MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 18 July 2022 – MXGP is excited to continue the Fox Holeshot competition for the 2022 season of the FIM Motocross World Championship, together with MXGP partner Fox.

How does the competition work?

Every Grand Prix race, during both MXGP and MX2 races, the rider who crosses the white line painted on the ground at the exit of the first corner secures the Fox Holeshot and receives one point. At the end of the season, the two riders, one per category, with the most Fox Holeshot points will win the mega prize!

At the MXGP of Czech Republic, there were four Fox Holeshot winners across the MXGP and MX2 categories, which included Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer who was fastest out of the gate in MXGP race one, while Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado was the leading rider into the first corner in race two.

In MX2, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing dominated both starts with Thibault Benistant taking the Fox Holeshot in race one, while Jago Geerts secured it in race two.

After 13 rounds, Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado and Tom Vialle continue to lead the Fox Holeshot Classifications with 13 and 9 points each. The Fox Holeshot competition will continue this weekend at the MXGP of Flanders.

Seewer and Geerts Victorious in Czech Republic!

LOKET (Czech Republic) 17 July 2022 – The 13th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship has concluded in sunny Loket, with Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing teams celebrating a successful weekend with Grand Prix victories from Jeremy Seewer and Jago Geerts.

Thousands of fans, which included those from Czech Republic, Switzerland and Slovenia, among others, made the trip to Loket and lined the edges of the circuit as they cheered on their heroes, making for a loud and colourful display throughout the weekend.

It was a big weekend for Yamaha as they went on to win all of the races, with Thibault Benistant and Jeremy Seewer winning the first races in MXGP and MX2, while Jago Geerts and Maxime Renaux were victorious in races two. Additionally, Geerts went on to claim the red plate in MX2 and now leads the championship by eight points over Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle.

A couple of main competitors were missing from the grid, as Honda114 Motorsports’ Ruben Fernandez did not line up after a big crash in practice, and Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre made the decision to sit out MXGP race two, due to illness.

In MXGP, the Fox Holeshot in race one went to Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer though it was Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado who got himself straight into the lead ahead of Team HRC’s Tim Gajser, Seewer and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Maxime Renaux.

Team HRC’s Mitch Evans also started well as he passed Gebben Van Venrooy Yamaha Racing’s Calvin Vlaanderen for sixth.

Seewer then closed in on Prado and Gajser and took second from the Slovenian on the third lap. Gajser looked to respond but could not get the drive. The Swiss then set the fastest lap of the race as he began applying the pressure onto Prado. It took him just three laps to pass him.

Gajser was also improving his pace as he looked to stay with the leaders. The Slovenian managed to pass Prado on lap 10 and focused his attention on Seewer in first place.

For Prado, this was just the beginning as Renaux began to close in. Prado held third place for just a lap before being passed by the Frenchman and by the end of the race was also caught by Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Glenn Coldenhoff.

F&H Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jed Beaton was forced out of the race as a result of a broken wheel.

In the end, Seewer was able to gold off Gajser and win his third race of the 2022 season. Gajser was second ahead of Renaux, Coldenhoff and Prado.

In race two, the Fox Holeshot went to Prado, though it was Seewer who got himself into the lead, as Renaux, Coldenhoff, Prado and Gajser followed.

Gajser was able to make some fast passes on the opening lap as he got around Prado and Coldenhoff, and found himself on the rear wheel of Renaux and Seewer.

Seewer’s time in the lead was short, as Renaux charged past his teammate by the end of the first lap and began to open up a gap to the rest of the field.

Meanwhile, Evans, once again, started well and was pushing Coldenhoff for fourth, while further down the order Vlaanderen was making some nice passes as he made his way through the field. The Yamaha rider first passed Valentin Guillod of iXS Hostettler MXGP Team, then later made a move on Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing's Mattia Guadagnini and then Beaton, followed by Evans as he ultimately finished in sixth just behind Prado.

There was not many other passes, as Renaux looked totally in control and was not letting Seewer or Gajser come any closer. In the end, the Frenchman won with a 3.257 second advantage over his teammate as Gajser crossed the line third ahead of Coldenhoff and Prado.

A 1-2 result gave Seewer his second Grand Prix win of the season, as Renaux made one epic come back from injury with second overall, his sixth podium of the year, ahead of Gajser who was third.

Gajser continues to lead the MXGP standings with a 125-point advantage over Seewer, while Prado remains third ahead of Renaux who is fourth.

Jeremy Seewer: “It’s incredible to win this one, even though I could have gone 1-1, but I just made one mistake in the opening lap where Maxime got me. He was riding really well and I tried to catch him. I was a bit quicker, but I couldn’t make it happen. I took the GP win, which is amazing. I’m not giving up yet, I will try to fight for as many points as possible and we have a few GP’s to go, so let’s see where we get and I will try to win some more”.

Maxime Renaux: “Yeah, it was amazing. You know, coming back after such an injury wasn't an easy one. I already wanted to ride in Indonesia, to save as many points as possible, but it was not possible, the back was still not stable enough. But I made some really big steps with the physio to be able to come back in such a good shape. So yeah, it's just amazing. I couldn't dream of a better GP, you know, having a race win and being second on the podium. I’m just super grateful because it could have been much worse and I’m still not done for the championship. So we still keep this in mind and try to go to the end of the season like this would be amazing”.

Tim Gajser: “It was a solid day. If I’m honest, I was kind of struggling on track today in both races and I even got a little bit of arm pump, so yeah, I was not riding like myself really. But anyway, Jeremy and Maxime were faster today but I’m happy to be on the podium in front of so many Slovenian fans. Now we go to Lommel, I like that track so I’m looking forward to it”.

In the opening MX2 race, it was Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Thibault Benistant who grabbed the Fox Holeshot as he led Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Simon Längenfelder and Tom Guyon of Team VRT KTM VERITISE.

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jago Geerts managed to get himself into third quickly, as Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle started in around 11th position.

Ship to Cycle Honda SR Motoblouz rider Stephen Rubini had a good opening lap as he made some nice passes to land himself in third as Geerts dropped back to fourth, while Vialle was up to seventh.

Benistant had the constant pressure of Längenfelder and despite setting some fast laps, could not shake the German. Further behind, Geerts battled with Rubini and finally after seven laps, he was able to make the pass stick.

Vialle meanwhile started to fade as Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Kay de Wolf passed him and then so did SM Action Racing Team YUASA Battery’s Andrea Adamo and DIGA Procross KTM Racing’s Liam Everts.

Big Van World MTX Kawasaki’s Mikkel Haarup was the next rider to push Vialle further down the order, as the Frenchman found himself down in 10th by lap 9. Haarup was able to get around Adamo soon after that.

In the end, Benistant was the race winner, Längenfelder crossed the line in second, while Geerts ended his lonely ride in third ahead of Rubini and de Wolf. Vialle finished 10th.

In race two, it was Geerts with the Fox Holeshot that time around with Vialle, Längenfelder just behind. It did not take long for Vialle to find his way into the lead as he passed Geerts and took control by the end of the first lap.

Once again, F&H Kawasaki Racing’s Kevin Horgmo and Rubini started well in fourth and fifth, though Rubini was caught by Benistant who was looking to make his way up the order after a poor start.

de Wolf meanwhile made up two spots after he got around Jeremy Sydow of Raths Motorsports and Tomas Kohut of Osicka MX Team for eighth.

Vialle and Geerts maintained a steady gap that was less than two seconds for much of the race, until lap 10, when Vialle made a mistake and went off the track, which allowed Geerts into the lead.

Benistant then caught Horgmo and passed him for third, while Jan Pancar of TEM JP253 had a very good race in sixth after passing de Wolf in the early stages of the race.

Geerts went on to win the race, Vialle finished second ahead of Benistant and Horgmo.

A 2-1 result gave Geerts the overall win over his teammate Benistant who finished second, while Längenfelder celebrated his fourth podium of the season.

With Vialle finishing 10th in race one and behind Geerts in race two, this meant that for the eighth time this season we saw the red plate change hands as Geerts now leads the MX2 Championship by eighth points, while Längenfelder remains third.

Jago Geerts: “I’m happy for sure. In the first heat, I didn’t have the best start and I was struggling a bit with the track, but then for the second race, I made a small change on the bike, and I took the Fox Holeshot, so I was happy with that. Then in the first lap I made a mistake and Tom passed me, but after that I felt strong on the bike and good on the track, so after like 15 minutes I passed Tom and then pushed until the end and won the race. I’m really happy with that and I’ve also got the championship lead back, so it will be nice to ride with the red plate in Lommel next week”.

Thibault Benistant: “Yes, of course I wanted that win in the second race, but the guys are fast also. I didn’t get a bad start but touched with other riders in the first corner and then I was fired up to push and comeback. But I was struggling with the track a little bit and I made myself tired trying to push to pass Kevin. I made the pass and gave it everything I had. I’m a little disappointed but it’s good to finish second”.

Simon Längenfelder: “It was a good weekend! I was consistent and had two good starts. They were not perfect, but definitely good. I was feeling like I could make a pass for the lead in race one, but he just did not make any mistakes. 2-3 for third overall is quite good! I took a lot of points too. Now we are looking forward to the sand next weekend.”

In addition, RAM will receive four advertising boards around the track and an activation area in the paddock/public area at the events in Europe, which will give audiences in Europe the chance to learn more about RAM’s product range and become more familiar with the brand.

Seewer and Benistant Dominate Qualifying in Loket

LOKET (Czech Republic) 16 July 2022 – Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer and Thibault Benistant dominated the MXGP and MX2 qualifying heats at the MXGP Czech Republic and will start tomorrow’s races from pole position.

The qualifying sessions, along with action from the EMX65, EMX85, EMX2T and MXE concluded the first day of racing in Loket as excitement begins to build for the main racing tomorrow, along with the title crowning of the European classes.

In the MXGP qualifying race, it was Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jeremy Seewer who grabbed the holeshot, ahead of Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado, Mattia Guadagnini, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Glenn Coldenhoff and Team HRC’s Tim Gajser.

In the first few laps, Gajser was able to find his way past Coldenhoff and then Guadagnini, as he began to set his sights on the leaders. Prado was pushing Seewer, who made a couple of mistakes as he tried different lines.

Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Romain Febvre had a tough qualifying race, as he started in 14th and only managed one position by the chequered flag.

Gajser then closed right in on Prado, though it took the Slovenian around three or four laps to squeeze by the Spaniard and move into second.

Standing Construct Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Pauls Jonass was looking fast, as he set the fastest lap of the race from seventh position as he chased down Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Maxime Renaux who made his return to racing.

Renaux passed Guadagnini for fifth on lap eight, with the Italian losing another spot to Jonass by the following lap, which allowed the Latvian to stick with Renaux. Jonass was able to pass Renaux for fifth on the final lap.

In the final few laps, we watched Gajser apply the pressure onto Seewer who had a few sketchy moments. Though managed to keep it on two wheels to bring it home and secure his first qualifying race win of the season. Gajser was forced to settle for second ahead of Coldenhoff, Jonass and Renaux.

Jeremy Seewer: “It's my first pole position of this year. So, I'm happy about that. I didn't came here thinking I'm able to do that because the week was horrible, but yeah, it's good to start on pole. I mean, tomorrow's a new day, it's just the qualifying race so I used this to try different lines and some things. Like you said, I had a few little moments trying different things because Tim was behind me, but I’m happy to get away with the win”.

“Yeah, that would be cool. I know I'm in shape and ready to do all of that. It just takes a good start in both races and stuff. I'm confident and you know, I won't put too much pressure because on this track, you need to stay relaxed to be fast. It's slippery, sketchy, so I'm definitely going to plan on winning a bit more in the future”.

MXGP - Qualifying Race – Top 10 Classification: 1. Jeremy Seewer (SUI, Yamaha), 24:14.592; 2. Tim Gajser (SLO, Honda), +0:03.096; 3. Jorge Prado (ESP, GASGAS), +0:05.363; 4. In the MX2 qualifying race, it was SM Action Racing Team YUASA Battery’s Andrea Adamo who got a flying start but was soon passed by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle and Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing’s Thibault Benistant.

Vialle then crashed on the opening lap, as did Geerts with the duo picking themselves quickly to stay within the top 10.

Gianluca Facchetti of KTM Beddini MX2 started well and was among the leaders before he dropped back to ninth and later finished the race in 20th. It was the Italian’s first race since Argentina.

Geerts then passed Kay de Wolf of Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing for fifth as he made his way back up the order. The Belgian then set his sights on Vialle who was ahead of him and looking to make a move on Adamo.

While Vialle was focused on Adamo for second, Geert was able to make the most of this opportunity and caught the Frenchman off-guard as he stole third. At this point Benistant was more than nine seconds ahead of the field and looking comfortable for the win.

In the end, Benistant secured his second qualifying race win of the season. He won ahead of Adamo, Geerts, Vialle and Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing’s Simon Längenfelder.

Thibault Benistant: “It’s my second win of this season. I feel good on the bike and I’m enjoying the riding and when I have this feeling I can be quite fast. For sure, tomorrow I’m looking forward to take a good start for some good races”.
