HSF Logistics Motorsport Team enters 2017 season

The HSF Logistics Motorsport Team has grown rapidly since its inception in 2012. In the intervening period, the team has built a solid base with invaluable experience underpinning it, and is well-placed to contend for top placements in the 2017 world championships. The strong base will enable all of those involved with the team, both from the inside and externally, to yield their professional contributions to enable the riders to deliver optimal results.

In 2017, the team will consist of the following riders in the MX2 world championships:
Brian Bogers (NL, 6th in the 2016 MX2 world championships), Calvin Vlaanderen SA/NL, 12th in the 2016 MX2 world championships), Davy Pootjes (NL, 22nd in the 2016 MX2 world championships).

The goal for 2017 is for all three the riders to get constant top 10 results, and aim for podium spots. They will be ably assisted by mechanics Noud Aerts, Uldis Blumbergs and Martijn Vermeulen and technical manager Frank Grolleman. Nick Van Gemert will be the fitness coach and Augusts Justs will be the riding coach. They will work in close conjunction with the Sports medical Centre at Papendal to ensure the best possible conditioning.

Besides participation in the MX2 world championships, the team will also have representation in the European Championship series. Raivo Dankers (NL) and Kristians Freimanis (LAT) will participate in the hotly-contested 125cc series.

The HSF Logistics Motorsport team is offering these two talented riders the opportunity of utilizing the team's professional structure to build up to the top level of motocross racing.

John Cuppen will participate in the EMX300 European Championship class. John has clinched several IMBA titles in the past, and after a year's lay-off, will go for top results again.

The team management has undergone some change. Joep Teunesen will be responsible for day-to-day guidance as team manager, supported by Frank Grolleman the technical manager. Martin van Genderen will remain close to the team as advisor and will guide the European Championship riders.

FMF: THE FLYING MACHINE FACTORY

Look around any motocross paddock anywhere in the world and you will see a number of brands that stand out above all others, and when it comes to exhaust pipes the FMF logo is one that is instantly recognisable and one that has stood the test of time and continues to flourish today. We caught up with Donny Emler Jr. FMF’s Marketing Director who gave us a brief overview of the journey so far.

FMF – Flying Machine Factory – was set up in 1973 by a youthful and exuberant twenty-two year old by the name of Donny Emler, a typical Southern California native who like everybody else in the seventies found the urge to ride and race dirt bikes simply irresistible. This bug meant that he and his riding buddies would be out racing three, sometimes four days a week, sometimes at night but mostly at the weekends all in the name of having a blast. But Donny wasn’t content in just riding, and before long he was searching for that little bit extra, to get the best out of his bikes, and as it turned out, everyone else’s, as ‘L’il D’ Donny Jr. explains:

‘In the ‘70’s So Cal had a lot of tracks and they would race all through the week.  Nights, weekends, it was all about dirt bikes at the time. As dad was working on his own bike and developing engines and exhausts to make them faster, he built a name for himself around the tracks and the So Cal area. ‘Uncle Donnie’ as they referred to him became known as building the best bikes, which started attracting up and coming pro’s like Marty Smith, Danny LaPorte and Warren Reid. After striking so much branding he decided to stop racing and focus on building a name and product to take to market. The Honda Elsinore really helped launch FMF Racing.’

RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACING EXPECTS HERLINGS & JONASS TO BE FIT FOR QATAR SEASON OPENER

Jeffrey Herlings was injured in a crash last week. Tests revealed that he had a fractured fourth metacarpus, one of the five bones between the wrist and the fingers. He had successful surgery on Monday morning in Belgium and will wear a protective cast for one week. Doctors have told Herlings that he should be fit to ride, free of pain, at the opening round of the world championship. The Dutch rider, a three times world champion in MX2, joins the MXGP premier class this season.

Pauls Jonass of Latvia, who was vice world champion in MX2 in 2015, suffered what doctors described as a light concussion during a crash. They confirmed the rider should take rest for 4-5 days, and the medical examinations he has had so far are satisfactory. Jonass is expected to be also fit to ride in the opening round of MX2. Jonass has now had four days of rest and has been declared fit to race.

For the 2017 season, the Red Bull KTM Factory Team will field Tony Cairoli, Glenn Coldenhoff and Jeffrey Herlings in the MXGP class, and Pauls Jonass and Spanish teenager Jorge Prado will contest MX2.
