New Zealand's next big thing

It has been a while since the European Championship has had a Kiwi, as in New Zealander, not the fruit, ripping around in contention for one of the most important titles any aspiring motocross world champion could hope to claim.

Allow us to introduce Josiah Natzke. Born and bred in Hamilton, New Zealand, he recently signed his name on the dotted line of a contract most kids his age can only dream of. At only fifteen years old Josiah signed a five-year deal with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team to race the world’s number one amateur series, the European Championship.

MXGP Mag caught up with the kiwi kid, see what he has to say by clicking HERE.

Herbreteau signs with Monster Energy Kawasaki and VHR

Former French champion in the 65, 85 and 125 classes, David Herbreteau is one of the most talented French kids. Winner this season twice in the European EMX125 series, the 17 years old rider from Vendee was dominant in the French Junior series, claiming his third national title after the 65cc in 2009 and the 85cc in 2012. Fourth of the European 125 championship, David will move in the EMX250 class on a Kawasaki KXF250. “I got pretty good results last season, even if I missed some consistency to get a final podium in the EMX125, and I’m pleased to sign with Kawasaki for the next three seasons. I’ve already been testing the KXF250, and I feel comfortable on this bike; I know that I have a lot of work to be competitive in the EMX250, but that’s not a real problem. I already changed my riding style as you don’t need to be more aggressive with a four stroke, and since several weeks now I’m working with a physical trainer” explained David who turned seventeen in December. 2014 will be a learning year for David, who will also enter the French series. “The French Elite series is also part of my program, to get more experience and exposure. It’s a good program, and normally I will also race the French GP,” added David who gets the support of Jean Jacques Luisetti.
“David will race this season with team VHR, but we’ll provide him a complete support. He will have the same material as our factory riders, and the plan is to have him in the MX2 team in the future. We have a three years deal with him, and depending of his results he could join the MX2 team in 2016. I would like to thank all the sponsors helping our team since many years” explained Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team owner, who wants to prepare the future and will line up three factory riders (Jordi Tixier, Dylan Ferrandis and Thomas Covington) and one support rider (David) next season. Bruno Verhaeghe, owner of team VHR, is delighted to welcome David in his squad. “We are very pleased to welcome David, who will race the EMX250 series alongside Alexis Verhaeghe and Lucas Imbert, and I’d like to thanks Jean Jacques Luisetti, Gerard Valat and Kawasaki Europe who all joined forces to make this deal possible.” The first race of David and his new team mates will be the International Motocross of Valence, on February 14th and 15th.

The FIM Motocross World Championship and Monster Energy extend exclusive energy drink sponsorship

FUNCHAL (Portugal), 23 October 2014 - Youthstream is pleased to announce that the relationship between Monster Energy and the FIM Motocross World Championship has been extended for a multiyear term.

The agreement confirms Monster Energy as the exclusive energy drink partner of the series and sets again Monster Energy as title sponsor of the FIM Motocross of Nations and the MXGP of USA.

Monster Energy will also be the exclusive energy drink sponsor of the European EMX125 and the EMX250 Championships.

The agreement includes, as well, a series of initiatives to further strengthen and elevate the leading role of the FIM Motocross World Championships in the off-road universe.

Mr Mitch Covington, Monster Energy Vice-President, said: “Monster Energy is, once again, proud to be partnering with Youthstream and the FIM Motocross World Championship. The fact that the series now travels to 16 nations and 4 continents truly makes it a world championship. The competition also comes from all over the globe and has reached a world class level creating the planet’s elite motocross championship. Motocross racing is in our DNA at Monster Energy, so it is a perfect fit for our brand and a great stage for our world-class racers and famous Monster Girls to meet the passionate motocross fans. 2015 will be especially exciting to see two active legends of the sport, Ryan Villopoto and Antonio Cairoli, come together to fight for national and global pride – And lets not forget the other championship level riders that are very capable of spoiling it for them both. Coupled with our sponsorship of the Monster Energy Supercross Series in the US, and the MXGP’s, we feel we have a nice presence around the world of motocross.”

‘YS is delighted that Monster Energy continues with MXGP, it’s proof that our vision, investments and work is going in the right direction.’ Mr Giuseppe Luongo, President of Youthstream said. ‘We thank Monster Energy for the trust they have given us, Monster Energy is the right partner for MXGP as they are very active and extremely passionate for Motocross.  Over the last 4 years we have made a great road together achieving many goals and the future will be even better continuing with our task of bringing Motocross into all the homes around the world.’
