REDBUD (United States) 23 September 2022 – The second half of the media day at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in RedBud, concluded with a special press conference which announced a special addition to the FIM Motocross World Championship followed by the Teams Press Conference and the Teams Presentation to a huge crowd of supportive American fans.

The afternoon activities began with the presentation of top nations at this year’s event. This included Team Italy, Netherlands, Great Britain, France, USA, Belgium, Switzerland, Australia and Spain, as well as the newly introduced FIM Latin America team. Each squad hared their expectations and hopes for the 75^th edition of the biggest off-road race of the season.

Defending Champions Team Italy with Antonio Cairoli, Andrea Adamo and Mattia Guadagnini will run the #1, #2 and #3 plates this weekend, as they will look to keep hold of the Chamberlain Trophy for the second consecutive time.

Antonio Cairoli: “I really wanted to race with the #1 plate and we are also in America this year which is even more special. We will try to do our best and the podium is definitely the goal for us!

Team Netherland’s Glenn Coldenhoff reminisced on his success at the event in 2018 and shared his motivation for this year with Team Netherlands saying “I’m feeling good coming into this weekend. I did some training last week in Florida and I am feeling really strong. Obviously, I am motivated, especially last time I was here I have some good memories, so I’m looking to do well here”.

Meanwhile the home heroes Team USA, who are the big favourites to win here on home soil have a lot of motivation and it could be the year that the nation claims their 23^rd victory.

Team Manager Roger De Coster: “I feel really feel good about the nations this year. These three guys are really happy to be here to represent the USA”.

Team Captain, Eli Tomac: “We have a redemption round, if you want to call it that. 2018 wasn’t good at all, but we’re here and we’ve got a lot of confidence in our team!”

Team Australia have all eyes on them as Mitch Evans, Hunter Lawrence and Jett Lawrence have a real shot at gifting their nation their very first Chamberlain Trophy.

Mitch Evans: “We’ve all been on the world stage for a few years now, so we know how it works now, all three of us have had a really good year and certainly we are in a good position to fight for the podium and if not, the win”.

Hunter Lawrence: "It would be awesome [to be on the podium or win] and it’s something you always dream of, especially for your country, it’s even more special. I believe we have an amazing team and we’re very capable of getting on the podium. Would be cool to top off Australia’s best result”.

Then it was time to introduce this year’s teams from the 34 nations that will take part in the battle for the Chamberlain Trophy this weekend. Each country showcased the three riders who will represent them at the 75^th Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations as they took a tour on the start line in front of an enthusiastic crowd of American fans in the RAM 1500 Rebel, 1500 Limited and 2500 Power Wagon trucks.  

The Team Presentation started with the 34^th team and wrapped up with the defending champions Team Italy followed by the hosting team, USA, who were urged on by their passionate home supporters who are hoping to see the trio back on the top step!

REDBUD (United States) 23 September – Welcome press conferences and the ballot to define the starting grid for tomorrow’s qualifying heats kicked off the media day at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in RedBud, United States.

Friday’s activities officially began with the welcome press conference with Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo, FIM President Jorge Viegas and Amy and Tim Ritchie, the organisers of the event in RedBud, sharing some words about this weekend’s events.

Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo: “On behalf of Infront Moto Racing, I would like to welcome you to the 75th Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. It’s a big pleasure to be back here in the United States, at one of the most beautiful tracks in the world, RedBud. I think everybody is ready for a great weekend, we had a great preparation, the local organisers have done a great job of getting everything set up, the infrastructure, the track and with 34 nations are set to compete this weekend. We will have a packed weekend of spectators and it’s always a big pleasure to be in the USA for this event. I would like to thank the AMA for the support they have given to the event, to Mr Viegas and the FIM for being present and supporting us. This is the biggest offroad event of the year, a race where the riders fight for their country, it’s a very patriotic event and we are in the perfect country for it! I wish you all a good weekend and we hope to be back in the USA soon.”

FIM President Jorge Viegas: “Welcome to America! This is a wonderful place with an amazing organisation. For us at the FIM, this is one of the most important events and it’s a unique opportunity for all of the countries to race against each other and we get to see how motocross is across both sides of the Atlantic. I would like to highlight, that this year, for the very first time we have two teams that don’t belong to one single nation. Organiser of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations 2022 Amy Ritchie: "Welcome everybody, we’re pretty excited to have a do-over with the sunshine this time! We’re so excited to have the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations back in RedBud. There’s so many great stories in the paddock that I am excited to hear and see and watch unfold".

Following the welcome of the officials, a special press conference took place to present the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations Watches which will be given to the individual winners in MXGP, MX2 and Open riders at the end of the weekend. The unique time pieces were presented by legend Ricky Johnson who recalled some fond memories of his own time racing and where the idea for the award came from.

The draw saw Team Morocco get the first gate pick, meanwhile, home heroes Team USA will line up 15th while defending Champions, Team Italy will take gate six.

Ten years ago, around the very tough sand circuit of Lommel in Belgium, the greatest nation in Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations history, Team USA was sent back to America with their beloved Chamberlain trophy nicely packed away in the suitcase of Team Germany. After winning 22 Monster Energy FIM MXoN trophies, the American riders were slaughtered by the Grand Prix specialists and since that warm day in Belgium, Team USA hasn’t had a single victory in the Monster Energy FIM MXoN.

Now, as the 2022 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations is about to be launched, one of the big favourites for this year’s win is Team USA, with a solid line-up of AMA 450 motocross champion Eli Tomac and AMA 450 runner-up, Chase Sexton, not to mention the best American 250cc rider, Justin Cooper.

While the RedBud circuit is sand, it isn’t Lommel, but still, the best sand riders in the world are commonly considered the Europeans, and while Team USA are the favourites, many are looking at The Netherlands, with Glenn Coldenhoff, Calvin Vlaanderen and Kay de Wolf as a very formidable line-up, a team that would very easily walk away with their second Chamberlain Trophy, after winning in 2019 at the Assen circuit in Holland.

It is no secret, the Dutch were extremely unlucky the last time we ventured to Redbud, in 2018, as Coldenhoff and Jeffrey Herlings went 1-1-1-2, however it was Vlaanderen on the MX2 bike that suffered a nasty eye injury and DNS the final MX2 moto, costing Holland a sure win.

It seems more than likely both Team USA and The Netherlands will be amongst the serious candidates to win in a few days’ time, however, this event doesn’t ever just pit two against each together without several other countries capable of winning, or getting in the way of the winner and Team Italy are the defending champions and with a strong line-up of Antonio Cairoli, Mattia Guadagnini and Andrea Adamo they could easily spring a surprise, just as they did in 2021 at the Mantova circuit in Italy.

When you consider The Netherlands finished second in 2016 at the Maggiora circuit in Italy, losing to France by one point, then in 2017 at the Matterley Basin circuit, again second place behind the French, of course that disappointing second to the French in 2018 at Redbud, before winning at home in Assen in 2019 and second again at Mantova in Italy in 2021. So, from the last six years (or five if you exclude 2020 being cancelled) they have gone 2-2-2-1-2.

With Vlaanderen and Coldenhoff winning Grand Prix in deep sand in 2022, Vlaanderen finishing with 1-1 at the GP of Sardegna, and claiming 2-2 at the Belgian GP at Lommel, plus Coldenhoff winning the Finnish GP with 1-2 scores and finishing with 4-1 at Lommel, then their MX2 rider de Wolf finishing with second overall at the Belgian GP at Lommel, and also second at the Finnish Grand Prix, the Dutch look very strong for RedBud.

Whatever happens on Sunday in America, you get the feeling both Team USA and Team the Netherlands might be fighting for the top step on the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations. Amazingly, while Team USA try for their 22^nd win, Holland would be trying to get their second.

REDBUD (United States) 21 September 2022 – The Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations will make its much-anticipated return to RedBud in Buchanan, Michigan this weekend for the 75^th edition of the event which promises to be bigger and better than ever before!

Since the success of the 2018 Monster Energy FIM MXoN, everyone has been eager to see the event return to ‘America’s Motocross Track’, where home fans hope to see their local heroes Team USA back on the top step after an 11-year drought.

This will be the second time that RedBud will host the biggest motocross event of the season, and the fifth in total in the United States. The US first hosted the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations in 1987 at Unadilla with Bob Hannah, Rick Johnson and Jeff Ward contributing to USA’s 13-year winning streak that ran between 1981 and 1993.

Team USA is of course one of the favourites heading into this weekend. Having won a total of 22 times, more than any other nation, the Americans are looking to get back on top after not winning a single event since their last victory in 2011 at Saint Jean d’Angely. This year the team consists of Eli Tomac, Justin Cooper and Chase Sexton, with Sexton making his very first Monster Energy FIM MXoN appearance.

There is no doubt the trio will feel some kind of pressure, since the only time the US team was ever beaten on home soil was in RedBud 2018, but with the support of the home crowd and a very strong line-up, we could see the Americans back on top!

Meanwhile, Team France will be looking to repeat their success from 2018, when the nation scored their fifth consecutive victory with Gautier Paulin, Jordi Tixier and Dylan Ferrandis. Of course, Dylan Ferrandis will be back on the team this time around alongside Maxime Renaux and Marvin Musquin, with the trio a real threat for the Chamberlain Trophy once again.

Team Australia’s Mitch Evans, Hunter Lawrence and Jett Lawrence are another big threat for the top spot this year with a very strong team line-up. With Evans strong in MXGP and the Lawrence brothers shaking things up in the American series’ – this trio is one that could gift Australia their very first victory at the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations.

Team Great Britain is also a team to look out for with Dean Wilson, Max Anstie and Tommy Searle representing the Union Jack in the USA. The British squad has some history too, having won the event 16 times and is second in terms of the most wins as a nation. Wilson, Anstie and Searle are also the trio that began Team GB’s podium streak in 2017 at Matterley Basin where they finished third and since then, the squad has placed third for the last four events consecutively and will be looking to end their weekend with another medal to make it five!

Team Italy with Antonio Cairoli, Andrea Adamo and Mattia Guadagnini are the defending champions this year after their victory on home soil last year in Mantova. Having tasted victory last year, the motivation will be high.

Though Team Netherlands will also arrive hungry for the win after losing the title last year by just a single point to the Italian team. The team made up of Glenn Coldenhoff, Kay de Wolf and Calvin Vlaanderen will aim to clinch the nation’s second title, since their first win in Assen of 2019, a team that both Coldenhoff and Vlaanderen were a part of. Vlaanderen will also be looking to put the heartbreak of his time in RedBud last time around, behind him and focus on bringing home a solid result, while Coldenhoff will be looking to dominate just like he did in 2018 when he went 1-1 in his heats.

Also, Team Spain with Jorge Prado, Guillem Farres and Ruben Fernandez is a strong team who is likely to score top positions, along with Team Belgium with Jago Geerts, Liam Everts and Jeremy Van Horebeek, as Everts is set to make his debut for the Belgian squad, while Van Horebeek is set to make his 11^th event representing his home country, which will also be the final time for the Belgian who announced his retirement.

Team Japan’s, Yuki Okura, Jo Shimoda and Kota Toriyabe are another trio to look out for this year, as well as Team South Africa’s Tristan Purdon, Camden Mc Lellan and Cameron Anthony Durrow.

This Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations will be full of big milestones as we celebrate the 75^th edition of the event that began in 1947. This year, Team Estonia’s Tanel Leok will compete at his 20^th Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations while for Team Germany’s Max Nagl this will be his 17^th appearance, as Team Ireland’s Martin Barr will represent his nation for the 16^th time. Others celebrating big milestones include Antonio Cairoli who will make it his 15^th appearance, Jeremy Van Horebeek and Team GB’s Tommy Searle will line up for the 12^th time, as well as Glenn Coldenhoff and Team Switzerland’s Jeremy Seewer who will ride for their country for the 11^th and 10^th time!

A total of 34 teams, including special teams from FIM Europe and FIM Latin America, will participate in the 75th edition of the event with the action promising to be bigger and better than ever with a very competitive line-up that makes the podium hard to predict!

It is almost that time again that we get ready for the biggest racing event on the calendar, the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations! As we approach the event, we thought it would be useful to give you 10 reasons why you cannot miss the event this year… so let’s begin!

1. This year the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations returns to one of the most iconic tracks in the world, that is RedBud in the United States, the host of the very memorable edition in 2018 that saw Team France win for the fifth time in a row!

7. The Balloting to determine the starting grid. This is one of the most intense moments before the racing begins as we eagerly watch which team gets which gate pick – and by now we know how important this is in a team’s strategy and the chance of success!

8. The VIP Facilities are insane this year! With the VIP Diamond already sold out, this leaves the Platinum and Silver tickets which are still available to purchase. The VIP Pass is a must-have, with the best views of the track as well as special activations, meet and greets with your mx heroes and of course the food and beverages available throughout the weekend and freebies!

9. The Heroes Parade on Sunday. This one really needs no explanation as some of the biggest legends in motocross history will tour a lap of the track in RedBud before the racing kicks off
