Valentin Guillod to Strengthen Kemea - Yamaha's 2016 Equipe

Kemea Yamaha Official MXGP Team will go into the new year with a MXGP-star added to its 2016 rider line-up. It is with great pleasure and anticipation that Yamaha Racing and the Kemea confirm that Valentin Guillod will represent them in the premier class of motocross aboard a Yamaha YZ450F.

Last year Guillod shone on his YZ250F in the MX2 class, securing three moto wins, nine moto top-3 results, three overall GP wins and six GP podium finishes to take fourth place in the championship standings overall.

These impressive results were the first signs pointing to his maturity and his readiness to move up to the next level. Having turned 23 years old on the 18th of December, he has reached the age limit of the MX2 class and thus decided to make the step up to the most challenging class in the world of off-road racing.

With the talented Swiss rider added to their line-up, the Kemea team looks forward to a year full off-road racing action as it will compete in no less than three classes: MXGP, MX2 and EMX250.

The new combination of the Kemea YZ450F and Guillod is scheduled to test its race pace for the first time at the MX Pre-Season Race Alghero, Italy, on the 30th-31st Jan.

HSU planning swift recovery for 2016 season

Team Suzuki World MX2 rider Brian Hsu is hoping for a trouble-free recovery period after undergoing surgery two weeks ago on his left hand and wrist and a displacement of the joint that will see the talented teenager face two months on the sidelines.

The former World and European - 125cc Junior - Champion made his Grand Prix debut in 2015 and surprised many with his instant speed and acclimatisation to MX2 with a top-10 finish in the first moto of the Lombardian round at Mantova last summer. The 17 year old continued to impress with his supercross technique and capabilities during the autumn, shining at the prestigious Paris-Lille SX with a podium result. Unfortunately a crash while racing at the Motolive event - that coincides with Europe’s largest bike show at EICMA in Milan - last month led to a damaged and dislocated left wrist/ hand.

“Brian was very lucky at Milan on a track that was perhaps too easy and he crashed quite heavily on his left hand,” commented General Manager Stefan Everts. “He’ll now head to Taiwan to see some family over the holiday period and continue his recovery and physio. He’ll then be back in January where he’ll attend school and we hope he can think about riding as soon as he is fully fit and ready. It is important that he doesn’t rush this type of injury and we just want to see him healthy and set for racing.”

Hsu had not been set to make his first outing in 2016 as a full-fledged member of the MX2 set-up until round three in Holland and this timetable could still be realistic.

Team-mate Jeremy Seewer has also been in a recuperation process. The Swiss, who finished fifth in the MX2 series in 2015 on the works RM-Z250 – his first full term as a Pro – needed an operation to repair part of the bone structure in his mouth and to replace several teeth that were the legacy of a practice crash earlier in the year. “I had the problem with my mouth and had been using some fake teeth for quite a while,” the 21 year old explained. “So I had been waiting until the off-season to have the operation and it meant 10 days of not doing much but the problem is almost fixed.

“We have been pushing really hard on the racebike for next year and Stefan has been very strong with the work we wanted to do on the engine. I’m sure we’ll see improvements for next season,” said Seewer, who reached the Grand Prix podium on two occasions in 2015 and is tipped for more silverware for the forthcoming 18-round series that starts at Losail, Qatar for the fourth year in a row on February 27th.

Successful track & location inspection in Russia

FUNCHAL (Portugal), 16 December 2015 – Recently Youthstream Representative Ms. Patricia Maskarova along with FIM representatives, FIM Race Director Mr. Ingo Partsch and FIM Doctor Mr. Martin Syrucek travelled to Orlyonok, Russia to inspect the track and location that is set to host the 2016 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship. The track itself is a natural terrain circuit to the length of 1850 meters. It is wide and flowing with a lot of elevation. It also has a permanent watering system in place and has been deemed safe for marshals, medical staff and officials to fulfill their duties safely and efficiently. It also will have no problem in accommodating the thousands of fans expected to come out and support and encourage the world’s fastest junior motocross riders.

Ms. Maskarova, Mr. Partsch and Mr. Syrucek visited the circuit and the local medical center as well as the closest major hospital.

The closest major hospital is Krasnodar; it is the same hospital that is used for Formula1 events. With one more inspection set to take place approximately one month prior to the event, which will take place on the weekend of August 14, so far all the requirements of hosting a world-class event such as the 2016 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship have been met.

Many thanks to all who were on site that day, Youthstream’s Ms. Patricia Maskarova, FIM Race Director, Mr. Ingo Partsch, FIM Doctor Mr. Martin Syrucek, Russian Motorcycle Federation President Mr. Alexander Dzheus, Russian Motorcycle Federation Secretary General Mr. Evgeny Parshin, MFR President assistant for Internal Affairs Ms. Petrovskaya Oksana, Technical Director of Orlyonok Circuit, Mr. Mikhaylov Vladimir and LLC Deputy and the General Director Ms. Oksana Desyaterikova.
