Superb performances for Desprey & Maddii in Uddevalla

UDDEVALLA (Sweden), 05 July 2015 – The rocky hillside of Uddevalla worked as a grandstand to the thousands of fans who came out to watch the fourth and sixth rounds of the European Championships EMX250 and EMX300 where Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Maxime Desprey and Italian Marco Maddii uncorked yet another bottle of bubbles on the top step of the podium.

The premier European Championship class, EMX250, got off to a mega start today in the heat of Uddevalla as three of the hottest championship contenders, Bud Racing Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Maxime Desprey, Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus and J-Tech Honda’s Nick Kouwenberg led the way around turn one.

Desprey, a former MX2 rider, was the fastest off the gate and led every lap for his fifth race victory of the season. Although Desprey never lost the lead, it wasn’t an easy race win as he was pushed all the way to the finish by the red plate holder Kouwenberg.

Déjà vu struck yesterdays race one winner Graulus who crashed out of second and couldn’t restart his bike. Meanwhile, last years FIM Junior Motocross 125cc and European Championship EMX125 Champion Brian Hsu is really starting to come to grips with the 250. The young German was quick to move into third where he remained for the rest of the race.

The former championship leader Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Adam Sterry got off to an average start which left him picking off riders for the first couple of laps. The Brit managed to get all the way to a lonely fourth. Team Yamaha Ausio Yamalube’s Valentin Ander also put in a solid performance to round out the top five.

At the end of the weekend Bud Racing Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Maxime Desprey landed on the top of the box for the third time this year and is now within striking distance of the red plate while Honda J-Tech’s Nick Kouwenberg stood on the second to maintain his championship lead. Young German, Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu wrapped up third for his second consecutive podium finish of the season.

Finding traction on a bike that produces 300cc of pure two-stroke power on a hard packed gravel track wouldn’t have been the easiest of tasks, but for the riders that lined up today for the fourth round of the European Championship EMX300 that was the challenge, a challenge that was owned by Italian KTM rider Marco Maddii who won both races this weekend for his second consecutive overall victory.

In race one yesterday Maddii was gifted the win from the championship red plate holder Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna’s Yentel Martens who led the entire race but crashed with one corner to go and broke his wrist. Martens didn’t line up today but has said he will try and be back for the next round in Loket, Czech Republic.

With Martens out, the race was Maddii’s to win although it didn’t come easy for the Italian. GPR Promo MX Team’s Dietger Damiens took the holeshot followed by Sweden’s own Jimmie Allen, Team HNHF Racing’s Patrick Vos and British rider Matthew Moffat.

Damiens appeared to have a solid grip on the race up until the final three laps when yesterdays race one winner Maddii pinned it up the inside of him heading into the corner before the finish jump. With Maddii taking over the lead, Damiens then found himself in a final lap battle with Great Britain’s Matthew Moffat who had diced through the pack to take second a few turns from home.

Damiens was forced back to third while Allen, the local kid who had a ton of support from the thousands of fans, had to settle for fourth after his epic battle for second with the EMX round winner Marco Maddii earlier in the race. South African Damon Strydom rounded out the top five.

After a relentless weekend where the riders fought like cats and dogs, Marco Maddii topped the podium ahead of Dietger Damiens who took his first podium finish of the season in second while Jimmie Allen put a smile on the faces of the Swedish fans in third.

Clarke carves up in Teutschenthal

TEUTSCHENTHAL (Germany), 21 June 2015 - Temperatures were almost perfect here at the classic Talkessel circuit, where round five of the European Championship EMX250 took place. To the delight of the German crowd that flooded the awesome venue here in Teutschenthal, Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu stood on the podium for the first time in his career while Apico Husqvarna’s Steven Clarke, the defending EMX250 champion, also hit a career milestone with his first ever overall victory.

A few spanners were thrown in the works today with the drop of the gate. Turn one was chaotic with a bunch of riders going down in a heap, two of which are some of the hottest championship contenders Mafi Yamaha MX Team’s Alvin Ostlund and HONDA JTech’s Nick Kouwenberg. One quarter of a lap later, yesterday’s race winner Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus stalled his bike in an awkward place and was planted by another rider, which left him out of the points at the end of the moto.

Following all that carnage, Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Adam Sterry put an epic pass on the home soil hero Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Brian Hsu and led the opening laps before taking on a wire fence, which captured him and put him out of the race.

Hsu was gifted the lead again but had his work cut out for him as the defending EMX250 champion Steven Clarke was hungry for his first race and overall victory. While the fans went wild for the young Suzuki rider, Clarke caused a bit of an upset when he scrubbed past him in epic style and ran away for the win.

Meanwhile the early championship leader Bud Racing Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Maxime Desprey used the experience he gained racing MX2 over the last two years to dice his way through the field for third.

A couple of new names were buzzing with their top five finishes too. Swiss rider Andy Baumgartner charged hard for fourth, narrowly holding off South African Nicholas Adams who also put in a solid performance for fifth.

The EMX250 is renowned for its depth of talent and totally unpredictable results. With combination of results from both races, Clarke, who has had a lot of bad luck this season finally got the monkey off of his back with a round win ahead of Desprey and Hsu. As for the championship, Sterry’s tangle with fence lost him the red plate. The Brit is now in fourth, ten points off of the new championship leader HONDA Jtech’s Nick Kouwenberg who was the most impressive performer today with his insane charge from dead last to seventh.

Sterry & Renaux rack the win in Great Britain

MATTERLEY BASIN (Great Britain), 24 May 2015 – A good crowd showed up today at the fan friendly and super flowing track of Matterley Basin, England to watch MXGP of Great Britain and the fourth rounds of the European Championship EMX250 and EMX125 where Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Adam Sterry and Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Maxime Renaux took their second EMX Championship round victories of the season.

Race 1

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s David Herbreteau narrowly took the holeshot ahead of Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Adam Sterry and Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki’s Darian Sanayei. Herbreteau had the early race advantage but was soon dropped back to third when Sterry and Sanayei passed him.

Around mid-race, the defending EMX250 champion who had a rough start to the season with all of his bikes being stolen and some other issues such as mechanical problems during the races he was able to compete in, came out charged up and quickly fought his way forward from around tenth to put a solid pass over a triple jump on Herbreteau for third.

Coming into the closing stages it was a battle of the English speakers as Sterry from England and Sanayei from the United States went head to head for the opening moto victory. After sending the crowd into frenzy, Sanayei hooked it up a gear and took over the lead. Sterry did his best to challenge the American for the win, but ended up having to settle for second ahead of fellow Brit Steven Clarke. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Davy Pootjes put in a solid performance for fourth while the holeshotter David Herbreteau rounded out the top five.

Race 2

Thick cloud cover, four MXGP and MX2 races, and constant drizzle made the conditions of race two vastly different for the second race of the EMX250 round of Great Britain. Soaking up the challenge, five of the hottest championship threats J-Tech Honda’s Nick Kouwenberg, Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus, Bud Racing Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Maxime Desprey, Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Adam Sterry and Yamaha Ausio Yamalube’s Ander Valentin filled out the top five.

Despite being labeled a ‘sand rider’ Kouwenberg took the early advantage before being passed by Graulus who took the lead and controlled the rest of the race. Kouwenberg managed to ride unchallenged for the majority of the race before fading in the latter stages. With Kouwenberg fading back Desprey was quick to snatch second place with Sterry and Valentin following a few laps later.

With three laps to go, the defending EMX250 champion Steven Clarke emerged and started beating on the doors of Kouwenberg, Valentin and Sterry. After passing Kouwenberg, Clarke flew through the whoops to impressively take over fourth and challenge fellow Brit, Sterry, for third.

The two lap board encouraged Sterry, Clarke and Valentin to start packing punches for the last podium position, but with the waving of the checkered flag it was Damon Graulus who took his first race win of the season ahead of Maxime Desprey. Adam Sterry managed to hold on tight for third while Steven Clarke and Ander Valentin rounded out the top five.

With the combination of both race results, it was a great day in the office for the Brits Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Adam Sterry, who took his second EMX250 overall ahead of the defending EMX250 champion Steven Clarke. Race two winner Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus rounded off the podium.

It was another ripper of a start for the little Spanish power ranger KTM Factory Junior’s Jorge Prado who pinned it around turn one ahead of Davide Cislaghi and his KTM Factory Juniors teammate Conrad Mewse. Keeping the fans happy, Mewse didn’t waste anytime on storming forward to pass Prado on lap three and run away for his first EMX125 race victory of the season.

Prado was comfortable in second for most of the race before engaging in a killer battle with his other KTM Factory Juniors teammate Josiah Natzke. Within half a lap, the New Zealander Natzke stormed up the inside of the EMX125 red plate holder Prado and pulled a gap for second. Prado was thrown off his rhythm and on the same lap was pushed back to fourth with yesterdays race one winner Kemea Yamaha Yamalube Maxime Renaux throwing down a come from behind story to take over third.

As the race wound up, Mewse took a solid race win ahead of Natzke and Renaux. While Prado was passed on the last second by fellow Spaniard Ruben Fernandez Garcia meaning he would only finish fifth.

Unfortunately the local kid Conrad Mewse was stripped of his first victory when he received a ten-place penalty for jumping on a yellow flag. This gave the overall victory to the race one winner Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Maxime Renaux leaving the KTM Factory Juniors duo of Josiah Natzke and Jorge Prado who rounded out the top three respectively.
