Kawasaki president visits MXGP in Holland

Shigehiko Kiyama San, Managing Executive Officer and President of Kawasaki Motorcycle Division, honoured the FIM World Motocross GP Championship series with his personal attendance at the Dutch MXGP.

Mister Kiyama, involved in the sport for several years in the USA, attended the Dutch MXGP at Valkenswaard during a visit to a number of leading European Kawasaki dealers and branch offices.

Together with Mr Ondo (Motorsport Manager, Kawasaki Heavy Insdustries), Mr Tanaka (Director, Kawasaki Motors Europe), Mr Kawakami (Managing Director Kawasaki Motors Europe) and Steve Guttridge (Racing Manager, Kawasaki Motors Europe), Mister Kiyama met the team staff of the Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team and Team CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy as well as their riders. The group enjoyed Gautier Paulin's MXGP moto win, Arnaud Tonus' performance in the MX2 class as well as the overall victory of Meghan Rutledge and the moto victory of Livia Lancelot in the Women's World Championship.

“This was a very good opportunity for me to visit the MX GP, as it’s actually a kind of holiday in Japan at the moment so I could plan the trip trip to coincide with a visit to some of our European dealers and some of our European staff“, said Mr Kiyama.

“I’m happy to have met our Motocross GP riders as well as the team staff; they have done a great job so far this season in all classes with several GP wins. Kawasaki is a performance company, and of course we try to be a safe and very good energy saving unit too, but we show the power in performance, so Motocross and Supercross bikes are our typical models to show the Kawasaki performance advantage.

"It was nice to meet the riders as I didn’t previously know so well the Kawasaki riders in Europe; when I was working in the US I knew our factory riders in Motocross, Supercross, Jet Ski, Supersport and Superbike.

"We worked together with Ryan Villopoto, James Stewart and other riders; this was my first opportunity to meet our GP riders, and it’s a very nice starting point for me.

"Every week we are watching the results of our riders in Supersport, Superbike and Motocross, and of course as a company we would like to have one round of the Motocross World Championship back in Japan; everyone knows that our country has had some challenges, but right now the market is going better again so let’s hope that MXGP will come back soon to Japan.”

Beach or Motocross, Rutledge digs the sand

VALKENSWAARD (The Netherlands), 04 May 2014 – Stunning blue skies were in contrast of the gnarly black sand here in Valkenswaard for round three of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship where Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge put in two solid and consistent performances to take home her second WMX round victory this year.

When the gates dropped for WMX’s second race this morning, Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge nailed the holeshot but was quickly passed by both Team One One Four’s Livia Lancelot and HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane. While Lancelot went on to pull a small gap and lead eleven solid laps for her first WMX race win of the season, a vast game of cat and mouse was in play between Rutledge and Kane.

Meanwhile back in fourth, local Dutch heroine Nancy Van De Ven was holding off Team Dragon Moto’s Stephanie Laier, while yesterday’s race one winner Chiara Fontanesi was on damage control after a mistake early on in lap one left her buried at the back of the pack.

As Fontanesi continued to pick the riders off one-by-one, which was made a little easier when Van De Ven crashed out of fourth, the battle between Kane and Rutledge started to get serious. With lap traffic coming into play and four laps to go, a determined Rutledge took the advantage and second place.

Heading into the last lap of the race it appeared a battle for the win could have unfurled between Team One One Four’s Livia Lancelot and Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge, but after passing pit-lane and realizing she had the overall win in the bag, Rutledge chose to back off and settle for a safe second only one second clear of HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane in third. Race one winner Chiara Fontanesi put in a remarkable ride to redeem fourth with Team Dragon Moto’s Stephanie Laier rounding out the top five.

Although Chiara Fontanesi had a tough second race, her win in race one in combination with her fourth in race two was enough for second overall and to claim the WMX red plate for the first time this season. Meanwhile Natalie Kane added up two third place finishes for third overall and now sits second in the overall standings one point behind Fontanesi. The Australian Meghan Rutledge was consistently second this weekend and now jumps from fifth to third in the championship standings, only two points short of the red plate.

Due to a mechanical failure in race one, race two’s winner Team One One Four’s Livia Lancelot only finished ninth overall for WMX’s round of The Netherlands and has now dropped back to fifth in the overall standings trailing the lead by twenty-two points.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s sand masters succeed

VALKENSWAARD (The Netherlands), 03 May 2014 – Offering a hard and choppy base with sandy topsoil, Valkenswaard set a very tricky and challenging stage for round six of the FIM Motocross World Championship, which kicked off today with the qualifying heat dominance of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s dynamic duo Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings.

MXGP

The MXGP class had their work cut out for them right from the get-go when the reigning world champion Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli got off to a cracker of a start. Chasing the Italian around turn one, Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Gautier Paulin led two of Belgium’s hottest sand riders, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Van Horebeek and Rockstar Energy Suzuki World’s Kevin Strijbos.

While Cairoli appeared to find his rhythm immediately, Van Horebeek and Strijbos were ganging up on the Frenchman Paulin, who soon subdued to the pressure of Van Horebeek. With Van Horebeek going through to take second, Paulin was dropped back to third and forced to juggle his modes of attack or defense, while Strijbos remained relentless in fourth.

Although all three kept each other honest, it was Van Horebeek to cross the line nine seconds back from the red plate of Cairoli, while Paulin held off the Belgian Strijbos for third. Rockstar Energy Suzuki World’s Clement Desalle found a way around Team HRC’s Evgeny Bobryshev and Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Tyla Rattray late in the race to finish fifth while Bobryshev rode steady to take sixth with Rattray coming home in seventh.

MXGP Qualifying Race top ten: 1. Antonio Cairoli (ITA, KTM), 24:47.567; 2. Jeremy Van Horebeek (BEL, Yamaha), +0:09.375; 3. Gautier Paulin (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:11.446; 4. Kevin Strijbos (BEL, Suzuki), +0:14.663; 5. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), +0:37.726; 6. Evgeny Bobryshev (RUS, Honda), +0:43.907; 7. Tyla Rattray (RSA, Husqvarna), +0:46.394; 8. Joel Roelants (BEL, Honda), +0:48.898; 9. Steven Frossard (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:53.139; 10. Tanel Leok (EST, TM), +1:04.094.

MX2

With a gigantic roar of the crowd, the gates dropped to the advantage of CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Arnaud Tonus who claimed the holeshot ahead of two of MX2’s freshest faces, Standing Construct KTM’s Valentin Guillod and Honda Gariboldi’s Tim Gajser. With Tonus in the prime position and the king of sand Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings sitting well outside of the top five, the fans got on their feet in anticipation of yet another Herlings vs Tonus show down.

Although the idea of a massive battle between the red plate holder Tonus and the reigning MX2 world champion Herlings sounded great in theory, it turned out to be somewhat of an anti-climax as Herlings wasted no time in slicing his way through the pack to take over the lead on lap two. While Herlings unsurprisingly went on to check out, Tonus was forced to deal with a bout of pressure from his Swiss counterpart Guillod who was charging hard in third yet doing his best to keep the 2012 EMX125 champion Gajser at bay.

While the top four proceeded to run away, a huge battle was unfolding as Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Romain Febvre, CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Dylan Ferrandis and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jordi Tixier engaged in a three-way for fifth. After dicing the position back and forth for the majority of the race, it was Tixier who eventually rose to the occasion and took control of the position.

Twenty-minutes plus two laps on, the real Jeffrey Herlings confirmed his attendance, stamping his authority in the sand once again by winning by over twenty-seven seconds over Arnaud Tonus, Valentin Guillod and Tim Gajser. Jordi Tixier edged out a persistent Romain Febvre for fifth while Dylan Ferrandis dropped back to finish a comfortable seventh.

MX2 Qualifying Race top ten: 1. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), 24:38.409; 2. Arnaud Tonus (SUI, Kawasaki), +0:27.919; 3. Valentin Guillod (SUI, KTM), +0:33.531; 4. Tim Gajser (SLO, Honda), +0:34.371; 5. Jordi Tixier (FRA, KTM), +0:37.604; 6. Romain Febvre (FRA, Husqvarna), +0:43.509; 7. Dylan Ferrandis (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:56.064; 8. Jeremy Seewer (SUI, Suzuki), +1:05.112; 9. Damon Graulus (BEL, KTM), +1:06.603; 10. Aleksandr Tonkov (RUS, Husqvarna), +1:08.314.

EMX

Round three of the European Championship EMX125 and the opening round of the European Championship EMX150 also took to the gnarly Valkenswaard sand with two local heroes both winning the first races of their respective classes.

Red Bull KTM Racing’s Davy Pootjes did his home fans proud, wining his fourth EMX125 race of the year ahead of Diga Racing’s Tomass Sileika and SV Racing MX Team Russia’s Ivan Baranov, while in the EMX150 another Dutch sensation in the form of Rick Elzinga dominated ahead of Finnish duo Jere Haavisto and Matias Murto.

WMX

The third round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship also got underway with their first race of the weekend. After winning her home round in Arco di Trento, Italy, Chiara Fontanesi was in tip-top shape here today passing Natalie Kane in the early phase of the race to run away with her second victory this season. Meanwhile Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge recovered from a bad start to charge her way to second, dropping the red plate holder, Kane, back to third.

Kawasaki Motors Europe continues to power Youthstream’s logistics operations

Youthstream would like to express their gratitude to Kawasaki Motors Europe for their ongoing support to the MXGP series, which includes their supply of utility vehicles for practical use on and around the circuits of MXGP.

Kawasaki’s 4x4 Mules and Quads offer Youthstream an extra pair of hands in setting up and maintaining the infrastructure of MXGP. They are extremely versatile, easy to operate and maneuver around the track and paddock. No job is too big and no terrain is too tough for these utility vehicles to handle, which makes them the perfect partner for Youthstream’s logistics crew.

Kawasaki is a leading brand in motorcycling and is the title sponsor of three teams that have genuine shots at the titles in both MXGP and MX2. Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team hosts two of the hottest talents in MXGP, Gautier Paulin and Steven Frossard, while CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy flies the flag for Kawasaki in MX2 with their young stars Arnaud Tonus, Dylan Ferrandis and Thomas Covington. CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy also has two heavy hitters racing hard in MXGP, Tommy Searle and Alessandro Lupino, while in the European and FIM Women’s Motocross Championship’s Kawasaki sponsors Bud Racing Kawasaki with Jorge Zaragoza and Meghan Rutledge and Team One One Four with Livia Lancelot.

Taking on the turf of the orange army

VALKENSWAARD (The Netherlands), 30 April 2014 - It is expected that round six of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands, will be flooded by a tsunami of Dutch fans dressed in orange. Coincidentally, orange is not only the color worn by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Dutch phenomenon Jeffrey Herlings, it is also the countries national color, representing passion, pride and royalty.

Also tackling the sand of Valkenswaard this weekend, the women of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship will be lining up for their third round this year with HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane running the red plate as championship points leader for the first time in her career.

Meanwhile Red Bull KTM Racing’s Davy Pootjes will lead the European Championship EMX125 into round three this weekend, where the Dutch youngster will go for his third consecutive overall this year in front of his home crowd, while the smaller EMX150 class will also be taking to the track to compete for round one of the European Championship EMX150 on CRF150’s kindly set up and supplied by Honda.

MXGP

The odds were up against the reigning world champ Antonio Cairoli in Bulgaria, yet it was him who prevailed and further extended his MXGP points lead. While we have come to expect the unexpected this season, it raises the question is there anyone who can stop or even slow down the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider as heads straight for FIM motocross world title number eight?

Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Gautier Paulin is probably the most likely to stop Cairoli from claiming a new World Title. The stylish Frenchman has proved he’s got the pace and the ability, but so far has been burdened by bad luck.

Like the Dutch, Belgian’s are also amazing in the sand and they aren’t shy in saying they dig a good sand race. Having grown up in the sand and given his huge amount of progress this year, it could finally be Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Van Horebeek’s time to shine.

Meanwhile Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s duo of Belgians Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos, who have done their fair share of laps in the sand, are consistent top three threats. Belgian fans will be betting on Strijbos for a podium this weekend after his fourth here last year, which was then followed up by a second overall in the sand of Lierop (The Netherlands) later that season.

It will be a bitter sweet round of MXGP for Team HRC as they come in confident in Bobby’s (Evgeny Bobryshev) ability to put Honda on the box, especially after his third place here in Valkenswaard last year. Meanwhile on the same note, the team will be guttered to miss their biggest championship threat Max Nagl who had surgery on his wrist late last week after being a victim of a freak accident at a training track in Holland.

Also falling victim to the same wreck as Nagl, Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Todd Waters wound up with two broken bones in his leg which required immediate surgery, a fractured hip and a broken collarbone. It is said the friendly Australian will have to sit out eight weeks but has opted to remain in Europe and attend all the rounds of MXGP as a spectator, “It’s good to stay here and go to the races, at least then I can see the tracks, see how they cut up so I know if I ever have to race there, I can say yeah! I know this track, I have been here before”.

On a happier note, CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Tommy Searle, who was knocking on the door of the top five at the opening round of MXGP in Qatar but was quickly sidelined at the following round in Thailand after an enormous crash over a massive jump broke his wrist, will make his return this weekend.

MX2

Dressed in orange, not only for his country but also for his team, motocross royalty Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings will be the one to watch. The nineteen-year-old Dutch sensation’s skills on a sand track have never been doubted, he has proved time and time again he is one of the best sand riders to ever walk the planet, although his form of late has been firmly challenged which makes us wonder can someone foot it with him on his own turf?

Red plate holder CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Arnaud Tonus has gone on the record to say he is going into this weekend believing he can win, which is great news for the fans and also the best attitude to have as a racer. Although winning against Jeffrey Herlings in the sand may have been touted as impossible, if we have learnt anything this season, it is that nothing is impossible.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jordi Tixier finally turned things around in Bulgaria when he took home two thirds for third overall. Now with his first podium finish of the season under his belt, and with the confidence of second here last year, it will be interesting to see what Frenchman can do.

BikeIT Yamaha Cosworth’s Max Anstie has made some bold statements this year in saying “I realized I could win when I was about 10 years old and I raced Jeffrey (Herlings) in the sand. I know I’m the fastest. There’s no one that can do the things I can do” which could make for some exciting racing this weekend with the animosity between Anstie and Herlings going way back to their 85cc days.

Meanwhile young guns CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Dylan Ferrandis and Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s duo of Aleksandr Tonkov and Romain Febvre can also be surprise contenders this weekend. Ferrandis was hauling in the sand of Lierop last year, when he took second overall behind the king of sand, Jeffrey Herlings.

Kemea Yamaha Racing’s Petar Petrov will also be coming in hot. The Bulgarian rode amazing in front of his home crowd two weeks ago, battling in both races from the back of the pack to come home with an outstanding sixth overall. After spending the last ten years living in Belgium, the Bulgarian has definitely honed his sand skills and could have a shot at his first ever podium finish this weekend.

While MX2 championship threat, Rockstar Energy Suzuki World’s Glenn Coldenhoff took a devastating blow this week when a crash while training tore the ligaments off his knee. The Dutchman went immediately to a specialist who later confirmed he needed immediate surgery. “I am so disappointed. I had maximum points in the Dutch championship and was third in the MX2 World Championship with Valkenswaard next. It would have been a good season, but now I have to focus on coming back from this”.

Fontanesi flies the flag for Italy in Italy

ARCO DI TRENTO (Italy), 13 April 2014 – It was an intense turn of events this weekend in Arco di Trento at round two of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship. Local hero Chiara Fontanesi was the first Italian of the weekend to top the box while HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane rode smooth and consistent to claim her first ever FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship red plate and take third over all at the WMX round of Trentino.

In race one yesterday afternoon, Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge took the holeshot and smashed out thirteen consistently fast laps to win race one ahead of Team One One Four’s Livia Lancelot. Although, initially it appeared Lancelot would make a run at the young Australian as she set the fastest lap time of the race on lap three, nothing came of it and the French wonder settled for second, five seconds ahead of the reigning FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Chiara Fontanesi. HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane and Team Dragon Moto’s Stephanie Laier came home in fourth and fifth respectively.

When the gates dropped for WMX moto two, it was the scenario everyone had been waiting for with the red plate holder Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge and the reigning WMX world champion and Italian fan favorite Chiara Fontanesi going 1 – 2 around turn one followed by HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane, Team Dragon Moto’s Stephanie Laier and Team One One Four’s Livia Lancelot. The Rutledge vs Fontanesi show had burst into life with the Italian crowd not afraid to get in on the action and show some love for their Italian star Fontanesi as she tried everything to find a way around the Australian Rutledge. After leading the race for nineteen minutes, disaster struck Rutledge when she caught an edge through the waves and went down hard. While the fans went wild for Fontanesi, poor Rutledge was forced to watch the points pass her as she spent an entire lap trying to kick-start her bike. One lap later, Rutledge was finally back up and going but well outside of points. Meanwhile Team One One Four’s Livia Lancelot was having a few problems of her own, going down soon after moving into third and then going down again half a lap later to drop her back to eighth.

Eventually, Chiara Fontanesi took the checkers and won her first race of the year four seconds ahead of Team Dragon Moto’s Stephanie Laier who had passed HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane on the last lap. Italian Francessca Nocera put in an outstanding performance for fourth with Team One One Four’s Livia Lancelot recovering for fifth.

After a dramatic day on the track, the reigning FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Chiara Fontanesi took her first WMX round win this year with the ex FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Team Dragon Moto’s Stephanie Laier taking second and HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane taking third.

HM Plant KTM UK’s Natalie Kane is now leading the WMX championship two points clear of Chiara Fontanesi. After a tough day, Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge drops back to third in the standings, five points off the championship lead.

In three weeks, the next round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship will take place in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands.

Frossard, Guillod, Pootjes and Rutledge Top Day One in Trentino

ARCO DI TRENTO (Italy), 12 April 2014 - Arco di Trento was everything but tranquil today with round four of the FIM Motocross World Championship kicking off. Roaring Italians watched on as Monster Energy Kawasaki Factory Racing Team’s Steven Frossard made the statement “I’m back” when he pulled the holeshot and led every lap from start to finish to run away with MXGP’s qualifying heat win, while in MX2, it was the rise of a dark horse with last years EMX250 champion Standing Construct KTM’s Valentin Guillod putting in a awe-inspiring ride to take home his first ever MX2 pole position.

Meanwhile the fans of MXGP were able to witness some extra action today with round two of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship and round one of the European EMX125 Championship both taking place and both racing their first pointed race of the weekend.

In the WMX red plate holder Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge nailed her second holeshot of the season and went on to win ahead of the 2008 FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Livia Lancelot and the reigning WMX world champion and Italian wonder woman Chiara Fontanesi. Meanwhile in the EMX125, multi time European EMX85 and EMX65 champ Red Bull KTM Racing’s Davy Pootjes is evidently embracing the bigger 125 bike, laying down the fastest lap in timed practice and going on to win the first race of the season by over twenty-one seconds ahead of two popular Italians Michele Baraiolo and Filippo Zonta.

MXGP

MXGP’s qualifying race was a manufacture’s dream, with all six manufacturers holding a place within the top seven. Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Steven Frossard looked at home on the hard packed clay of Arco Di Trento, taking the holeshot and going on to lead every lap unchallenged. Behind the flying Frenchman Frossard, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Van Horebeek was looking solid holding off the brisk seven-time world champ Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli. Unfortunately with a few laps to go the hard charging Belgian ran too hot into a corner causing the front end to wash out, dropping him back to fifth. Meanwhile Cairoli was riding with his typical race smarts, not doing anything silly to cross the line in second ahead of Rockstar Energy Suzuki World’s super smooth Clement Desalle and Team HRC’s Max Nagl. Also keeping the rowdy Italians on their toes, TM Ricci Racing’s Davide Guarneri followed Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Jake Nicholls home for an outstanding seventh with Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Gautier Paulin, who battled from twentieth place to come home in eighth.

MXGP Qualifying Race Top Ten: 1. Steven Frossard (FRA, Kawasaki), 24:29.095; 2. Antonio Cairoli (ITA, KTM), +0:09.235; 3. Clement Desalle (BEL, Suzuki), +0:14.828; 4. Maximilian Nagl (GER, Honda), +0:25.433; 5. Jeremy Van Horebeek (BEL, Yamaha), +0:34.585; 6. Jake Nicholls (GBR, KTM), +0:38.438; 7. Davide Guarneri (ITA, TM), +0:39.508; 8. Gautier Paulin (FRA, Kawasaki), +0:40.144; 9. David Philippaerts (ITA, Yamaha), +0:45.841; 10. Kevin Strijbos (BEL, Suzuki), +0:46.893.

MX2

When the gates dropped at the scenic circuit of Arco di Trento for MX2’s qualifying race no one could have predicted what was about to happen. Flying out of the gate, Standing Construct KTM’s Valentin Guillod and the usual suspect KTM Silver Action’s José Butrón were neck and neck for the holeshot with Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Romain Febvre and last years’ EMX250 runner up Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Jeremy Seewer hot on their heels.

While the MX2 veteran Butrón did his best to hold off the rookie Guillod and the young gun Febvre, it wasn’t long before the two up-and-comers had found a way around, leaving the Spaniard to deal with pressure from two of the biggest championship threats CLS Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Arnaud Tonus and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings. While Febvre was keeping Guillod honest out front, Herlings had found a way around the current MX2 red plate holder Tonus engaging himself in a battle with his old foe, Butrón. After an intense dual for third, it was Herlings who prevailed with Tonus to follow through soon after. Coming into the closing stages of the race, Herlings made a last ditch charge to catch the leaders Guillod and Febvre, but unfortunately time ran out for the Dutch sensation and it was hats off for the MX2 rookie Valentin Guillod who rode an amazing race to take home his first ever MX2 heat win ahead of Romain Febvre. After chopping the gap to first place down considerably, Herlings came home in third, five seconds ahead of the MX2 red plate holder Arnaud Tonus and the king of holeshots José Butrón.

After a great days racing, Frossard and Guillod head into tomorrow in pole position in their respective classes, while the WMX and EMX125 will line up tomorrow for their second race of the weekend where both Rutledge and Pootjes will be aiming to remain unbeaten for the season.

MX2 Qualifying Race Top Ten: 1. Valentin Guillod (SUI, KTM), 25:00.220; 2. Romain Febvre (FRA, Husqvarna), +0:02.534; 3. Jeffrey Herlings (NED, KTM), +0:03.002; 4. Arnaud Tonus (SUI, Kawasaki), +0:09.773; 5. Jose Butron (ESP, KTM), +0:27.495; 6. Max Anstie (GBR, Yamaha), +0:28.851; 7. Jeremy Seewer (SUI, Suzuki), +0:29.260; 8. Jordi Tixier (FRA, KTM), +0:33.150; 9. Mel Pocock (GBR, KTM), +0:34.163; 10. Damon Graulus (BEL, KTM), +0:34.665
