Alessio Sasso and Daniel Volovich join KTM Diga Junior Racing

KTM Diga Junior Racing is proud to announce two ambitious new riders. American Alessio Sasso (18) and Belarusian Daniel Volovich (16) will enter the EMX250 and EMX125 respectively.

Never before has the composition of the Belgian EMX squad been so diverse. Sasso and Volovich will complete as part of a five-man line-up, made up of riders from four different countries.

Sasso, two-time EMX150 champion Emil Weckman and Emil Jönrup are set to contest the EMX250 championship, the development class of the FIM MX2 World Championship. Australia’s Tahlia "TJ" O' Hare starts her second season in the WMX while Daniel Volovich defends the KTM Diga Junior Racing colours in the EMX125.

Although he only started motocross at the age of thirteen, Sasso has steadily risen through the ranks to become a solid force in the super competitive Californian youth amateur scene. At home Alessio trained with coaches like Ryan Hughes and Yannig Kervella. Sasso placed 9th overall in this year's Monster Energy Amateur Supercross championship, having previously finished 6th in 2018.

After a year of bad luck with injuries Daniel Volovich wants to take another step forward in the highly contested EMX125. The multiple Belarusian champion won the qualification series of the EMX85 northeast European championship two years ago. In 2017 he finished 15th in the FIM 85cc Junior World Championship.

Alessio Sasso: "I'm really looking forward to riding for KTM Diga Junior Racing. Having a team like this supporting me is going to help benefit my future as a rider! Also the training on heavy, rough tracks like Lommel will certainly allow me to become stronger. This will be my first time racing in Europe, but I believe that making the move will be a good one!"

Daniel Volovich: "I am very happy that I am going to race for a team with good people and a good structure. It's not my first year in Belgium, so I'll adapt quickly. My first two years in the 125cc didn't deliver what I expected. In 2020 I want to go for the title in the Dutch Masters of Motocross championship and podium finishes in the EMX125."

Dirk Saelen, team manager KTM Diga Junior Racing: "Both Daniel (Volovich) and Alessio (Sasso) are eager to work and learn. This is absolutely crucial. As a team, we are going to do everything we can to support them as professionally as possible. For both riders, however, it's difficult at the moment to assess what realistic goals are for them. On the other hand, that makes it exciting for everyone!"

MX2 WORLD CHAMPION PRADO UNDERGOES SURGERY TO FIX LEFT FEMUR BREAK

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jorge Prado is recovering from an operation in Italy to fix a fracture to his left femur. The eighteen-year-old suffered the injury while training at the Malagrotta circuit near Rome yesterday (Thursday).

Prado, who still step into the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2020 after claiming the last two MX2 titles, was circulating his usual practice facility with teammate Tony Cairoli and nearing the end of a training moto when he lost control approaching a jump.

The Spaniard was transferred to the European Hospital where he immediately underwent a corrective procedure performed by Dr Massimiliano Nannerini to insert a pin into the femur bone. He is expected to leave the ward in two days if initial signs are positive and start rehabilitation to make his MXGP debut as early as possible next season.

Claudio De Carli, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: “This is bad news and we feel so sorry for Jorge. Things had been going well and he was just two laps away from the end of the training session. It was raining at Malagrotta and you need to have a good control of the bike to make one of the biggest jumps on the track. Jorge could not grip the plastic well, his foot slipped off the footpeg on the ramp and he crashed over the jump. He had surgery yesterday evening by a fantastic doctor that we know and trust and now we have to wait a few days to see if everything is correct before he can leave the hospital. It is a setback to our preparation but the important thing is that Jorge heals well and then can think again about his first season in the MXGP class.”

Artem Guryev joins JM Honda Racing

JM Honda Racing is pleased to announce that Artem Guryev will complete its 2020 MXGP lineup. The Russian prospect will campaign a CRF450R alongside former MX2 top riders Benoit Paturel and Julien Lieber.

Guryev, 23, competed in his first MXGP season this year with his own AG Racing team. In what’s been a challenging campaign at the highest level of the sport Artem gained valuable experience and finished 21st in Turkey, his best GP of the season. Previously the rider from Belgorod took part in the MX2 World championship, the EMX250 series and he represented Russia in the Motocross of European Nations.

Artem will concentrate on the European rounds of the MXGP world championship alongside international races to improve his speed.

Artem Guryev: “To compete in the MXGP series is a huge step. The level is crazy high with 20 riders who’ve all been on a GP podium before! It’s a great opportunity to take on this challenge with an experienced team like JM Honda Racing where I will be training with strong team mates. I’m looking forward to a productive 2020 season.”

Jacky Martens: “The goals and obstacles for Artem are very different from Julien (Lieber) and Benoit (Paturel). However our motivation as a team is the same to help him become the best rider he can be. I believe Artem has a solid potential to make good steps forward with our support. It’s going to be exciting to be part of his progress!”
