LOMMEL SIGNS FOR FIVE MORE YEARS AS THE HOME OF THE MXGP OF FLANDERS

ERNÉE (France), 4 October 2026 - Infront Moto Racing is thrilled to announce a five-year renewal of the MXGP of Flanders in Lommel, securing one of the most iconic venues in the sport on the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar through to the end of the 2031 season. The agreement was announced in Ernée in the presence of the event organisers, Johan Boonen, Ann Plas and Jo De Munck.

The MXGP of Flanders needs no introduction. Lommel has hosted the World Championship since 1990 and is known across the world as the temple of motocross. Year after year, its treacherous, ever-changing sand produces spectacular racing, testing the fitness, technique and mental strength of every rider on the gate, while the outstanding organisation is cherished by fans, riders and the paddock alike.

THE HEART OF THE PADDOCK

Signing for another five years is very exciting for motocross and for MXGP. Lommel is not only a Grand Prix venue, it is where the championship lives for much of the year, with a large number of teams and riders based in and around the town and training on its sand. For many in the paddock, the MXGP of Flanders is the closest thing to a home race.

The importance of Belgium to motocross is highlighted by the stunning Grand Prix in Lommel, which has also hosted the Motocross of Nations and continues to attract huge crowds every summer.

David Luongo, CEO & President of Infront Moto Racing: "Lommel is one of the most important races we have. For me it is like the Monaco Grand Prix for Formula 1, a very specific event where the whole industry gathers around the track, and the one every rider wants to put his name on. The relationship with Johan and his team is always fantastic, and every year they raise the bar in quality and presentation. This year they broke the spectator record and gave the fans more space to see the whole track. Every two or three years they renew the layout and create new areas. It is a real gathering for our whole community, so for us as promoter it is always a great pleasure to renew it."

Antonio Alia Portela, FIM / CMS Director: "Having Lommel on the calendar for the next five years is a way to consolidate the series. Everybody knows how iconic and demanding the track is, and you never know what the layout will be until you get there, because every year Johan and his team find a new way to make it even more demanding. We expect the unexpected, and they always surprise us. The facilities, the preparation and the people we work with there are fantastic. I wish them all the best for the next five years, and I am sure we will witness the evolution of this place again and again."

Johan Boonen, Ann Plas and Jo de Munck, Organisers of the MXGP of Flanders: “‘We are delighted to sign this new long-term agreement with Infront, extending our partnership for a longer period than ever before since we started organizing the Grand Prix of Flanders in Lommel back in 2008.

This longer-term commitment gives us the perspective and stability to further invest in both our organisation and the venue’s infrastructure, in close cooperation with the Stedelijk Motorcrosscentrum, which is responsible for the daily operation of the track.

Mobility to and around the event will remain an important point of attention in the coming years. We are confident that, together with the City of Lommel, we can continue to work towards sustainable solutions.

Our ambition for the coming years is to keep improving the visitor experience and to further develop Lommel as the place to be when it comes to motocross.

We want to build on that legacy and make the Grand Prix and it’s venue even more iconic than they already are, living up to it’s nickname “Lommelwood”.

CALENDAR UPDATE: MÉRIDA JOINS THE FIM MOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AS THE NEW HOME OF THE MXGP OF SPAIN

ERNÉE (France) 2 October 2026 –  Infront Moto Racing is proud to announce that Mérida, the capital of Extremadura, will join the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2027 as the new home of the MXGP of Spain on 17-18 April. Alongside the MXGP and MX2 World Championship classes, the weekend will also host rounds of the EMX250 and EMX125 European Championships, bringing the full spectrum of international motocross to one of Spain's most historic destinations.

The arrival of Mérida is part of a wider project for MXGP in Spain. Both Spanish events on the calendar, the MXGP of Spain in Mérida and the MXGP of Andalucia will be delivered by the same organisers, Seventy 6 Motion. Bringing both events under one partner creates a single, coherent vision for the championship in Spain, built on three pillars: stability, growth and innovation.

Each event is secured under a three-year agreement starting in 2027 and running until the end of the 2029 season. This long-term commitment gives riders, teams, partners and fans a clear horizon in a nation that has celebrated many World Champions in recent seasons, including Guillem Farres, current MX2 World Champion and Daniela Guillen, 2026 WMX World Champion; and which now looks ahead to the next generation of Spanish talent ready to fight for the title on home ground.

WHERE HISTORY MEETS MOTOCROSS

Founded in 25 BC as Augusta Emerita, Mérida became the capital of the Roman province of Lusitania and today preserves one of the most important Roman archaeological ensembles in the world. The Roman Theatre, Amphitheatre, Circus, Temple of Diana and Roman Bridge are among the landmarks that have earned the city its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The arrival of MXGP creates a unique connection between an ancient Roman capital and the energy, speed and spectacle of modern motocross, with more than 2,000 years of history forming the backdrop to a brand-new chapter for the championship.

A CITY OF CULTURE, TOURISM AND MAJOR EVENTS

Events such as the International Classical Theatre Festival and Emerita Lvdica have shown Mérida's ability to transform its historic setting into a stage for major national and international occasions, experience that will now be put to work for the world's premier motocross championship. Mérida is now turned to the future with development in its accommodation capacity and annual programme of major events continuing to grow.

The region itself of Extremadura also offers spectacular natural landscapes, open countryside, historic cities, renowned gastronomy and a strong connection with outdoor life, making it a natural fit for a sport rooted in the land.

Its location also gives the event an important cross-border dimension. Mérida sits on the Madrid to Lisbon and Seville to northern Spain transport corridors, placing the new venue within easy reach of fans from across Spain and neighbouring Portugal. Badajoz Airport is approximately 50 kilometres away, while Seville and Lisbon provide additional international gateways.

David Luongo, CEO & President of Infront Moto Racing: "Not long ago it was difficult to have races in Spain, and the Spanish Federation and the whole motocross community there have done fantastic work since. This year Spanish riders won three titles, in the European classes, in WMX and in MX2. The MXGP of Andalucia had one of the biggest crowds of the season, with an organiser and a region that truly embrace motocross. As promoter it is important to develop the Spanish market, and I am sure every Spanish rider is very happy to have a second race at home. We have no doubt it will be a success."

Antonio Alia Portela, FIM/CMS Director: "Organising one MXGP event is crazy enough, and these people are going to organise two in Spain! They showed us this year in Almonte, in the middle of one of the most protected natural areas in Spain, that they are capable of something unexpected and very successful. Now they bring us to Mérida, which the Romans named Emerita Augusta and planned as one of the most important cities of the empire. It is another special place, close to the Portuguese border, and I know it is going to be really, really successful. For the community, there will not only be motocross but also a spectacular city to discover."

Juan Cabral, Strategics Director Seventy 6 Motion : " The arrival of MXGP in Mérida presents an extraordinary opportunity to showcase Mérida and Extremadura on the international stage, blending over 2,000 years of history with the excitement and spectacle of the world's best motocross. For Seventy6 Motion, this Grand Prix also marks a significant milestone in a project founded with the aim of creating and developing major motorsport events capable of generating a positive impact on the region—sporting, tourism-related, and economic alike. We want to build a Grand Prix in Mérida with a unique identity, one that grows and establishes itself firmly on the global calendar. We extend our special thanks to Infront Moto Racing for the trust they have placed in us, as well as to all the institutions and organizations making this project a reality.

On April 17 and 18, 2027, a new chapter begins for Mérida, for Extremadura, and for Seventy6 Motion. We want the world to discover that here, where history spans more than two millennia, we can also write the future of motocross."

PAULS JONASS REMAINS WITH KRT FOR 2027

The Kawasaki Racing Team will line-up again three riders next season in the FIM Motocross World Championship. Alongside Mathis Valin and Francisco Garcia involved in the MX2 project, Pauls Jonass will continue his MXGP journey in his third season with the Kawasaki Racing Team.

Regularly in the top five of the most recent MXGP rounds, Pauls has recovered well from the injury that forced him to miss two rounds earlier in the season. Thanks to his long experience, the 2017 MX2 World Champion is delivering his best season so far in MXGP having joined the premier class after clinching a gold and a silver medal in MX2.

Twenty-nine years old, winner of twelve GP’s in his career (eleven in the MX2 class and one in the MXGP category) the likeable Latvian rider has a productive and strong relationship with KRT team manager, Antti Pyrhonen. After two seasons on the KX450F-SR, he is fully integrated into the fabric of the team and has been involved in the development of the factory KX450-SR bikes alongside the team’s professional staff and factory race department technicians.

While Mathis and Francisco will focus on the KX250 project in the MX2 class, there’s no doubts that Pauls knowledge will be profitable to his team mates, and that his long and rich experience will help him to fight for top results in the MXGP class where he will occupy the solo role of Kawasaki factory rider.
Pauls will now represent Latvia for the sixth time in his career at the Motocross of Nations, while teammates Romain Febvre and Mathis Valin will enter this last famous race of the 2026 season a part of the French squad.

Pauls Jonass: “ Obviously I am very happy to continue with Kawasaki and the Kawasaki Racing Team for 2027! I’m looking forward to work on the project for another year and keep building with the team. This year we made a good step forward in terms of my feel with the bike and for the future I’m sure that we can make even bigger steps working in partnership with the Kawasaki factory.
It’s always nice to stay working with the same people and keep progressing, And it’s good to have a strong base as today the level in the MXGP class is so high. I sincerely appreciate the trust of Antti, Kimi and everyone involved for believing in me. Now we can focus on making another step forward together in 2027.”

Antti Pyrhonen, Team Manager, Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP
“We are delighted to continue our relationship with Pauls for the 2027 season and we firmly believe that the continuity that this offers will help him move to the next level in MXGP while delivering the opportunity to widen our testing and development program. When Kimi and I discussed this project at the outset we knew that it would not simply be about racing but also testing and development; something very familiar to Kimi in his days in the Formula 1 paddock. Pauls will not simply line up at the start gate next season but he will additionally help with product development for our SR variant of the KX450F as well as helping with aspects of the production machine that Kawasaki customers can buy. We will also draw on his considerable Kawasaki experience as part of the global Team Green family as a role model for aspiring Kawasaki riders. There’s a lot to do but Pauls has the attitude, skill and enthusiasm to make a success of his new role in 2027”.

Masanori Kinuhata, Marketing Dept. Senior Manager, Kawasaki Motors, Ltd.,
“Kawasaki is delighted that Pauls will continue with the Kawasaki Racing Team for 2027. While his role within Team Green will continue to evolve, we believe his best MXGP results are still ahead of him. In the racing environment, and across a wide range of testing scenarios we need a rider with not simply the highest skill level but also a rider who can feedback information and react well to subtle upgrades and changes to the KX package – Pauls has those attributes. At Kawasaki, we are famous for our long-standing Team Green programme – in fact we were among the first to create this aspiration environment whereby a rider can start on a youth training bike and move - in a staged way - all the way up to international level and, ultimately, MXGP. With KRT and Pauls at the pinnacle of Team Green in motocross, we have clear and positive targets for Kawasaki riders to look up to and progress toward inside the global Team Green motocross family”.

2026 ACERBIS BEST LAP WINNERS | HERLINGS AND S. COENEN

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 28 September 2026 – Infront Moto Racing is proud to continue its partnership with Acerbis for the Acerbis Best Lap Competition, a highlight of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship.

This season once again delivered unforgettable action across MXGP and MX2, with the Acerbis Best Lap awards shining a spotlight on the riders who combined speed, focus, and determination to clock the fastest laps of the year.

How does the competition work?

At the end of each Grand Prix, the rider who records the fastest lap in their respective class, MXGP and MX2, earns one point in the Acerbis Best Lap Competition. The rider with the most points at the end of the season takes home the Acerbis Best Lap Award, officially presented during the MXGP Awards ceremony.

Honda HRC Petronas’ Jeffrey Herlings backed up his 2026 MXGP World Championship with outright speed, securing the MXGP Acerbis Best Lap Award with 9 fastest laps across the 19-round season, almost half of all Grands Prix.

Taking both the MXGP World Championship and the Acerbis Best Lap Award in the same season underlines how complete Herlings’ 2026 campaign was, combining race-winning consistency with the ability to set the pace whenever it mattered.

Behind him, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen finished with 7 fastest laps, all of them in the first ten rounds, before Herlings took control and set the fastest lap at eight of the last nine Grands Prix. Kawasaki Racing Team’s Romain Febvre posted 2, while Honda HRC Petronas’ Tom Vialle claimed 1 at the season opener in Bariloche.

In MX2, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen delivered blistering pace all season long to secure the MX2 Acerbis Best Lap Award with 8 fastest laps, representing 42% of the season’s races. His win keeps the Acerbis Best Lap Award in the Coenen family for a third straight year, after his brother Lucas took it in MX2 in 2024 and in MXGP in 2025.

Just behind, Triumph Factory Racing Team’s Guillem Farres, the newly crowned MX2 World Champion, finished with 5, followed by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Simon Längenfelder with 3, Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Liam Everts with 2 and Triumph Factory Racing Team’s Camden McLellan with 1, which shows the tightness in the series this year.

Jeffrey Herlings and Sacha Coenen were honoured with their Acerbis Best Lap Awards during the 2026 MXGP Awards in Darwin, Australia on Sunday 20th September, held in the garden of the Mindil Casino Resort. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Coordinator Micol Muraglia collected the MX2 award on behalf of the absent Coenen.

The event was streamed live globally on MXGP-TV, YouTube, and Facebook, allowing fans worldwide to celebrate motocross’s fastest riders.

2026 FOX HOLESHOT WINNERS | TOM VIALLE AND SACHA COENEN

MONACO (Principality of Monaco) 28 September 2026 –  Infront Moto Racing was thrilled to continue the Fox Holeshot competition throughout the 2026 season of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The start of a race has become an important craft and skill for all motocross riders. All the advantage taken form the first corners can make a crucial difference by the chequered flag, as a clean start keeps a rider out of trouble and in control of the pace from the opening lap which, in 2026, Honda HRC Petronas’ Tom Vialle and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Sacha Coenen mastered better than anyone else in their respective class.

How does the competition work?

In every MXGP and MX2 Grand Prix, the rider who crosses the white line painted at the exit of the first corner claims the Fox Holeshot and earns one point in the special Holeshot classification. At the end of the season, the rider with the most Fox Holeshot points in both the MXGP and MX2 classes wins a fantastic prize!

This year, Tom Vialle claimed the Fox Holeshot Award in MXGP in his debut season in the premier class, making an immediate impact at the gate on his return to the FIM Motocross World Championship.

In the 2026 season, Vialle secured 12 Fox Holeshots out of 38 starts, accounting for 32% of the total, including both starts at the final round in Darwin. Following him were his 2026 World Champion teammate Honda HRC Petronas’ Jeffrey Herlings, who came in second with 9 Fox Holeshots, and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Lucas Coenen, who placed third with 7 Fox Holeshots.

Tom Vialle, Bob Buchanan, Micol Muraglia

In the MX2 category, Sacha Coenen claimed the Fox Holeshot Award once again, adding to the title he first won in 2024. Coenen was the quickest out of the gate all season, claiming 15 Fox Holeshots out of 38 starts, 39% of the total, including both starts at five different Grands Prix. Having also won the MX2 Acerbis Best Lap Award, he completes a 2026 double as the fastest rider off the line and around the lap.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Simon Längenfelder finished second with 9 Fox Holeshots, while Triumph Factory Racing Team’s Guillem Farres, the newly crowned MX2 World Champion, took third with 5.

Both Vialle and Coenen were presented with their Fox Holeshot Awards by Bob Buchanan during the 2026 MXGP Awards in Darwin, Australia on Sunday 20 September, held in the garden of the Mindil Casino Resort. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Coordinator Micol Muraglia collected the MX2 award on behalf of the absent Coenen. The ceremony was streamed live globally on MXGP’s Facebook and YouTube channels, as well as www.MXGP-TV.com where you can watch it in replay.

MXGP AND SEL EXTEND THEIR HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP UNTIL 2030

MONACO (Principality of Monaco), 23 September 2026 – Infront Moto Racing is pleased to announce the extension of its partnership with SEL – Sport & Events Logistics, Official Carrier and Travel Agency of the FIM Motocross World Championship, until the end of the 2030 season.

The agreement adds three more seasons to a collaboration that has now spanned over 25 years, making SEL one of the longest-standing partners in MXGP history. The announcement comes at the end of a 2026 season in which SEL moved the paddock across four continents, from the opening round in Bariloche, Argentina, through South Africa and China, to the season finale in Darwin, Australia.

As Official Carrier, SEL will continue to manage the logistics of all overseas MXGP events. This includes the transportation of motorcycles, supplies and equipment for teams and suppliers, as well as the technical equipment required for television production and timing services.

The SEL Travel department will continue as the Official Travel Agency of the championship, managing flights, accommodation and ground transportation for Infront Moto Racing and the paddock at every non-EU round. The overseas program will continue in 2027, with Bariloche, Argentina, Shanghai, China as well as Ziyang, China, Afyon, Turkiye and Darwin, Australia announced in next season’s MXGP Calendar as the overseas rounds.

All of these doesn’t stop with MXGP as SEL overseas all travelling logistic for the FIM Snowcros World Championship with the SNX of Turkiye!

David Luongo, Infront Moto Racing CEO: "Every overseas Grand Prix starts long before the gate drops, and for more than two decades SEL has made sure the whole paddock arrives ready to race. Extending our partnership until 2030 gives us the stability we need as MXGP continues to grow around the world."

Pier Carlo Bottero, SEL CEO: "We are proud to continue this journey with MXGP until 2030. Over 25 years, we have grown together with the world championship, developing an in-depth understanding of its logistics and travel needs. This knowledge is our competitive advantage: we know how to move people and vehicles in complex scenarios, and we will continue to do so in the years to come, wherever the championship takes us."

The evening began with a red carpet that shone a spotlight on the riders, dignitaries and key figures of the paddock, before guests gathered for the ceremony hosted by MXGP-TV Commentator Paul Malin and TV Presenter Lisa Leyland, streamed live to fans around the world on MXGP-TV, YouTube and Facebook.

MC Amanda Jarrett opened the evening with an Acknowledgment of Country, paying respect to the Larrakia people as the Traditional Custodians of the land, before welcoming the Australian dignitaries who joined the global motocross family in the Northern Territory. Called up on stage following the introduction was the Honourable Marie-Clare Boothby, Minister for Major Events, Tourism and Hospitality, who thanked Infront Moto Racing, the FIM and Sitzler for putting their faith in the Northern Territory to host MXGP for a second time. Recalling how last year's event was rained out on the final day, the Minister said this year had delivered even more spectacular racing, and she thanked every rider, volunteer and team member who had travelled to Darwin, including those who spent time signing autographs for local children at the waterfront. She encouraged the paddock to discover the rest of the Territory, from the waterfalls of Litchfield to a close encounter with the crocodiles in the city, and told the riders that whether or not they left with silverware, they should be proud of the spectacle they had put on in Darwin, adding that she was already looking forward to next year.

David Luongo, President and CEO of Infront Moto Racing then took the stage and dedicated his first words to the people of the Northern Territory, explaining that from the very first meeting it was clear the MXGP of Australia would be a great event and a great project. He looked back on a season of 19 Grands Prix across five continents that started in Argentina and finished on the other side of the world in Darwin, with milestones along the way that are another testament to the popularity of MXGP, blending modern venues such as last week's Shanghai circuit with classic tracks like Foxhills that returned to the calendar. Luongo thanked the FIM for decades of collaboration, the teams and the manufacturers, including new brands who may join from China next year, before turning to the riders, the people who bring the emotion to the sport, and to everyone in the paddock who spends nine months a year away from home for a sport that is much more than a sport to them. Recalling that Infront has now promoted the championship for 30 years, he congratulated the new champions and said he hoped next season would be even more exciting.

FIM CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela then thanked Infront Moto Racing for putting together such a calendar and described 2026 as an intense season, praising the organizers for events ranging from the state of the art new venue in China to demanding, technical classic tracks where riders have to give everything they have. He paid tribute to the riders who could not make it to the end of the season, and thanked the officials of Motorcycling Australia and the hundreds of volunteers for their outstanding work across the weekend, as well as the media and his own FIM team. He closed by hinting that more is in store for next year, with a smile to remind everyone that Spain had been crowned twice this season.

The FIM Junior Motocross World Champions, crowned earlier in the summer in the Czech Republic, were also recognised: Lucas Bos of France won the 65cc class with a 1-1, Australia's Blake Bohannon took the 85cc title with another double race victory, and Ricardo Bauer was crowned 125cc Junior World Champion.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Coordinator Micol Muraglia collected both awards on behalf of the absent Coenen.

One of the most emotional moments of the evening came with the MXGP Lifetime Achievement Award, presented to two familiar faces of the paddock. Andy Summers, FIM Technical Director, celebrated his 400th Grand Prix this weekend in Darwin.

Off the track, the organizer awards recognised the best events of the year. The Best Promotion Award went to the Monster Energy MXGP of Great Britain at Foxhills, back on the calendar in 2026, with the hosts congratulating Paul Cook, Mark Chamberlain and their team for an outstanding event. The Best Organizer Award went to the MXGP of the Netherlands in Arnhem, collected by Dik and Wiljan van Wikselaar. A special award for Best MXGP Collaboration went to the MXGP of Australia presented by Sitzler, collected by Aimee Luxton, Executive Director of Tourism and Events NT, in recognition of the strong partnership between the Northern Territory and Infront Moto Racing.
