14th in the Championship and the MXGP of Spain could be a good way to go up in the standings.

This weekend will be another chance for TEM JP253 KTM Racing Team’s Jan Pancar to continue to impress on his good form as he was 8th overall in Portugal and keeps on getting top 10s. He is 10th in the Standings. For Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen, the MXGP of Portugal was another racing weekend to get back on form as he went 16-15 for 14th overall. This weekend in Spain gives him a good back to back GP to improve even more.

The other riders who will compete at home this weekend will be Racestore KTM Racing Team’s Yago Martinez as well as WZ Racing Team’s Oliver Oriol who are 16th and 15th respectively in the Championship and will be supported by the home fans. Both will use that added support to try to ride at the top over the weekend.

Herlings Goes 101 in GP Victories while Geerts gets another Hat-Trick!

AGUEDA (Portugal) 30 April 2023 – What a fantastic MXGP of Portugal as we witnessed greatness on the track of Agueda.  The fifth round of the FIM Motocross World Championship delivered what a fantastic show in both MXGP and MX2 classes with the new inverted circuit that allowed riders to go full gear and enjoy the new layout.

At the end of the day it was Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings who won the GP with his second overall win of the season and his 101 GP victories to join Stefan Everts’ record. Behind him in second was Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre who got his second podium of the season and on the third step of the podium, Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado who keep his 100% podium record this season.

In MX2, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Jago Geerts signed a hat-trick with a perfect 1-1-1 as he won the MX2 Ram Qualifying Race on Saturday and the two races on Sunday. This was in front of Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay de Wolf who kept his consistency and de Wolf’s teammate Roan Van de Moosdijk in third for his first podium of the season.

The day was marked by a large and noisy crowd who came in number in a beautiful and hot day to cheer on riders and especially on Ruben Fernandez and Jorge Prado who gave them a lot to be happy and loud throughout the whole weekend. This enthusiastic public made this Grand Prix of Portugal a very special one for the 2023 season.

In Race 1, it was Jorge Prado who clinched yet another FOX Holeshot and led the race from start to finish as he keeps his way to take off on first races to win them. Romain Febvre came out after the first turns in 2ndposition and even tried to push to get close to Prado but in the end Febvre settled for a good 2nd place while Prado won the race.

Jeffrey Herlings got a good start too as he found himself in 3rd early in lap 1 to then control his race and comfortably finished 3rd in the end even if he pushed Febvre in the last laps, but couldn’t make a pass. The two teammates at Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team, Jeremy Seewer and Glenn Coldenhoff had somewhat of a similar race as they both push to gain positions. Coldenhoff was 7th on lap 1 but gradually moved up to 5th right behind Seewer, then pushed behind to finally pass the Swiss for 4th on lap 9.

It was another solid performance for Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Mattia Guadagnini as the Italian got to 7th on lap 2 after getting passed by Coldenhoff. Guadagnini then capitalised on Team HRC’s Ruben Fernandez mistake on lap 8 to get back up to 6th. While he pushed to overtake Seewer later in the race, he had to settle for 6th in the end. Fernandez who looked quick and confident this weekend and was pushing for 3rd behind Herlings made a mistake and fell down to pick himself up on 7th position where he stayed until the checkered flag.

Team Gebben Van Venroy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen kept impressing on during his outings as he rode within the top 10 the whole race and overtook SM Action Racing Team Yuasa Battery MXGP’s Alberto Forato on lap 14 for 8th and kept this position while Forato settled for 9th. The other consistent rider was Ship to Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz’s Valentin Guillod who once again got a top 10 finish with 10th.

Second in the Championship standings before the MXGP of Portugal, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux continued his bad luck for this weekend as he went down early to manage a 13th place.

In Race 2, it was Seewer who clinched the FOX Holeshot while Fernandez took on the lead quickly after that in front of Herlings. Fernandez looked to really suit and like this track as he found good lines throughout the whole weekend but Herlings was ready to go on the chase and finally let his famous speed do the talking as he moved past Fernandez for the lead in lap 5.

Herlings was not going to give up his 101th win and formidably won without looking over his shoulder. Fernandez, after winning the RAM Qualifying Race also showed his growing strength to finish 2nd.

Febvre was also on a mission to get a podium today as he chased after Seewer for 3rd over many laps. Febvre then found the right time to make an excellent move with a jump on the inside of Seewer to get to 3rd and never give it up until the end. Seewer showed his fighting spirit as he bounced back from his 11th place in Trentino to go 5-4 for a good 5th overall place.

Vlaanderen kept his strong performances again in race 2 to finish 5th and overtaking the Championship leader on lap 5 for 5th when Prado nearly fell completely off his bike in front of the pitlane and miraculously stayed on two wheels. Prado showed his qualities in salvaging this mistake. Vlaanderen finished the race in 5thdefending until the end in front of Prado who finished 6th.

This was another good and needed quality race for Coldenhoff who didn’t get overtaken once and managed to overtake Guadagnini for 7th on lap 16. Guadagnini settled for 8th but showed another decent riding with a good 6-8 and 8th overall after his 5th place in Trentino. Similarly, Coldenhoff showed his qualities as he got the 7th overall.

Guillod again with a top 10 delivered some good moves to get from 11th on lap 1 to 9th in the end as the Swiss looked on a great form recently. Finishing in 10th was JM Honda Racing’s Brent van doninck who after having to retire in race 1 while he was 10th due to mechanical issues went on to show that when he has no problems, the Belgian is a rider that can ride easily in the top 10.

For Renaux, it was a Grand Prix to forget as he never found his rhythm during the weekend and settled for 11thfor a 11th overall which was a bad operation as he dropped to 3rd in the Championship Standings

In the end, Jeffrey Herlings showed again the qualities that made him famous and delivered a big message to the competition as he is the first rider this season to get to 2 GP wins. Second was an excellent Romain Febvre who is getting back to his best while Jorge Prado continues the season with the Red Plate and the fifth podium in a row.

Jeffrey Herlings:”It was so great to come here and have another win after the long road came from. I feel it’s coming step by step. I am so pleased with the performance today, riding felt great and if I didn’t feel at my best on the first race, the second was really good. I am looking forward for next week in Spain and see what we’ll get there.”

Romain Febvre: “It was really close racing the whole weekend. I felt very good and took some good starts too. In the first race being second during the whole race behind Prado was good and in the second race I managed to pass few riders to get the second place overall. I’m very happy taking some points for the Championship and now let’s see in Spain what I can do”

Jorge Prado: “I feel like I rode pretty well the whole weekend. My second start was really good but then I nearly fell and had to regroup. I couldn’t pass Vlaanderen even though I tried hard. In the end I am happy with my riding and my fitness and I want to thank a lot my team and next week in Spain we’re going for the win.”

In MX2 race 1, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Andrea Adamo started well as he got the FOX Holeshot and led Jago Geerts. Adamo kept the lead with a safe distance although Geerts came close after few laps but could not get close enough to make a move on Adamo. Adamo restored a 2 seconds cushion until lap 15 when Geerts decided to pounce for the lead. Geerts got on the inside and powered through to stay in front Adamo. Geerts with 3 laps until the end comfortably kept his distance with Adamo for the win. Adamo settled for the 2nd place.

Behind them was Kay de Wolf who managed to start well and got to 4th on lap 1. Then his teammate, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen who was in front of him fell down on lap 3. This helped de Wolf to moved up to 3rd until the end. L.Coenen managed to get back up to 9th after picking his bike up in 12th showing his quick pace. Their teammate, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Roan Van de Moosdijk had a solid run as he managed to get a good start and finding himself 6th on lap 1 to 4th in the end.

After an uncharacteristic average start Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Simon Laengenfelder made a good comeback as he was 8th on lap 1 but overtook F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s David Braceras early on the race for 7th. Laengenfelder then capitalised on the crash from L.Coenen as well as Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Thibault Benistant on lap 3 to move up to 5th where he stayed until the end.

Benistant did not have a good race as he lingered around the 12th place throughout the race and finished 13thin the end. However, TEM JP253 KTM Racing Team’s Jan Pancar continues to be in the top 10 as he clinched the 6th place in the end.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Rick Elzinga showed his speed and that he can fight positions after getting 11th on lap 1. Elzinga went on to move up to 7th in the end as he overtook Team Ship To Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz’s Emil Weckman on lap 4 for 8th to then get to 7th after pressuring F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s David Braceras and move past him on lap 8. Elzinga finished 7th while Weckman settled for 10th and Braceras for 11th.

Mikkel Haarup also run a solid race as the Danish went from 13th on lap 1 to 8th in the end and never got overtaken throughout the race.

In race 2, Laengenfelder was the quickest off the starting gates as he clinched the FOX Holeshot but it was Geerts who took the lead after few turns. Geerts went on to win race 2 in great fashion finishing a perfect day.

Laengenfelder was 2nd until lap 14 when de Wolf and Van De Moosdijk overtook him one after the other. With a 4th place in the end Laengenfelder missed the podium by 4 points and got 5th overall. De Wolf made a great comeback going from 7th on lap 1 to finish 2nd in the end and get to the second step of the podium while Van De Moosdijk finished 3rd to get his first podium of the season in 3rd position.

Adamo continues to show his qualities as he finished 5th with a solid 2-5 to end up 4th overall. Behind him was F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s Kevin Horgmo who following his 12th place on race 1, went on to make a run in race 2 after a good start finding himself 8th on lap 1 and making some great move to go up to 6th in the end. L.Coenen had another scare when spun out after few turns and found himself 17th after lap 1.

But as he showed it before, his great speed helped him to get to an incredible 7th place in the end.

Benistant got a better rhythm in race 2 but far from his standard as he could not do better than 8th in the end while his teammate Elzinga managed to get to 9th and reach two top 10s for the day. Jan Pancar is now getting used to be in the top 10 since the beginning of the season as he managed to get to 10th after finding himself 15th on lap 1. He showed a very good determination to move up the leaderboard.

After his recent podium, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Liam Everts had some bad luck today as he completely got out of the track following a collision and had to retire in race 1. Although Everts managed to get a 11th place in race 2 after another early crash. His teammate Sacha Coenen is still getting his fitness and rhythm back after his injury and managed to get a 16-15.

Jago Geerts: “Yesterday I felt already very good on my first laps. I knew it was going to be a good day and today I felt even better. I am so happy with results with another 3 wins. It was simply the perfect weekend for me and now I’m going to focus on the next races and trying to keep going like this”

Kay de Wolf: “It was a tough weekend from the beginning but It was a really good second race although I didn’t have the best start but I kept working. In the end I overtook Simon (Laengenfelder) and my teammate Roan to put me second overall. I gave all my heart to get to the podium again”

Roan Van de Moosdijk: “After a really tough pre-season I am so happy with that performance and podium. In the second race I knew I had to pass Laengenfelder for the podium. It’s been a long road and I’m so happy to be here on the podium with my teammate. Thanks to my team and we got the ball rolling now for the next races.”

Bonacorsi heroic winner while Reisulis continues his domination

AGUEDA (Portugal) 30 April 2023 – What a third round for the EMX250 and EMX125 presented by FMF Racing Championships in Agueda, Portugal were both classes put on the show. We are now starting to see clear favourites performing rounds after rounds.

In EMX250, the Red Plate and favourite Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Andrea Bonacorsi won in a formidable manner after dealing with problems on his bike in race 2. It was in front of BT Racing Team’s Kay Karssemakers and VRT KTM Factory Juniors’ Ferruccio Zanchi

In EMX125 presented by FMF Racing, MJC Yamaha Official EMX125’s Janis Martin Reisulis got his second win of the season in front of 737 Performers GASGAS’s Mathis Valin and Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Maximilian Werner.

Race 1 in EMX250 saw an eventful first lap where it was Ferruccio Zanchi who came out of the first turn leading the pack right in front of Championship leader Andrea Bonacorsi. A tight battle ensued as Bonacorsi took the lead early to see Zanchi taking it back few turns later.  Eventually, Bonacorsi’s power was too much for Zanchi on lap 2 as Bonacorsi made his pass stick to keep the lead until the end of the race comfortably. Zanchi finished solidly 2nd.

Behind them Kay Karssemakers also showed his speed as he was in contact with the front two early on in the race along with Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Alexis Fueri. In the end Karssemakers had to settle for a good 3rd place while Fueri did not maintain the speed until the end as he went from 4th place on lap 11 to 6th in the end.

It was the opposite for Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Quentin Prugnieres and RFME GASGAS MXJUNIOR TEAM’s Samuel Nilsson who both gain positions. Prugnieres went from 7th in lap 1 to get several overtakes to find himself on lap 8 behind RFME GASGAS MXJUNIOR TEAM’s Gerard Congost who was 5th at the time. Congost then had a big crash as he tried to overtake Fueri for 4th and had to retire form the race. Prugnieres found himself 5th after that incident and kept going to overtake Fueri for 4th on lap 11. Nilsson was 10th on lap 1 and also kept charging up to get to 5th in the end.

Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Cas Valk had a strong race too and stayed within the top 10 throughout the race to get finally finish 7th. It went similarly for WZ RACING TEAM’s Cato Nickel who went from 6th on lap 1 to end up at a good 8th place.

The good operation was for KTM SB Racing’s Nico Greutmann who showed determination to move up the leader board after getting an average start and get to 14th on lap 1. The young Swiss methodically kept overtaking riders in front of him to finish 9th at the checkered flag.

The winner of the Trentino Round, KTM Beddini Racing Team’s Valerio Lata could not show the same spark nor find the same rhythm as two weeks ago and had to settle for 10th in the end.

In race 2, It was Team VRT KTM Factory Juniors’ Marc-Antoine Rossi who showed all his talent to win the race and make clever passes as he went from 4th on lap 1 1st on lap 11. He overtook Karssemakers, solid leader up to that point and kept the lead until the end. Karssemakers settled for 2nd.

Bonacorsi who ended on the 3rd position had an eventful second race as he got some clutch problems due to being overtaken by M-A Rossi and having the bikes touched. However, Bonacorsi showed all his mental throughout the whole race and amazing talent. Bonacorsi had to race a major part of the race with a clutch problem as mentioned earlier and while he was 3rd on lap 11, the Red Plate stalled in a turn and moved down to 5th with 4 laps to go.
However, heroically made few passes to get back up to 3rd overtaking his teammate Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Karlis Reisulis. It was synonymous of overall win for Bonacorsi.

Reisulis who led over the first three laps finished in an encouraging 4th place. Prugnieres continued his good weekend as he made a good start in 5th to keep the same position until the end. Zanchi had to battle to get up the rank as he found himself 8th on lap 1 to then show good speed and ending up at an important 6th place to get on the podium.

It was also a solid performance for Meico Vettik who manged to get into the top 10 on lap 8 and even managed to get to 7th in the last couple of laps as he overtook Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing Team’s Ivano Van Erp and Valk successively. Van Erp who was not on his best form finished the weekend with a 21-9 while Valk stayed solidly in the top 10 with a 7-8.

It was damage control for Lata as he managed to get to 10th in this race to score some important points in the Championship Standing but still lost his 2nd spot to Karssemakers.

In the end, Andrea Bonacorsi managed with a strong will and talent to get his second overall win of the season while Kay Karssemakers made a good operation with his solid racing getting second on the podium and second in the Championship Standings. Ferruccio Zanchi also rode very well in Portugal getting a well deserve back-to-back podium.

Andrea Bonacorsi: “In the second race I lost my clutch leveller in a collision with Rossi which happens in motocross. With that leveller broken I couldn’t use it but I kept going, I forgot about my bike problem which made me stall. But in the end I am very happy with the result and happy with the races. I showed again who is the fastest and for that I want to thank all my team, Yamaha and Monster. See you in Spain!”

In EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing Race 1, it was all about Janis Martin Reisulis once again as the young Latvian took the lead from Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Elias Escandell during the first lap and kept the lead until the finish line to win his 3rd race of the season. Escandell managed a solid race too as the Spanish riders kept his 2nd spot until the end.

Mathis Valin had a really steady and uneventful race as he stayed behind the front two in 3rd throughout the whole race. The performance of the race was for Alban Alm who following an average start being 12th on lap 1, the Swede managed overtake many times to finally got to 4th in the end.

Salvador Perez displayed some good speed and managed to kept it up until the end. He went from 7th on lap 1 to a very solid 5th place in the end. He also overtook Maximilian Werner along the way on lap 5 for 4th but conceded one place at the end to finish 5th. Werner had a great start but got overtaken few times to finish at the 8th place.

Francisco Garcia managed a good come back from 12th on lap 1 to a 6th place in the end, more in line with his past performance this season. Behind him Noel Zanocz, who went up and down as he overtook few riders early on to get from 8th to 6th but then settled for 7th in the end.

While JK Racing Yamaha’s Nicola Salvini rode a steady and consistent race finishing 10th, Richard Paatmade is entry into the top 10 for the first time this season. Paat kept his speed all throughout the race and showed good technique along the way to get from 13th to 9th in the end.

In race 2, it was the time for Valin to get back to the top as he did in on the first round in Switzerland. After a rapid start, Valin led the race from start to finish as he never looked back and even increased his advantage for an easy win. Behind Valin, Reisulis was quick to get to 2nd after lap 1 but crashed down on lap 3 to move down to 4th. However his speed and talent spoke for themselves as he managed to get back up to 2nd and overtaking Fredsoe on lap 7 and his Werner on lap 12 for 2nd.  Fredsoe ended up at the 5th place.

Werner settled for 3rd in the end to get on the podium while Garcia made another comeback from 9th to 4th in the end. Alm kept the consistent riding he showed throughout the weekend to get to 6th for a 6th overall.

After getting 12th in race 1, Vitezslav Marek got back to his usual riding performance as he finished 7th staying within the top 10 during the whole race. Behind him were Nicola Salvini and Alfio Samuele Pulvirenti who finished in 8th and 9th respectively. Closing the top 10 was Zanocz who managed to overtake Fantic Factory Team Maddii’s Niccolo Mannini on lap 7 for 10th and never giave hi position. Mannini finished 11th.

In the end Janis Martin Reisulis dominated once again in front of Mathis Valin second, back to his best with a race win and Maximilian Werner making a back-to back podium with the third spot on the podium.

Janis Martin Reisulis: “This week was really tough for me, the mistake in race 2 made it even harder but we’re here picking up points consistently. I’m very happy to get the win and keep the Red Plate. I want to thank all my team for the help, my family and of course the fans”
