HSF Logistics Motorsport Team announces line up for 2016

The HSF Logistics Motorsport Team is proud to announce her line up for the 2016 season. The team will start in the world championship MX2 with Brian Bogers, Calvin Vlaanderen and Roberts Justs.

The team has signed multiple year deals with Brian Bogers and Calvin Vlaanderen and Roberts has a one year contract for 2016. Besides the FIM Motocross World Championship races, the team will also race the complete Dutch Open Championship MX2.

This year the riders had a few set backs due to injuries but under the guidance of two time world champion John van den Berk they have improved themselves a lot. Also for next year the riders will train with John which will start with a wintercamp in Malaga, Spain.

Besides the three Grand Prix riders, the team has also signed agreements with Max Engelen and Raivo Dankers. Max will race the complete European MX2 Series and Raivo will move up from the 85 class to the EMX125 class. For the European and World Champion 85 from this year, 2016 will be a learning year!

Team manager Martin van Genderen: ’We are very happy that we can continue working with the same riders as this year. All riders have worked together as a team this year and this created a good atmosphere. All riders have showed good things this year but we hope that they can improve themselves a little bit this winter so they are able to ride inside of the top ten. We also keep working with Max Engelen and Raivo Dankers. Both riders are still very young and with the good support and the professional working ethic from our team we think they can improve themselves a lot’.

The team will start with their preparations for the 2016 season soon and the first Grand Prix will be held in Qatar on the 27th of February.

Suzuki commits to strong policy for MX2 & EMX250 riders in 2016

Suzuki World MXGP Grand Prix teams’ renewed structure and management changes have led to a continued and elevated priority towards developing Suzuki’s next off-road racing talent. For 2016 the Suzuki Europe MXGP crew will again count on the burgeoning skills and promise of Jeremy Seewer, Brian Hsu and Bas Vaessen; the latter recently signing a two year agreement to steer the RM-Z250 and represent the crew in the popular EMX250 European Championship, widely regarded as the final stepping stone to the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Work has already begun on the new RM-Z250L6 with testing and shakedown ‘motos’ in the hands of Seewer who will spearhead Suzuki’s presence in the MX2 class of the 2016 Grand Prix campaign. Seewer, a Suzuki stalwart at the age of 21, will enter his third term at the highest level and after securing 10th and fifth positions in 2014 and 2015. The Swiss toasted his first podium finishes in 2015 (Argentina, Italy and Sweden) and was in contention for a top-three championship result entering the manic and exciting final moments of the season. Seewer has progressed with his pace in the sand and has also become a fitter and more ‘complete’ competitor in 2015. There are high hopes for yet more silverware in the 19-round calendar to come.

Hsu made his Grand Prix debut in August at the Lombardia round at Mantova and immediately caught the eye with speed that elevated him into the top 10. After winning European and World Championships on his RM125 in 2014 Hsu jumped on the RM-Z250 in 2015 and celebrated two EMX250 podiums (Germany and Sweden) before tasting an impressive moto victory in Latvia. Diminutive but strong and stylish on the bike, Hsu has been groomed by Suzuki for the last half a decade and now is prepped for his first year as part of the MX2 field. The teenager is still in full-time education thus he is provisionally scheduled to kick off his Grand Prix year from round six and the first European meeting on the ’16 slate.

Vaessen showed exciting potential in his first year as a Pro and competing on the European stage. The 17 year old needed to build speed and confidence as well as recover from injury but his capability to challenge for podium results in the sand was undoubted, as proved by his seventh place overall at round two at Valkenswaard and thrilling charge to the front at a wet Kegums in Latvia for the seventh fixture of nine in EMX250. “I’m super-excited about next year,” the Dutchman said. “The team is changing and also the bike and there is a lot to look forward to.”

Suzuki has tied Vaessen to an agreement until the end of 2017 and should see him eventually ready for Grand Prix action. The ‘#98’ actually made his first GP appearance at the 2015 season-closer at Glen Helen in the United States and came away with a clutch of points. “I’m super-stoked that the whole team has the confidence to give me two more years and the space to develop my riding and racing,” he added.

Suzuki announced a host of new features on the 2016 RM-Z250 back in June, many of which have evolved from the machines raced in Grand Prix competition. Details such as the Suzuki Holeshot Assistance Control and modifications to the engine (more than 80 internal part have been redesigned and revised) for a wider range of power delivery, reduced engine braking, improved starting and increased durability and reliability, while handling is improved and overall weight reduced. Items such as a new KYB rear shock, frame, clutch cover, front brake calliper and Dunlop tyres only increase the potency of Suzuki’s MX2 and European Championship-derived motorcycle.

Gold plate glory for Kouwenberg

The European Championship EMX250 is the world’s premier amateur motocross class. Every year more than 100 riders enter at most of the rounds, but only 40 qualify and of those 40 almost anyone could be inside the top five.

In a class that is bursting at the seams with talent, there is never one rider more dominant than another, which strengthens the old saying ‘consistency wins championships’. This year the most consistent rider was J-Tech Honda’s Nick Kouwenberg.

Honda Jtech Team Announces 2016 EMX250 riders

Honda Motor Europe and Honda Jtech Team are very pleased to announce the three riders who will compete in the European EMX250 class with the Honda CRF250R in 2016: South African Nicholas Adams (18), Italian Filippo Zonta (17), and the current champion Nick Kouwenberg (24).

Davy Dousselaere, Honda Motor Europe Off-Road Manager

“We're very happy to reveal, next to the already announced strong MX2 line-up, a very promising EMX250 team for 2016! EMX250 is again an important class for Honda Motor Europe in the 2016 season; we have seen a growing popularity in the championship this year with around 100 entries for the first round in Arco and also with more races on the calendar.

“This year we have chosen two young, talented riders, with Nick Adams and Filippo Zonta. Nick Adams is maybe not so well known yet, but he could be a surprise for next year. He was immediately very fast on the Honda Jtech CRF250R at the first test and he has really impressed us. Filippo Zonta has already won some motocross and supercross championships in Italy, so he knows what it takes to win. His first year in the 250 class will be a learning and development year, but we expect him to progress steadily throughout the year. We are also proud to have the European Champion Nick Kouwenberg defending his title with us and we are very thankful that ‘Kouwy’ brought the European title back to Honda, after Gautier Paulin won it in 2007. This year I don’t think we have seen his full potential and we are confident that he will be winning races next year.”

Gabriele Rinaldi, Team Manager

“We are very satisfied to have signed two talented young riders, Nicholas Adams and Filippo Zonta. We believe they have great potential and we will be working with them to further their skills and hopefully achieve some good results.

“I am also pleased to have Nick Kouwenberg back with us to defend his title. He is a very strong and technically impressive rider, I think we still have more to come from him and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do next year.”

Iller Aldini, Technical Director

“I’m happy with the choice made for 2016. We confirmed Nick Kouwenberg with the hope that he can repeat the results of the last season. We have also decided to focus on two young talents, Nick Adams and Filippo Zonta, because I think that they can get good results and have a good future ahead of them given the young age.”

The South African Adams earned himself 16th overall in the EMX125 championship at only 15-years-old, the year after he also had some strong results in the championship. In 2014 Nicholas was injured at the beginning of the season and could only ride in the final round of the EMX125, where he achieved a seventh place finish. In 2015 he rode his first year of EMX250, with his best race result at the German round where he placed fifth; he finished 19th in the overall standings.

The young Italian Zonta rode his first small bike at the age of three. In 2010, he won his first National title and he scored a second place with the Italian team at the Junior World Championship. In the following years Filippo has also competed in many Supercross races and, from 2012, has won the title of the Internazionali d’Italia Supercross three years in a row.

We have already known Kouwenberg from this year when he brought Honda Europe and us to the highest step of the podium, winning the European EMX250 title. Next year he wants to defend his title and show just how talented and fast he can be.

Graulus & Geerts clinch the European Championships grand finale

ASSEN (The Netherlands), 30 August 2015 – The final rounds of the world’s number one amateur motocross series, the European Championships EMX250 and EMX125, took place amidst the epicness of the MXGP of The Netherlands this weekend. Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus and Sahkar KTM Racing’s Jago Geerts won the battle on the amazing circuit, which was remarkably built in five days on the infield of the iconic Dutch TT circuit in Assen but it was J-Tech Honda’s Nick Kouwenberg and KTM Factory Juniors Jorge Prado who won the war with their clinching of the gold plates.

Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus has had a roller coaster of a season but couldn’t have asked for a better end to it with his total domination in the sand of Assen. In race one yesterday the Belgian got off to a top five start and moved quickly into the lead to win by 10 seconds over Bud Racing Kawasaki Monster Energy’s Maxime Desprey. While that went relatively easy for him, today was a different story as he was dozy on the gate and got off to a terrible start. Despite the challenge, the talented Yamaha rider put his head down and took no prisoners on his charge from outside the top twenty to pass four riders in the last two laps for his second race victory of the weekend and his second overall victory of the season.

Being passed with a handful of laps to go was devastating for Holland’s own Frederik Van Der Vlist who controlled every lap of the race almost effortlessly only to be shoved back to second place at the checkers while Desprey, someone who is more of a clay specialist, rode to an impressive third.

It was the story of his season for Wilvo Forkrent’s Adam Sterry who made quite a few mistakes throughout race two and dropped from second back to fifth when the EMX250 round of Belgium winner HNHF Racing’s Lars Van Berkel passed him with a few laps to go for fourth.

With Belgium being the neighbouring country of The Netherlands Damon Graulus had the fans going absolutely mental in honor of his double race win for the overall here in Assen while Maxime Desprey and Frederik Van Der Vlist rounded off the podium in that order.

As for the Dutch fans, J-Tech Honda’s Nick Kouwenberg gave them something to cheer for since he was crowned the 2015 European EMX250 Champion. Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Damon Graulus’ amazing ride this weekend made him the vice EMX250 champion with Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Adam Sterry retaining his status as the bronze medalist.

Yesterday in Race one KTM Factory Junior’s Jorge Prado put in an awe-inspiring performance for the win, which gave him a decent amount of breathing space on his closest rival in the championship, his KTM Factory Juniors teammate Josiah Natzke.

While yesterday it was all about Prado, today the powerhouse of the vicious sand in Assen was the third of the KTM Factory Juniors trio Conrad Mewse. Starts are Davide Cislaghi’s forte, which he authenticated with yet another holeshot but was immediately passed by Norway’s Kevin Horgmo, who may have over exerted himself in the first couple of laps as he eventually dropped back to seventh.

Mewse wasted no time in taking charge of the race and ended up blitzing everyone for his first race win of the season. Behind the flying Brit was Sahkar KTM Racing’s young talent Jago Geerts, who has proven in over the last few rounds he is a rider to watch in the future. Geerts started the season injured but upon his return to 100% health and fitness has climbed the ranks and nailed two impressive second place finishes this weekend to win the EMX125 round of The Netherlands.

Coming home in third was Diga Racing’s Miro Sihvonen who had his sand skills on full display while EMX125 round of Belgium winner Cyril Genot came home in fourth with the local HSF Logistics Motorsport Team’s Noud Van Krij rounding out the top five.

Topping the box this weekend was Sahkar KTM Racing’s young Belgian talent Jago Geerts, who took his first ever European Championship overall victory and stood on the podium for the second time this season. KTM Factory Junior’s Conrad Mewse owned it here today in race two to finish second overall while KTM Factory Junior’s race one winner Jorge Prado rounded off the podium.

After an epic season long duel, KTM Factory Juniors Jorge Prado was crowned European Champion in the EMX125 ahead of teammate Josiah Natzke and the FIM Junior 125cc World Champion Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Maxime Renaux.
